If you're in a garden wing room, is there anywhere at the resort to watch the MK fireworks?

Never done it, (We've always stayed in Magic Kingdom view rooms, and watched from our room.), but I've read numerous people saying that the balcony on the North end of the tower has a great view.

(Don't know how familiar you are with the layout. The main interior of the resort, the "Grand Canyon Concourse", is the fourth floor. That's where most of the shops, Chef Mickey's, and so forth are. Big huge glass walls to the north and south, tiers of rooms east and west.)

Well, you can walk out the north end, and there's a balcony on that end of the building. (That's also where the walkway to BLT is.)

Thanks! My only experience with the contemporary is riding the monorail through it.

Dh and I will be at cr for two night in a few weeks. We've always dreamed of staying with castle view. Its just i don't want to leave the room, I want to get every minute of the room. Can't wait to have dinner in room watching fireworks!!!!

The music for the fireworks is on your TV.

(I think it's on channel 105, but I think it's moved, at least once. I often have to phone the front desk and ask which channel it is.)

It's one of those channels where they scroll a lot of text messages, about various things you can do at the resort. most of the time it has a kind of "elevator music" background. But when the fireworks (and I think, the pre-fireworks show, too) start, then the fireworks music overrides the normal music.

Me, I consider eating at Chef Mickey's to be one of the big "things" about Contemporary. (You have to make reservations really early. They book up quickly.) To me, really hard to beat an all you can eat buffet, where Mickey & Friends come to your table.

Please add us to the list! We're returning to CR for Easter Weekend. Last time, we stayed in a BLV Atrium Club room, but given the holiday season non-discounted rates for Easter Weekend, we'll try standard view garden wing this time. I'm really looking forward to giving the garden wing a try - we might discover that the lowest priced rooms on the monorail are a good fit for quick visits during peak/holiday season!

I'm back from vacation and I hope everyone had a joyous Christmas/Hanukah. If you haven't already done so, it's time to start planning your 2015 trip to WDW!

We all pile in the car and head out this afternoon - we'll be sleeping in the CR tomorrow night, watching the fireworks from our balcony!
I hope you had a magical vacation!

Good luck, I hope you are able to get the 1 bedroom :).

We are home for Christmas :santa:. How about you?
After having only one bathroom on Xmas vacation, that one-bedroom really needs to become available:rotfl:

Just got home from an awesome stay (AKL/GF Club) and booked a bounceback for Contemporary Club TPV!! So excited reading all this info, I just can't wait for September to get here!! :-)
Congratulations on booking the BB. Did you get the 35% off?

Add us to the list please!!

Myself, my DH and four friends are all staying in a 2 bdrm lake view villa at BLT November 16-21st! :cool1:

It will be our all adult anniversary trip! My hubby and I celebrating 10 years AND it's our first KID FREE trip ! Whoo hooo!

So looking forward to reading along with this thread. :thumbsup2
I have this feeling you and your friends are going to have a great anniversary trip. I'll add you to the Log-orail.

I would love to be added as well - staying at BLT 3/15-3/21 after a quick night at POR. Cannot wait!
:thumbsup2

We just booked a bounceback offer to stay at the Contemporary 12/18-23 in a Garden View Deluxe Room. We are so excited to be part of this thread. Our stay this year at the Animal Kingdom Lodge was great, but just too far away from EPCOT and MK.

I look forward to learning about the best perks for room requests and restaurants from you Contemporary pros!
The Deluxe rooms are great and really hard to book - congratulations!

Just booked our first BLT stay! :woohoo: Booked a 2 bedroom lake view for before our cruise next year 11/13/15-11/16/15
Sounds fabulous! Congratulations:)

You're still at CR and right on the monorail and Bay Lake so I think you made a wise decision given the blacked-out discounts. What are your dates? We might just overlap:scratchin

ETA: SPRING discounted rates were just released and there seem to be no blackouts. Usually, spring break is blacked-out over Easter, but I checked for you and CR is available at 30% off. But, for the week prior to Easter weekend (when we're booked), CR shows only CL availability with the 30% off. However, other resorts have non-CL rooms available at 30% off:)

Couple transportation questions:

Do buses run between resorts? I'm thinking they don't but I couldn't remember if they were testing.

