Hi everybody...I'm so excited I just booked my stay for CBR. This will be my second solo trip, first time at CBR, first time doing the dining plan, and I have no idea what number trip overall. I will be in Orlando offsite for a work convention from 4/22-4/26 and then checking in to CBR 4/26 to 4/28. I've learned a lot from reading through this thread so far, but I'm only on page 23! I'll have my car, so I'm not to worried about transportation, but I made a request to be on an upper floor and near transportation. I couldn't decide what building I wanted so I decided to leave it to chance.

Hello. Well we just returned from a 10-day stay at Caribbean Beach Resort (Feb. 14th - 24th) and I have to say, this was, by far, our BEST resort stay in the past four years. We have stayed here before, but we have also tried Coronado, POR, POFQ, and my whole family kept saying how much we LOVE the Caribbean Beach resort. For some reason, our first stay there in 2000, we were out in Jamaica 44, and, per our request, we have been placed back in that building on each of our returns. I LOVE the Jamaica section. From our front door of our room to the front door of Old Port Royale, it was exactly a 9 minute walk, and a beautiful walk at that. A stroll across Caribbean Cay (the small island at the resort) with the music playing is a great walk even after a long day at the parks. Some nights, we would get off at Old Port Royale and walk over just to enjoy the walk. The grounds were beautiful. The new rooms are amazing. Our services, from bus to maid-service, were stellar. Our maids would always have the room clean, leave towel animals (left a Sting Ray in the bathtub one day...very cool) and would regularly leave us extras of everything. The room was always spotless and they cleaned, top to bottom, all 10 days! We never waited more than ten minutes for a bus...ever...during those ten days. Coming back from the parks the service was good as well. The only thing that I would say is that they do pack the busses at night if you stay to park closing, so be ready for that. The food court is such a cool place to hang out...with good food. The store now has Caribbean Beach specific merchandise (as I sit here sipping out of my newly acquired CB coffee mug) and we got the refillable mugs and used them quite a bit. There were a couple of chilly days, so my daughter really liked the hot chocolate! My wife and daughter would hang at the pools in the afternoon and I would nap. They loved both the main pool and our quiet pool at Jamaica. We had a pool-view, first floor room, and it was never loud. In fact, you could go swimming whenever you wanted. It was great. I cannot say enough great things about this resort. In fact, it really was the highlight of our trip. While the parks have definitely seen their better days, the CB resort continues to impress.

If you have any questions, I would be glad to answer what I can.

What a GREAT review! We've stayed at POR once and CSR (which we love) twice, but you have me really excited for our trip next month! I hope we get our request of Jamaica 44 or 45 (not a deal breaker though).

We'll be at CBR late May/early June, and I have a question about taxis:).

I'm considering booking a few early morning (8:00 ish) ADRs for breakfasts at various resorts. Am I right thinking that it would be best to take a taxi rather than use Disney busses? How/where would I go about finding a taxi that early in the morning? Bell services, concierage? Should I tip anyone besides the taxi driver (I saw it mentioned in another post you should tip bell services if they call the taxi??). Probably dumb questions, but I've never used a taxi before!

We have found it a great thing to use a taxi for early ADRs at another resort. Otherwise you're using 2 modes of WDW Transportation and anything can happen. If we have early ADRs at a park, we'll just use the buses.

We used to call Bell Services the night before and have them schedule us a taxi for the next morning. But after over sleeping one morning and having Bell Services get us a taxi within 10 minutes of calling them, we now just call them the morning of. I usually call when I wake up and let them know what time I would like for us to be picked up. The taxi will come pick you up at the circular drive of your building. This does not allow for me to tip Bell Services as I'm doing everything over the phone.

How about an 8am Akershus ADR? Taxi for party of 8 or Bus?
We always take a bus to the parks and have never had a problem :) You'd be fine to take the bus because it goes right to the park, no stopping to get on the Monorail or grab a bus to another resort from a park.

Have you eaten breakfast there before? I have two boys, but I like the idea of being there early and they do like to meet Princesses :)

We have never had a problem taking a bus for an early ADR at a park. If it is at a resort that can be more tricky. We usually only book those when we have a car.

I have an 8 AM at Ohana. Does anyone know how long it takes to walk from MK to Ohana? I was thinking we could bus to MK and then walk. DH will not be a big fan of paying for a taxi when "there is a perfectly acceptable bus sitting there waiting to take us". :/

Take bus to MK, then monorail. That's the way we go every year. I don't know if you even can walk, but the monorail would be quicker...and much more fun!

You won't be able to walk to Poly...but the monorail and boats are lovely :)

Hi everyone - I don't think the official resort event calendar for April is out yet, but does anyone know what time the movies by the pool might begin? I'm trying to decide what time to have dinner at Shutters to allow us enough time to make it to the movie. Also, this is on Easter if that matters. Does anyone know if the resort will have special events for the holiday? TIA! :)

If you do decide to take an early bus, you may even get a drop-off at the Poly. The last time we went from CBR, the driver asked all the passengers where we were going and dropped us off at the resort on the way to MK. He also stopped at the Contemporary.

