Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I would switch, I think the rooms at AKL are too small for 5 humans, even though they are technically allowed because of their age. I just think you need more square footage to feel sane. You can't ask for anything better than the monorail resorts when it comes to room size. You'll enjoy your trip more with more space.
I'm actually dreading our small AKL room for the 3 of us next month. Originally when I booked the room it was just two of us, which was going to be perfect. Now we're going to have to have a rollaway for Connor and I hate how much space it takes up in the room. I much prefer rooms with a daybed so my kids can sleep apart and we can all be happier.

Thank you! Now I am torn between RPC and Sugarloaf lol, oh first world Disney problems.

Not sure if I can keep it a secret the family knows we are staying at AOA and BC but I upgraded to Garden View Club level at BC ! kids will be 17 and 20 and my 17 yr old eats a lot lol!! and we are on the dining plan!! off to start reading yes all the reservations are made 3 nights and then 5 nights thanks for all the tips!

Does anyone have details re the special perks for poly club level guests on July 4th? Iirc there is different food in the lounge and maybe special seating on the beach for fireworks? I can't find the post where someone shared this last year and I'm trying to decide what to do for our July trip!

I've stayed at the Poly CL for the last 4-5 years during July 4 week. I did post pics and info -- not sure if it was in this thread or the Poly thread, let me check and I'll come back and link it for you. In the meantime, yes there is "different" food in the lounge....things like hot dogs, baked beans, salad, chicken wings, fruit beautifully displayed in red white and blue. Roped off area on beach for CL guests. Let me go back and check for more detailed info..

Do you think it's worth being club level that week? Are you returning this year? We are planning a trip 7/1-7/10 and are on the fence. Last year we stayed at gf in sugar loaf and weren't super impressed with the club lounge and staff. We stayed poly club level over Labor Day and did enjoy it. I'm just worried the lounge will be a zoo in July!

Your post made me laugh. When we were at RPC during the holidays, my husband assigned code names to the "guards". We dreaded nights when "Sergeant by the Book" was working -- she poured barely an inch of wine and refused to let him take 3 glasses to our room (for him, me and my sister who were getting ready for dinner) -- 2 glasses per person apparently. Alternatively, when "Lieutenant Lots of Fun" was working, it was a generous "pour" and a tray to carry the glasses to the room.

Lol - we went through similar experiences at BC CL (only with one particular CM). One night she left her post for a few minutes and you should've seen every man in the lounge practically run to the counter to take a beer! It was rather funny, but it really shouldn't have to be that way. I suspect a few bad apples have tainted the experience for the rest of us guests.

Yes we will be going to Poly CL again this July 4 -- we really love being able to watch the spectacular 4th of July show right from the Poly! The lounge does get crowded on the 3rd and 4th, but we've always managed to find a seat. If it's too crowded, we just go back to our room for a bit and then try the lounge again. Also, there are CM's standing both in the lounge and at the building entrance to scan MB's to keep away the people who try to sneak in to make the crowds even worse.

My little user picture to the left is our view of July 4 Wishes the very first time we experienced it from Poly! It was very special to us, so much so that we keep going back...

Post 701 in this thread shows each night's evening appetizers for the July 4 week, except I didn't re-post July 4 food from the previous year since it was the same -- so let me see if I can find pics from the previous year. Here's the beautiful fruit display:
Saturday -July 4. Same food as in previous years. Hot dogs, baked beans, chicken wings, and outstanding salad. They put out a gorgeous fruit basket that was quickly devoured, but I tried to snap a few pics so you could get an idea:

It's funny how these CL's are different. At Poly I've had CM's push more alcohol on me than I could ever want, "want a to go cup".... "How about one for the road".... "Need any for your room".... "how about another beer sir..." Even during the day when it's not out. Here at RPC I feel like if I asked for a beer during the day I'd get some dirty looks.

Ok found the pics. Post 387.

Here we go! Poly CL, July 4, 2014:

Right, I know! Poly CL is indeed very accommodating and makes us feel relaxed and as if we can freely have a drink whenever we want. Now I'm hoping we'll have a good experience at RPC next month because DH is already on the fence about staying there.

Ha! Well don't let him read this. I am very glad we tried GF and we've had a great time, but for my money Poly CL is the clear winner among the monorail resorts. I have definitely missed it. I'll elaborate more when we get back. That being said I'd stay GF again, there are certainly things here I've enjoyed more than Poly, some not so much. But it wouldn't be my first choice.

Well....I suspect I'll have the same opinions as you, but I've been saying for years we need to try RPC so now's the time, no regrets. I'm just hoping the RPC lounge food is indeed a step above the Poly CL food (that might make up for some grumblings lol). I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and will look forward to hearing more after you get back.

Reading these posts about the Poly just continues to fire up my excitement for this summer! :cloud9: On our last stay in the summer of 2013 I was so depressed that the resort was going to have so many changes. I was nervous about the DVC impact and all the rumors going around about tearing down the volcano, the whole trip just felt like a farwell to our old Poly. :sad1: Now that everything is going to be done I'm PUMPED to get back there and rekindle my love for the Poly Ohana! :grouphug:

We decided on 2 nights in a lagoon view at GF and 7 nights TPV CL at Poly. My oldest loved the new kids area last summer and I feel like I can't beat the TPV from there. Fingers crossed it will be great! I've been on the phone for about an hour and a half so far trying to get it changed :earseek:

Don't get me wrong, I don't regret this trip at all. Totally glad we did it. I should caveat that this trip is just me and DS. DW doesn't like Poly at all (blasphemy) but would probably love it here at GF!!

How often do they change up the offerings in the lounge? We'll be poly cl in April and I'd love an idea of what might be offered in the evenings. Like what are they offering now and will those offerings most likely be similar to Aprils? Any ideas? Thanks!

Hope you had a great trip!! I'd like to ask if there was a children's food table. If not, was there a chef there preparing appetizers? Can you let us know some of the evening main dishes? Thank you!!!!

Sure! No children's table, so we got DS his dinner from Mara every night and brought it up to eat. The chefs were always asking if he'd had his pizza yet whenever we came through the lounge lol.

During our four nights, we had: pork ribs, seafood stew, crab stew, a cheese pasta, a few spicy stews I couldn't eat (I am awful with hot foods), a shredded meat/bread app...those are what I remember. Two per night. Ample amounts for everyone to have as many as they wanted and the chefs would be asking us to eat more so they didn't have to waste any at the end of the service.

We are here now at GF in Sugarloaf! When we arrived on ME, there was a greeter in the lobby directing those checking in to head to the main desk. I told him we were club level, and he looked us up on his iPad and escorted us right away. But we have noticed not everyone got this treatment.

For the 5:00 food offerings we have beef empanadas, Brie with raspberry jam in a puff pastry crust, plus the usual cheese and veggies. Plus a taboullea (I know I've spelled that terribly) with chicken. Mini corn dogs and pb&j plus goldfish and gummy bears for the kids. For sweets, A goat cheese panacotta with strawberry, strawberry soup, brownies, rice crispie treats and cupcakes.

Very satisfied so far!
