Just paid our trip in full!!!!! This is the 1st vacation my husband and I have completely paid for ourselves! Fool owing your dreams really do pay off! Now I just need the next 115 days to fly by!
54 days and counting here. Is it September 13 yet?

A little surprised reading trip advisor that people recently felt the rooms outdated. Wasn't the entire resort refurbished?

All of the standard and preferred rooms were recently refurbished so I can't see why anyone would say that they are outdated.

Does anyone know if the store sells Aloe gel (in case of a sunburn). We do our best to prevent sunburns, so we probably won't need it. But, if one of us accidentally gets one, I was just curious if I could buy Aloe gel in the store, rather than lugging the big bottle down in the suitcase! Thanks!

There were several different kinds of sunburn ointment for sale in the store when we were there in May.

I read somewhere that Trinidad south is all pirate rooms. Is that true?

That is correct. All Trinidad South buildings are pirate themed rooms.

This may have been answered already, does CB have monitors with the bus time schedule

No they do not.

We leave tomorrow :yay::dogdance::jumping1::dancer: Just have to get through work today.....:thumbsup2

Have a great trip!!!!!

I know this is a great resort for families with children but since there is just my husband and I, will it be swarming with kids? don't get me wrong, I love kids but this is just a trip for the two of us.

The resort is very family friendly but it's also great for couples. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there as a couple without kiddos. (that is if my kiddos would ever let us go to Disney without them LOL)

Thanks Mickeystoontown! we had no idea if it was a good place to stay for we "old" folks! lol Actually, we have reservations at POFQ but when the new fall rates came out CBR was $800.00 cheaper for what we already booked! I do think we will stay at POFQ though just for the quietness and the convenience. If anyone else out there is hunting for a deal, look up the new Fall rating deals! there are a few good ones out there still!

You are welcome! Oh wow! $800.00 would be a no-brainer for me but, then again, we love the CBR so that's another factor. We have stayed at POFQ before although it was just for one night prior to our stay at the CBR. FQ was too much like home for us (we live in Louisiana) and, while we thought that it was beautiful, we will probably just stick with the CBR from now on.

We have 7 adults going, no kids, and debated between this and POFQ. Both seem to be great for adults only from everything I read. I don't think we are going to be sorry. ;)

I am curious though if the ratio of adults to kids increases as the resort price goes up. Like are there less kids in a moderate vs value resort...

I don't know what it is, but CBR has never felt crowded and we've been there when I know for sure it was full. Christmas week and several busy spring break stays have been surprising calm and quiet around the resort. Sure the buses will be busier, and if there are sports groups there, you'll see them at the pool and food courts. DW and I now usually go alone and we don't feel annoyed or put out at all. Mind you we're both teachers with 30+ years in the classroom so kid rich environments are something that we're used to.

It's just my hubby and me, too and we're staying at CBR in a little over 2 months.

Same for our family. We stayed at the CBR when it was at capacity and the resort itself didn't seem that crowded to us. Like you said, the buses were busier/fuller but the resort itself was pretty quiet. Having said that, the afternoon pool parties can get a little loud (in my opinion) if you are nearby but it's nothing that can't be avoided by lounging around the beach or the quiet pools.

I would think that values would attract more families with young kids. Not that moderates don't attract kids, but last 2 times that we were at CBR, it seemed to be a lot of extended families...kids, parents, grandparents...and that most of the people were 21+. Just my observation.

I am curious if anyone has recently done the touring plans room request and if so, how it worked out. I know a few did it a few months ago, I'm just looking for new updates. I have filled one out for our October trip, but am on the fence about submitting it. Part of me thinks I may have better luck with just the online check in and current requests that are on my reservation.

We just got home last night after an 8 day trip. We did the TP request and got nowhere close to our building request, but did get 2nd floor and not placed on the smoking section of the building which was part of my request. I requested Jamaica 4556 and in that vicinity. We were placed in Aruba 55. In my online check-in I requested Jamaica and 2nd floor, and I also called in requests of Jamaica 45 or 44, 2nd floor, and away from the smoking section side of the building.

This location was convenient to the bus stop, but quite a hike to OPR with little 4 and 6 year old legs. We did get an email and a text saying that our room was ready before we arrived, but I did stop in to the Custom House to see if there was anyway to change our location. They were kind enough to check for me, but said that the only other location available was in Barbados which I did not want to be in. Overall, it wasn't my first choice, but not a terrible location.

We just got home from an 8 day trip. It was our first time at CBR after many times at POR. We are a family of 5, so we were excited to have another Moderate option. I loved the renovated rooms, especially the sliding door to the bathroom area. Our location wasn't our first choice, but was fine. I would most likely book a preferred room next time just to be closer to OPR. I though I would take a chance with a standard room and request Jamaica 45 or 44, but it didn't work out. Not a bad location, just not my first choice.

Busses were fine. Our only long wait was over 20 minutes for a Hollywood Studios bus. I used the phone to call transportation to ask when one would be coming after 3 Epcot, 2 MK, 2AK, and 2 Downtown Disney busses came. After that one arrived within a couple of minutes. Not sure if my call made a difference. Never really long waits returning to the resort from the parks either.

Comparing to POR, I really loved that the food court was next to the pool. It was very easy to use our mugs to get a drink to have by the pool, and for the walk back to the room. I did not like the food court as much as POR. I found it much more difficult to navigate, to see what all the options were before deciding on what to have, and if the kids each wanted something from a different station. I also think that POR has a better selection with their salad station and make your own pasta station. We only ate lunch here once and breakfast on our last morning. I wouldn't let the food court be the reason to not stay here again, and the fact that it is next to the main pool was a much better location than POR in my opinion.

Mousekeeping was fine. Nothing great, nothing terrible. The room was clean. Two days we requested not to have housekeeping come in, and requested they leave towels. One day, they left a bag of towels on the door, and one day they did not. Not a huge deal. I did not have a folder or "Do Not Disturb" hanger in the room, so I just used a post-it note and stuck it to the door. One day that they did come in to clean the room was a little odd. When we got back to the room in the evening, one of the beds was made and one was half made with the bed runner and decorative pillow on the floor in the corner. The clean towels were left in a pile on the sink without being put away where they normally would be put, and tub/toilet part of the bathroom had not been not cleaned. We were left with no toilet paper refill and an empty kleenex container. The tip was taken off the sink, however. It really wasn't a big deal, just odd. It was as if they cleaned half the room, and something sidetracked them, and they forgot to return to finish the job.

The resort never did feel crowded, except Sunday morning the pool got pretty crowded. Overall, we really liked the resort, and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. It has a great vibe, and very relaxing feel. We also still love POR, but it is great to have another option for a family of 5. We may try AoA suites or rent DVC points next time around just to have an additional bathroom now that the kids are getting bigger.