I've been a long time lurker, but I've decided to come out of hiding to ask a quick question. We'll be arriving in August late on a Thursday night. Our flight lands in Orlando at 10:45. How late is bell services available to take us and our luggage to our room?? We won't be able to use ME luggage delivery, so we'll be hauling it along with us, and I'm hoping we won't have to walk to our rooms toting all our luggage along! Thanks!

I'm fairly certain they are available at all hours. Shouldn't be a problem.

I hate to be a downer, but this trip was not very magical for us.

Some background: We have visited annually for the last four years and once years ago. We stayed offsite twice, once at WL, once at POFQ and this last time we are at CBR. We have had great trips every time except this last one.

For this trip it is myself, DH, DS3, DS24 And Niece 12. This was DN's first trip and we were celebrating her birthday and DS24's birthday.

First thing that kind of put a damper on the trip was my son was given a birthday card with his first name and my last name on it and inside it said Happy Birthday my niece's name - not that big a deal, but still.

Next thing that happened was we were given connecting rooms in Martinique Building 23. I had requested connecting rooms so that was great, BUT our rooms were filthy. And I don't mean just a little dirty. They were filthy. They were not the refurbished rooms, which was fine, but there was hair in the tub in one room, one room's toilet was dirty - I won't go into detail here, but it was very bad - the carpets looked like they had not been vacuumed, very dirty, and the carpet was actually coming up in places, there were bobby pins that weren't ours all over the dressing area floor with hair in them, just really dirty.

I have never called to complain, but I did this time. I felt I had to. They told me CBR was booked to capacity so I couldn't get new rooms but that they would give the rooms a thorough cleaning while we were out for the evening. This was about 4:30, and we left for dinner at Biergarten.

When we were at Biergarten and went to pay our bill, our PIN number didn't work for our Magic Bands. We had two rooms so our credits were on two sets of bands, which caused confusion and multiple mixups that I had to visit concierge about, but that's another story. Anyway, they had to call CBR and have me speak to concierge. The cast member rudely told me that I should have made sure this issue was taken care of at check-in. I thought my number was the same one I used for My Disney Experience, and no one at check-in even mentioned our PIN numbers. He took care of the PIN number by resetting it. When I asked if we would be using the same PIN for the other room, he told me that was for the guests in that room to take care of, not me. I politely told him that the guests in the other room were my son and niece and he took care of their PIN number too as if it were a huge chore and I was an idiot - extremely rude. I have never before been treated this way at Disney.
By now we were all frustrated and tired.

We went back to our rooms where balloons and chocolate and two birthday cards were waiting. Unfortunately the cards were made out to two of us who were not having birthdays and our rooms were still filthy!

Now we realized our TVs were not working. We realized the cables were not plugged into the wall nor into the TVs themselves. The clocks weren't plugged in either. The blow dryer in one of the rooms literally shot flames out as I was drying my hair - luckily out the opposite side from the one facing me and the little round thing on the end of the dryer shot across the room. I called to ask for a new dryer and was not sent one by the next day so I called again. Still no dryer after 48 hours. I called again. I never did get a new dryer for that room. I just used the one in the other room.

Our rooms were cleaned the next day after I called again so that was good. On two occasions we did not receive any fresh towels. And, like I said, on six different occasions we had problems with our dining credits on our Magic Band where our credits would not show up on the bands and we would have to charge our meals to our room and then visit concierge and have them credit us back and charge the meals as dining credits. I spent several hours taking care of dining credit problems.

Even with all of this, we did manage to have a good time. I mean, hey, we are in Disney World. On the positive side, the buses were good and we didn't mind the extra stops. We only had to wait five or ten minutes on most occasions. A couple of times we waited a little longer but it wasn't bad.

I think that maybe our room may have been set up to be refurbished with everything being unplugged and the mess. And then maybe they were overbooked and decided to give us these rooms after all. That's just a guess of course.

Anyway, I think we just had a few unfortunate mishaps on this trip. It was enough to make us decide not to come back for a few years, but not enough to make us give up entirely. I did speak to another family on the bus and they had the same reaction as us. They were staying in Martinique as well. They said their room was also very dirty and that they were happier staying at Pop Century last year.

Just for everyone's information this was Martinique standard. I would definitely request some other place if you're staying standard.

I think every resort runs into it's problems like this. In Dec 2012 we had a bad experience at Pop Century. The tv kept turning off, you had to hold the lever up in order to make the water run through the shower instead of down at the tub level, the sink drain kept clogging up, and the A/C kept shutting off. After our trip I complained and they were able to go back through the log to see my numerous calls for maintenance issues. They gave us a free 3 night stay voucher with no expiration and no blackout dates.

How late is bell services available to take us and our luggage to our room??
In my experience they run 24/7. We were severely delayed connecting in Denver on our very first trip to WDW and they were more than happy to take us to our room in a van at 3 AM. They also asked if we wanted our luggage held until morning (back before the 10 PM cutoff came in) and made sure were had everything we needed for the night. You should have no problem at all.
