YES! That is confusing, but Kimberle set it straight!

There are concierge rooms, not exactely suites, on the 14th floor.
They sometimes are referred to as hospitality suites because of the lounge.

those rooms are larger and have only 2 queens and a nice sitting area!

At least...THAT's the info i've been told from CR's IPO....::yes::

Kimberele...we're counting on you to update us on the "mysterious" 14th floor!:magnify: :wave2:

thanks for the info on the 14th floor....

im going to leave the question about the wing rooms open because when i looked again at the room types listed i saw 4.

standard ($264), garden ($295), wing ($315) and
standard view junior suite ($340) these are regular season rates.

maybe the wing is corner room and its bigger? (just guessing here)

mike

EDIT: just found a listing on another site for this room and it says it has a king size bed. I doubt that could be the only distinction but...

This has been a great thread to read. Hubby and I are heading back to the World booking last minute in September. We're planning on spending 2 nights at the Hard Rock Hotel, 10 nights at Pop Century and our last 2 nights at Contemporary staying on 14th floor concierge. Thanks for all the postings on the subject, I've found it very useful.

Has anyone stayed on the 14th floor recently?

My 4 kids all really want to stay at CR for our next WDW trip which will be Easter 2005 -- and the CR will be a great choice for us because it will be a crowded time so staying on the monorail will be ideal. But here is my question -- with a family of 6 what is the most economical (if one can even use that term when talking about a deluxe resort!) for a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children- none under 3). Do we just have to book 2 rooms or are there any 1br suites that would cost less (or not cost too much more but have preferable location) and still sleep 6?? Thanks for all the great CR info so far!!

Okay, so I have a question. We are definitely staying at the CR for our stay in July '05. We would like to stay in the concierge level, but I'm wondering if any concierge level rooms sleep 5?

Kteacher: I haven't stayed there yet, but from what I have heard/read, all 2 queen bed rooms sleep 5 b/c there is a daybed!

Hi, this thread has been awesome to read, very informative!

Just a few questions:
1) What are the drink choices for the refillable mugs?
2) Can you get coffee/tea anytime of the day or night a the FFC?
3) I booked my ressie (aug) through DU but didn't specify any room requests at that time, can I add a request to it now or would I be better off just waiting until we check in (ie MK view request)?

TIA and a hearty thank you for all who contributed to this thread!!!

I just switched my reservations from POP 11/6-11/13 to CR. I've VERY EXCITED :bounce: I could only get a garden lake room but I'm calling every few days to see if a tower opens up! I want to take full advantage of the resort since this $$$ of a trip will not likely happen again in the next few years!
We are already planning on taking the boat over to see the Hoopdeedo(sp? - haven't had my coffee!:o ) revue. Can't wait to take the monorail to Epcot & walk to MK! - what other conveniences should I not miss while staying here?
Thanks!

For PoohandWendy

We were just fown the weekend of Memorial Day

The FFC is open 24 hours.
You can get coffee and tea, coke, diet coke, powerade, minute maid lemonade, sprite, mr pibbs (dr pepper taste), orange, water, I think that was all the flavors.

The grill area is not open 24 hrs though. They have refrigerated food and an area for baked goods.
We were quite shocked how small the food court area is, we are used to the all stars food court.

Only Value and Moderate resorts have large food courts. The deluxes have more sit-down restaurants. That's the trade-off.

12th floor rooms have King with daybed or 2 queens and daybed.

14th floor.....rooms have 2 queens (sleep 4) and there are larger suites that sleep 6 and up.

one would think that the larger concierge room on the 14th floor would sleep 5 or more...but, it doesn't!

Hope this helps!

Thanks Chuck!! Our last visit was at the YC and there is no FC, the trip before was at CBR and we just never got around to using the FC, so I don't have big expectations. Actually, it is unlikely we will use it for food much, but it would be nice to get drinks whenever we would like....like coffee and tea in the am

Also, my DH likes his rum and cokes after a long day at the parks (he will probably just bring a bottle of rum), I am sure he will get lots of use out of the drink refilling area....;)

So are the rooms that sleep 4 on the 14th floor smaller than the tower rooms? Or is it that the daybed is just not there?

Oh, one other question - sorry...

Do the discount codes work on the 14th floor rooms?

They also have frozen coke and frozen cherry.

the hospitality suite is 473 sq ft ( about 80 sq ft larger)and goes for $540 w/o taxes per night during regular season.
1 bedroom MK view....$1180 per night. (1428 sg ft)
2 bedroom MK view suite is a mere $1745 per night. (about 2000 sq ft.)

Discounts are rare for 14th floor, but Kimberle was able to score the 5/7 deal on her 14th floor room.
Suites.....no discounts. They sell out as there are only few rooms on the 14th floor.

And, a 12th floor AP discount is also rare, but CAN be had!::yes::
as well as AAA rate for the 12th floor.

Someone emailed me about my question on the room in the garden wings called a "wing room" ...not the standard or garden view room.

He told me he thinks they are rooms located in the bent (or corner sections) of the wing buildings. On one of the maps you can see that this corner roomis a bit bigger and the wing room is listed at $10 or so more a night.

Anyone stay in these rooms? any pics?

mike

Thanks BT:D It looks like I'll be staying at the CR in early December with my DS14:bounce: :bounce: He was in the hospital recently with a lacerated spleen , and was also diagnosed with Lyme disease on top of everything else:( He missed out on a lot of things- no more baseball, no class trip to Six Flags, no 8th grade dance, no Boy Scout camp, no trip to Hershey Park:( So I'm hoping this makes up for part of what he's missed:D We've never been to WDW during Dec., and it will be our first MVMCP too:D ! For next year's trip, looks like we'll just have to talk the kids into staying more days at the CR since there's no enough beds for all of us in the concierge level:teeth:

With regards to the drinks at the FFC you can also get slushy drinks usually coke and cherry, and you can also get diet sprite.

The grill at the FFC closes at 10pm