What is this average cost for cabs to parks or resort? Say from Contemporary to the Animal Kingdom or MGM?

Last one - if I read the front page of this thread correctly, there is no bus directly to WWOS from the Contemporary?

Thanks and I apologize if this has been asked a lot.

No problem asking questions here:)

Some buses stop off at other resorts before/after the parks, but the easiest way to get to another resort from CR is to simply walk to the MK bus stop and get on any bus you'd like.

I've never taken cabs, but I think people often report it costs about $15 - $20 with tip to go from the resorts that are furthest away to AK/DHS/DTD. I may be off a bit though.

From AllEars:
Bus transportation to ESPN Wide World of Sports is available from Disney's All-Star Resorts, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney's Pop Century Resort on a limited schedule: Thursday - Monday 5 - 11 p.m. These buses will also run when events are taking place at the Sports Complex one hour prior to Sports Complex opening until 11 p.m. or Sports Complex close, whichever is later.

During the scheduled operating hours, buses from Disney's All-Star Resorts, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney's Pop Century Resort to ESPN Wide World of Sports will arrive at the Sports Complex on the hour and half-hour.

Hi KOOK! Just saw your post now. We're only there for March 27-28 (WL), going to visit my parents at the beach, and then back on the way to the airport April 4-5 (CR.) Funny you should mention the discounts! I called this morning to see if I could apply the discount our reservations - AP discount that we already have is better for WL and, as you mentioned, CR only has CL availability with the discount. (Although I see the BLV tower rooms are still available at rack rate, so one can always hope they find their way into the discount inventory at some point!) Anyway, AMAZING to see discounts for Easter Week! And funny story about the discount. I asked the CM on the phone to check Poly (this was when the discounts weren't loading on the website earlier today.) Standard view at Poly is discounted and now less than CR garden wing. I asked the kids. Poly is their favorite, but since we're staying at Poly next week, they wanted to stick with CR for Easter Weekend. Will be stalking the website for a discounted non-CL tower room!

We stayed at AKL back in May so I got some first hand experience with cabs between resorts ... to make it to dinner ADRs all over the resort. With AKL being the furthest resort from the center of the property, I think it's safe to call that a high point cost wise.

Bottom line ... the most we spent on a cab between resorts in May was $24, and the average was around $18. Figure 20 bucks as a safe medium. Cabs are readily available at the various resorts that have premium restaurants. Typically, the valet can whistle one up within a minute of you asking. The longest we waited in May was maybe 4 minutes ... maybe.

If you happen to be going for a race weekend, for example I am going to Princess half marathon weekend, there is a bus to WWOS for race participants! I booked CR because I'd always wanted to stay there and the monorail to the race was too good to pass up.

LOL on needing more than one bathroom . Keep stalking for that one bedroom as something might just pop up when you least expect it :wizard:.

Will be stalking the website for a discounted non-CL tower room!

Good luck :wizard:.

I am guessing I am on the list?

Staying at the CR Tower-TPV from 6/2/15-6/8/15 :beach:

June will be here before you know it :).

We are going to AKL for lunch so that is helpful. Thanks!

Going down for marathon weekend in a few days so that is good to know. Thanks!

One month from today we'll be checking in to BLT for the first time! So excited, but feel likes there's so much to do!

Yes WDWKOOK we did get the 35% off which makes it such an amazing deal!! We fell in love with staying Club level so we are doing club level at Contemporary with a TPV!! Sept 19-25 after two days at Loews Royal Pacific! Now if only September would get here sooner.... (Who am I kidding I have a January trip in 22 days at ASMu - I like to jump around to all the different resorts!)

So excited! 1 month from now we should be landing at the Orlando airport! Then off to Bay Lake Towers for a week!

Does anyone happen to know if in a 2 bedroom villa at BLT will have blow dryers in all 3 bathrooms??

TIA!

No, we were visiting our favorite colonial attraction right here in Virginia;). A very happy and healthy 2015 to you, mickeynut1! Is it almost time to book?

Very interesting question. According to the 2-bedroom villa description, each bathroom does have its own hairdryer.
