Cast Member Discount

Does anyone know if the current cast member incentive ($15/pt) applies to their family members as well? I've read a few things of family members being able to take advantage of it without having the CM on the deed, but the DVC website isn't very clear on this. Does anyone have any recent experience with it? Thanks!

I would also like to know. I thought during COVID Disney took away the benefit for family of cast members, unless the cast member was present.

I think they were asking about using the cast member discount, and whether that can be extended to family and friends. I do believe that it has become more limited, due to abuse (or at least what DISNEY defines as abuse). I will admit that on one or two occasions, that we did indeed purchase entry tickets in the past, MANY MANY MANY years ago from a Cast Member who was a friend of a friend of the family. They also went in with us, and then left. But we haven't done that in decades, so I really don't think you could do it now. I also doubt whether they could just give discounted passes to friends.

For the DVC Owners discount on Annual Passes, the DVC contract must be direct from Disney, OR an old old contract that you have owned, from (I believe) sometime before BLT or at least before Polynesian. If you do have one of those original contracts, and it hasn't been sold or transfered to you, then you should get all the original privileges from it. I DO know that SOMETIMES you can call Disney and try to use a discount on an old, previously existing contract, one that has been grandfathered in with those rights, and they will just ASSUME that it is a repurchased contract and tell you that you can't use those privileges. But you can remind them that you have owned it since before they put the new restrictions on things.

When I call up and request an Annual Pass, with a discount, for my grandchildren, they generally don't give me a hassle. I think each owner is limited to like SIX discounted annual passes. BUT, if I try to buy one for my adult children or my wife's family, they don't want to sell the discounted passes unless those people LIVE WITH YOU in the same house. If they do, there is no problem. Otherwise ------

I solved this problem by taking three of my original 7 contracts (that I purchased DIRECT from Disney) and going through the trouble to add my four adult children to the deeds through the process of Gratuitous Transfer. Now, they are also owners, with all of the rights and privileges there to. (Don't I sound like a lawyer? I'm not, but it sounds good.) Anyway, all 4 of them now also have the rights to buy discount Annual Passes AND to get Discounts in the Disney stores, etc. And they can get Annual Passes for their children, or people who live with them. And as far as I know, all FOUR of them can get up to SIX discounted passes each. It also makes it much easier for them to set up their own DVC Members account and sign on and make their own DVC reservations and schedules.

If I were Disney for $15/pp I would let anyone who could loosely claim a cast member as a relative use the discount.

This is what the Big 3 did for a LONG time (and still sort of do) for their cars. A small fraction of the cost of doing business.

It’s 8 APs for the household for each owner. I also added my adult kids for this reason as they don’t live home.

And, my DD is no longer a CM…by I thought they were asking about getting the CM discount when purchasing DVC.

Thank you. I think you are right. I thought they were talking about entry. It is also good to know that the number of Annual Pass Discounts is 8 per owner. I have never used that many, but between all our family members we probably make over a dozen vacations to WDW every year, so they do come in handy.
