Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

Just made a reservation for marathon weekend and all we could get at the Contemporary was a Garden Wing room. This is my friend's first time going to Disney and I want it to be a good trip. In your opinion will we like being in the Garden Wing or will it feel cut off from the resort? Also how are the rooms? How were your experiences if you have stayed in those rooms? There isn't a lot of options to switch to but I could switch to the Grand Floridian(will cost more of course). I am trying to stay on a monorail resort so we use the monorail for our main mode of transportation. Sorry for the ramble and thanks for any help or opinions!

We stayed in the garden wing in October and loved it. We had a 1st floor room with a patio and a view of Bay Lake, just steps from the pool. It was a very short walk to the tower to access dining, shopping and the monorail, and I wouldn't say we felt "cut off" at all. In fact, with 2 little ones, I actually preferred the quieter location. The standard rooms are the same in the tower and GW, so you won't notice any difference there. The only things you won't be able to do are step out of your room and see the monorail whizzing by or view Wishes from your room. If those things don't matter to you, then I think you will love the GW, and of course being at CR in general!!!

Hi all! I have a question, please. When I made our reservation, the CM asked if I had any requests. We are staying in the tower, TPV. I said highest floor possible, and she said, "that's all?" Should I be requesting something more? Thanks for any help! :goodvibes

Amazing! Thanks.

I wish there was a way to pay a little more and know you're getting a lake view room on outer north side instead of, for example, the inner middle. But without that assurance, I think the theme park view is the safer bet.

I agree :thumbsup2

We booked cash ressies and never had the MKV as an option.

Just got back. Had bay view booked but upgraded to theme park view. Yay!

Congrats on the upgrade, hope you had a great trip :wizard:.

This was our view on our trip from October 20-25! We were club level atrium with Theme Park view for the 1st 5 days, and on our last night we had the other club level and had a Bay Lake view... sadly the photo of that view was lost some how :(

Great pic, hope you had a great time :).

Thank you - I haven't given up - yet.

Any luck with the change? :wizard:

Well .... just book a MK view room in the main tower for February 20-24 for me and my wife. We haven't stayed at the CR since 1997, although we've been on property 10 times since then.

It'll be good to be back.

Have a great time :goodvibes.

Just back from our first stay at CR TPV (4 nights) and we loved it. We had never stayed at a MK resort before. We were originally booked at the Poly but the construction pictures scared us off. Very happy we switched as the construction at the Poly was everywhere.

The room at CR was awesome (love watching the fireworks from our balcony), we enjoyed the hotel itself, and the walk to/from Magic Kingdom was perfect. It was tough leaving CR but we moved to Beach Club CL after the 4 nights. (BC was also wonderful by the way.)

We will definitely stay CR again. Next time hopefully there will be CL availability. Thanks to all on this thread as it really gave us the push we needed to stay at CR.

Glad you had a great time and enjoyed the CR. We are hoping to try the CR sometime next year :).

The most popular Tower TPV request is an odd-numbered room. In those rooms, the beds face toward the MK.

Any luck with the change? :wizard:
Nope, only the Studio is still available for spring break, and I'm not complaining about our Tower room, but the one-bedroom sure is nice:). Are you going away for Christmas?

Speaking of BLT, I read today that BLT is scheduled for a rehab in 2017. This will make it about 8 years from when they first opened in 2009.

I visited some friends staying in one of the first floor room in the Garden Wing back n the spring and it was just lovely back there. It's a bit of a hike up to the main building, but it's VERY Magic Kingdom feeling ... not to worry.

About to pull the trigger on a reservation for a 2 bedroom villa at the BLT. I am torn between the theme park and lake views. Cost is not the major factor.

Here's my thinking:

-- The view of the theme park and of the fireworks will be really cool, probably for the first day. After that, it's redundant. Do you get used to it pretty quickly?

-- And with it comes a view of the parking lot. Also, without knowing what floor we'll get I understand your "theme park view" may be more parking, less park.

-- The views of the lake from the rooms on the outer edge of the tower seem amazing and overall we'd probably take this over the theme park view.

-- But the views from the inside edge of the tower where you see some lake but also see a ton of building and other rooms doesn't see great. And it's unclear what they consider "lake view" versus "standard view"?

So what's a safer bet? Are most of the lake views great lake views with a little the building or are they mostly a lot of building with a filtered view of the lake?

Are there any good places at the Tower to view the fireworks if you're not in a theme park room (and not a DVC member with access to Top of the World)?

Thanks for your help.

We had a lake view room the one time we stayed, and it was mostly building with some pool if you looked sideways and a little bit of lake past that. We requested outer ring, but of course it's not guaranteed. I think there are some Great lake views, but some bad ones, too. For our next stay, we would have booked MK view, but it was sold out so we're back to lake view again.

We all pile in the car and head out this afternoon - we'll be sleeping in the CR tomorrow night, watching the fireworks from our balcony!

We will be staying in a 2 bedroom at BLT with a lake view. I would appreciate any suggestions as to any special requests I should add to my reservation for a preferred location.

Good luck, I hope you are able to get the 1 bedroom :).

We are home for Christmas :santa:. How about you?

I can't help as we've never stayed at BLT, but hopefully others will be able to give some suggestions :flower3:.

Agreed! We stayed in a 1 BDRM BLV room last month. We were on the inner "C". We felt as tho we were in a fish bowl. I usually enjoy sitting either on the balcony, or right by the window, but sadly I felt as tho I was being watched.
Last year we had a room on the outside of the "C"....that was FABULOUS!! :yay:
If we could be guaranteed an "outside C" room I might consider booking a Bay Lake View room in the future, but I doubt that'll ever happen.

Honestly, we missed the Theme Park View soooo much, I think we will seldom book any other view again in the future. ;)

I would ask for an OUTSIDE C room (or just say..."EVEN NUMBERED room please")! :thumbsup2

Good luck!!!pixiedust:

March is right around the corner, you will be checking into BLT before you know it :).

We just booked a bounceback offer to stay at the Contemporary 12/18-23 in a Garden View Deluxe Room. We are so excited to be part of this thread. Our stay this year at the Animal Kingdom Lodge was great, but just too far away from EPCOT and MK.

I look forward to learning about the best perks for room requests and restaurants from you Contemporary pros!

Just booked our first BLT stay! :woohoo: Booked a 2 bedroom lake view for before our cruise next year 11/13/15-11/16/15

If you're in a garden wing room, is there anywhere at the resort to watch the MK fireworks?
