We'll be at CBR next month (SO EXCITED). I've read that the Epcot fireworks can be heard from the resort. Can you actually see them as well? If so, what's the best viewing spot?

I've watched EPCOT Holiday Illuminations from the second floor of an Aruba building (stand on the side viewing the parking lot). I found that the Holiday Illuminations is longer and has some higher fireworks parts so I not sure how great regular Illuminations is. We were staying in a Bermuda building on the second floor and I heard Illuminations BOOMS clearly every night.
More recently we stayed in Martinique and I can't recall if the booms were as loud.

Hi everyone! ! As soon as I get my 1st paychec ( just started working as a registered nurse) I will be booking for just my husband and i. We will be there November 12-19th. Thus is the 1st trip since our honeymoon that we have not been with family. We will be celebrating his 40th birthday on the day and celebrating mine early. I am so excited! I have not stayed here since it first opened. Any advice is greatly appreciated. TIA

Just checked in! They didn't have us in a refurbished room because it wasn't counting our 2 year old twins. I asked if we could have one since we are a family of 5. We are in Barbados 13. We haven't walked to Old Port Royale yet but I know it's far. It's a very nice room though. Loving it so far!

Have a fab trip :)

My boyfriend and I are staying at CBR for 4 nights in may, firT time either of us has been to this resort. I'm not worried about the size or which building to request, but I have seen reports of people being upgraded to pirate rooms. That would not be an upgrade for us at all, as we want queen beds. Does this happen often? If so, can we decline the upgrade? Sorry if this has been asked before!

Been away from the DIS for too long....so good to be back!

Happy to see a lot of refurbishments are done!

Beach Bum Roll Call - my and my two Hooligans, DS8 & DS5 May 3-10!

It does not happen often at all. Unless they have a major issue with a big block of rooms taken out of service, yes you can turn down the "upgrade" to the Pirate rooms.

Hi. Ill be there next Saturday for my ds's HS baseball team is playing at WWoS.

I was told on thtis thread there is not a gym. The boys as well as I will very much miss not having a gym. I giess we will just run when we can. What has anyone else done that misses the gym.

Yup, there's no gym. The promenade that surrounds the lake is 1.5 miles. If you break off and head to the end of Trinidad South and then back to continue the loop it goes to 2.25 miles around. Very enjoyable run too.

When I book our room, would it be worth requesting that it not be near a smoking area? Have any of you ever had a room near one of the smoking areas and smelled the smoke in your room?

I have asthma and have never had a problem in all our stays at CBR. I always joked with my wife that I think only non-smokers stay here. :rotfl2:
