Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

In case anybody didn't read the description, and is getting confused by the comments, this is from the official Disney Parks blog:

Waterside strolls will be extra special with storybook sweet treats and dreamy desserts at The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, a new table service restaurant and bakery that’s sure to delight. Expected to open in 2023, this restaurant will offer both savory and dessert menus, along with afternoon tea service, in a whimsical atmosphere that complements the magic of the idyllic charm of Disney’s BoardWalk that guests know and love.

And with this new sweet spot on the horizon, the BoardWalk Bakery will become a new sandwich shop for guests to enjoy a bite along the water’s edge, joining other current food and beverage locations like BoardWalk Ice Cream.
Through the doors of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, light and airy touches will reinvigorate the lobby, lounge and guest rooms, carrying the seaside breeze right inside. Just off the lobby, a new coffee bar with artisanal beverages and quick bites will be available to-go or in newly refreshed seating spaces inside or outdoors.

Well reading that it looks like the coffee bar will not take the place of the lounge. I wonder where it will go then. Will they use some of the porch space maybe?

If anyone is wondering what the inside of ESPN looks like currently, I snagged this within the current week. A door was open randomly😅653799

"Off the lobby" to me means it has to either be the lounge getting retooled or maybe doing away with the little dvc store on the other side(given they have another large store right downstairs with essentiallythe same stuff)?

there is also a concerige desk at the end of the lobby that doesn't seem to get much use. maybe a coffee bar could go there?

In the description for the coffee bar it says, "just off the lobby". The concierge desk is IN the lobby. I think the store or the Belle Vue (unfortunately) are more likely if that description is accurate.

After being around the Boardwalk in 2020, 2021 and 2022 post covid, I welcome any additional restaurant versus spaces sitting empty. That being said, If the menu at the Cake Bake Shop for food is still mainly sandwiches, that is disappointing with the Boardwalk Bakery being sandwiches as well. I hope with additional space, they will feather out the menu at the Cake Bake Shop to include a bit more. It looks like one of the existing locations has a slighter fuller menu and when it opens, I am sure to give it a try.

While they are at it, they also need to majorly clean up BRG too. We were there in January and boy was it in need of some TLC and a scrub down inside.

I haven't gone into Big River Grill since 2016 or so. Even then it could have used a good scrub!

Seriously, we will never again!

Also, I read an interesting article today speculating the introduction of Disney IP into the resorts theming of the rooms.

They referenced the trend of Poly, Contemporary and Grand Floridian all getting IP infused refreshes which could indicate a potential IP infusion into Boardwalk. I thought it was interesting to think about and if so what IP would fit or would people want?

When we were there last month that store was barely even open. Only opened at like 3 PM. So maybe that would be the spot.

I was wondering if the coffee shop was going into the Bellevue Lounge. Not sure where else they would put it.

I know we are all guessing at this point, but as the the Disney blog announcement states “just off the lobby”, along with “indoor & outdoor space“, It seems quite probable it is the Bellevue lounge space

Agreed. I know we are all just guessing at this point, but with the “just off the lobby” verbiage along with “indoor and outdoor seating”, my guess is it is the Bellevue lounge space. If that is the case not sure why it couldn’t be a coffee shop during daytime hours, and a wine bar or something at night.

Yeah this exactly.

Yeah, the line about seating makes think it almost has to be the lounge barring it be a new spot entirely

I agree about the Bellevue - perfect spot for something like the coffee shop at the Riviera.

Has anyone ordered to go from Trattoria? More specifically, anyone had their pizza? We planned on eating low key one night while at Boardwalk and everyone is saying big river grille is nasty so was looking at back up plan. Ordering pizza and relaxing by pool sounds better. Just seeing how good is.

We ordered from the pizza window one night and ate on the boardwalk
No complaints on the pizza
For what it is worth - we had lunch at big river on arrival day - we did not have a reservation and the food was good - we enjoyed it

That’s good to hear. Yeah not doing the pizza window. Was wondering if anyone had ordered pizza from the restaurant, Trattoria?

I've never ordered their pizza, but I can tell you I've eaten there many times for breakfast and dinner, and never had a bad meal.
