Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Does anyone know if the CL CM's will ask to see an ID from anyone wanting an alcoholic drink who looks under 21? We have a split stay this coming August at both CR & Poly, both CL stays, and my oldest DD will be 21 by then but honestly looks like she's 12...lol. She was asking me about it yesterday and was wondering if she should just plan to carry her ID at all times to be on the safe side? Thoughts?

Opinions please!! Last week of September which would you choose?

BC Deluxe CL Room
BW Deluxe CL Room

There are 5 of us Me, DH, DS (13), DS (11), DD (10)

Thanks!!

We've stayed at both BC (many times) and BWI (three times.) Tough choice. At BC, we prefer the pool, the room decor (if the BC deluxe rooms are finished by then - they were not in April,) and the CL food offerings. The new lounge is more spacious than it was before and the food is quite good. We also love Teena the greeter in the lobby - always a warm welcome!

At BWI, we prefer the view - straight boardwalk view from the deluxe CL rooms. (At BC, the deluxe rooms are near the lobby or overlook the quiet pool.) We also appreciate the guarantee of an actual balcony at BWI. (Some BC deluxe rooms have juliet standing balconies only.) We really enjoy the CL CMs at BWI, and that has always been a huge selling point for us. And if you have any interest in the quiet pool, the BWI quiet pool is amazing - entirely uncrowded, crystal clear hot tub and serene setting. Don't love the clown, but the pool slide at BWI is fun (our kids are ages 8, 14 and 15 and they rank it a close second to the jib slide at SAB.) Finally, the Boardwalk atmosphere is just fun, especially for teens and pre-teens - good lively vibe. Of course, you can enjoy that by walking over from BC, but it's nice to sit out on the balcony and see/hear it. (At least the kids and I think so - my husband, not so much.)

I think the pool is a big fact there. Are you a fan of SAB or do you want a big clown watching you swim???

Okay I have to share all my fun Disney news. So yesterday I officially made the switch to GF RPC in a deluxe. And today I decided we are staying one night in a bungalow at the Poly pre-cruise in January. (I can book tomorrow and I assume it will be available since it was available for the Saturday before...) I am paying someone's dues for the year and taking her points :) I'm sooooo crazy excited! 2 awesome Disney bookings in 24 hours!! My mom will be with us in one room and will split it. Then it will be my husband, toddler and myself. :)

I know they are crazy, but kids think the creepy clown slide looks fun! And actually, it really comes down to room, CL, and service! ;-)

The beauty of the resort, the theming everywhere, and the outstanding CMs, made for a fantastic time. The lounge was terrific, and I loved to sit at one of the tables at the Bay Lake end and enjoy the view.

I agree. I think every resort is beautiful in its own way, but the WL is just breath taking, IMO. From the gorgeous lobby to the relaxing, outdoorsy atmosphere makes it a great place to stay :cloud9:.

Since we already have TPV CL booked, might as well keep it and not risk switching to WL and getting caught up in the construction! I'm going to keep my eye on the status of things as September gets closer, I can always switch at the last minute as this part of the trip is booked as RO.

I think that's a great idea :thumbsup2.

How exciting about the bungalow :yay:.

We've never stayed at BWI, but I think the clown pool looks like a lot of fun ::yes::. With that said, we thought SAB was just ok as there are other resort pools that we prefer over SAB.

Have you asked on the YC/BC thread? I know they are going to renovate the rooms, but I don't know about the lounge. But if you find out, I'd love to know! We just stayed at BC, and the lounge is beautiful, but we did have noisy neighbors who let their kids scream at 6:15 am! I have heard that YC has a lot of convention people, so I wonder if that's what makes it a bit more quiet (fewer kids)??

Actually, I posted the same question there this morning. So far no answer, but I'd be happy to report back here if/when I get one.

I'm 22 and was never carded at WL. I think it'd be a good idea to keep it handy just in case though. Could prevent an awkward situation.

They did proof my 21yo son at Poly on two different nights. He doesn't usuallly get proofed at home.

I would tell her to carry it just in case. I, too, look like I'm about 12 (my lack of height doesn't help) and I'm in my 30's! I pretty much get carded everywhere, and once, even laughed at to my face when ordering an alcoholic beverage  If I even *think* I'm going to drink, I carry my ID!

YAY! Blackhawks win, so I don't have to figure out where we were going to watch game 7 on Wednesday! So the guys got their Locker room hats - we can head down to Disney in peace (and happiness!) WOOHOO!

I think it will be a good idea that she just carry it with her just in case, so thank you. She hates that she looks so young but I keep telling her she'll appreciate it when she's older :).

Good morning all! Congrats to all the Blackhawks fans. As a Bruins fan I am extremely jealous but I'm glad an Original 6 team won.

So for the first time in over 10 years we decided to try a resort not named the Beach Club!! We booked our annual Beach Club Bounceback offer last August before we checked out and the offer started on Thursday, August 20th. Anyone who has flown JetBlue out of Boston knows that the price to fly out on Wednesday versus a Thursday is usually hundreds of dollars less. So I made the decision to just fly out on Wednesday and book a single night on 8/19. I got a great rate for a standard room at the BC ($202) from the travel agency that shall remain nameless on the DIS. I started to think about the fact that we wouldn't have the dining plan and how much that would cost us and I thought I would check to see if they had any great rates on a Club Level room. As luck would have it, they had a discounted Garden View Club Level room at the Poly ($392) and I decided to go with that given that we can have drinks, snacks and food there and we would also get to try out a resort that I have always wanted to try, but never wanted to fully commit to for a full vacation.

So we will be at the Poly in Club Level on Wednesday, August 19th. We have stayed at the BC Club Level the last 10 years so we know how it works there but I was curious if anyone had any advice, tips etc. on the Poly Club Level. Maybe a room to request, food offerings etc. Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Jay

Congrats on your first Poly stay :). The Poly is our favorite resort, we love everything about it! I can't comment on CL as we've never tried it at the Poly, but the Hawaii long house is right next to the feature pool, so it's very convenient for grabbing snacks/drinks throughout the day if you spend a lot of time at the pool. As far as requests, if you want a balcony, request a 3rd floor room as 2nd floor rooms do not have balconies. Have a great trip :wizard:.

Hi Jake! As you know, we love BC! But there are a number of reasons we also love Poly CL. First, a few differences that may be good to note before your stay. Overall vibe in Poly CL is way more laid back. More flip flops and slippers, more guests ready for pool time, a few more guests making very full use of the food offerings . . . and the drinks! As a result, lounge upkeep can become a bit more difficult for the CMs. I'll admit that I really miss the walk out the IG at the end of Epcot nights, but there are other benefits of Poly that help to compensate!

So many great things about Poly. The view is absolutely wonderful and watching Wishes from the lounge is a great treat. The two-level lounge offers space to spread out a bit and that upper level along the railing is my favorite spot. Fun juices in the morning and evening. Access to the pool from CL rooms at Poly just can't be beat - it's incredibly convenient. Same for the beach, the monorail and all the GCH has to offer. We love easy access to both Epcot and MK via monorail (although I prefer the boat to and especially fro MK!). My husband and I enjoy a quick Tambu lounge date - even when staying CL (our oldest is 15 so we have a built-in sitter.). And now with Trader Sam's patio, the options are even better. Back to the beach - it's so close to the CL rooms that our kids use it a ton. Between the room, the lounge, the beach and the pool area, we have a ton of space steps away throughout our stay. Hope you love it!

P.S. We always request a balcony room, but none were available for our last stay so we were upgraded from GV CL to LV CL and on the ground floor. Loved it, but primarily because it was on the ground floor facing the beach. Will definitely continue to request balcony, but ground floor is a good second choice for us.

Thanks Pixarmom! Nice to have someone weigh in who digs the BC as much as we do so we can get a similar perspective. We won't have passes so we will be spending a lot of time at the resort, though I thought about jumping on the monorail and doing some shopping at the Contemporary or the GF just to break it up.

It's kind of exciting to try someplace new after so many years at the BC, though it will always be our very fav!!

Jay

2 weeks until our split Poly CL/BC CL stay! Quick coffee question - do either of these lounges have the espresso machines (like in GF SL)? Just curious! Thanks!
