Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Those creepy chairs, or "Nanny" chairs, one goes by the name of Todd btw, have been there since our very first stay at BW many years ago. I've also heard that there are supposedly 4 of them at the resort. They're classics now! I've also heard the claim by some people at the resort, to not look them directly in the eyes. :scared: Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately for some, I can only locate one chair photo on my laptop! LOL!

@LadyTramp94 I enjoy all of the wonderful details in the BW lobby... well..not all...lol..(I have already voiced my opinion about the creepy nanny chairs!! Lol) ..including the Lucy the Elephant! And her Jersey Shore history! For many many years I was a tried and true GF gal and stayed mostly nowhere else..but if not the GF..definitely a MK/monorail resort...and then...we tried the BWI...and I was so won over! Also decided to spread my wings and tried the BC and the YC too...for us..BC one and done..glad we tried it tho..and .we'd definitely return to the YC..but the BW is our favorite! I think it really has the most detailed theming..and some of the best CMs on property too...and not that we don't still enjoy the GF...we enjoy the BW..and actually the whole Epcot/ Crescent Lake area and vibe so much more..

LUCY the Elephant! I love it❣️
And I, too, share your thoughts and experiences about these resorts🥰

OMG, I looked into Todd’s eyes!!!
I think I’m crazy! Oh NOOOOO😱🤪:rotfl2:

Yes there are 4 of the nanny chairs, 2 in the lobby and 2 that move around the resort from time to time... Their names are Paul, Alexander, Carrie and Todd.

Note: What is a nanny chair? They were found on old carousals for adults that attended to the children as they rode the more popular apparatus on the carousals.

@PirateNovelist I don't recall ..is this your first BWI stay?? If so..you are definitely in for a treat!
Anyone heard any word on ESPN Club returning?? My DH loved just poping in there for an afternoon break (maybe from myself and the whole family..lol!!)..and some sports and a drink and some wings...more important is Flying Fish...I keep on checking...

This is my first stay at BWI. It's my second overall trip to DW. I was 8 the last time I went and I am 30 now.

The reason my party chose the Boardwalk is, my mom used to go to the Jersey boardwalk every year so it made the most sense. Plus it being so close to Epcot made it a no brain decision.
You'll also be within walking distance of Disney's Hollywood Studios.

We think the Boardwalk is great! Love the location! Love the theming! Love the dining options!

Hope you plan to spend some time having a drink and relaxing by the pool!

I actually thought those nanny chairs were some kind of old fashioned scary "time out" chairs!!! Lol...very interesting details on their origin....thanks for sharing that info!
I'm a resort stroller...and have come across the other 2 nanny chairs on the first floor in the wing to the right after you exit the elevator...twice the fright...lol...
Love the Nanny chairs but I loved the clown pool too lol
To each their own...lol...I kinda liked the clown pool too..altho..at night..with those eyes lit up......lol
I just realized that Carrie, if that's her, had her nails done!
A girl..even a nanny chair needs her glam...

Going to be a great trip! BW location makes it so easy to get to DHS and Epcot..not to mention the Friendships...a very nice and relaxing way to travel...but there is so much more to this resort besides it's wonderful location...be sure to take the time a look around..there are beautiful pictures above the front desk and around the lobby of many different Disney castles...and of course the displays that harken back to the Jersey Shore/Atlantic City hey day..and then theres the background music! It's really so immersive! Leaping Horse Libations is a great spot for an afternoon drink..there are lots of umbrella table to relax at..and altho the menu is limited..there are some nice light meal choices...
And then..there's the Boarwalk itself...the view across Crescent Lake..the shops..well its really one big long shop...lol...the dining choices..and let me strongly suggest a stop at Boardwalk Joe's for a slushy drink like the Captains Seaside Sensation..think dole whip and Captain Morgan's spiced rum! Abracadabar is a fun stop after an evening in the parks..great atmosphere...there are pictures with moving eyes...lol..wonder if there are any nanny chairs in there..I kid...lol..activities on the Village Green..and let me not forget the Bellevue Lounge..a true hidden gem..another great spot for a quick breakfast...or an evening drink...beverages only...for some reason there are no appetizers offered here...and there's the new ice cream shop too...still lamenting the loss of Ample Hills tho...there's more..but...I'm probably running out of space! Enjoy everything! And please come back and share with us what you think!

They KNOW something!!
I think they do...:scared1:..lol...
Thanks again BW friends...the nanny chair chatter really made me laugh!
Happy Friday!

We had a recent stay at BWI from July 31-August 5. Anyone who has followed my stays at BWI in the past knows that for whatever reason, this resort layout really confuses me. So when we got our room number and began the walk to our room, I thought OH NO here we go again . But happily, this trip I did much better learning my way. I think a big part that messes me up is that it seems like the DVC rooms are where I always thought the Inn rooms are (near main pool and fitness room - don't take those elevators if staying in the Inn portion, lol).

I booked a standard room and received Room 3323. It was quite a hike, but we discovered different staircases (leading to different areas....) and we ended up not minding the location as it was very quiet. Not even sure if anyone was near us as we never heard or saw anyone on our floor.

Cons:
> Room needs TLC. Door to balcony did not latch shut. We had to hold it closed and then turn the lock. Learned this the hard way as we came back to our room the first night and our balcony door was wide open.
> To refill mug had to walk to Boardwalk Bakery. Not many drink options there. Only DH got the mug because of this.
> Check-in was backed up and really slow. I had to go to front desk at 5pm-ish to check on room status. She said "not ready" but she'd make a note we were waiting. Lots of other people waiting too.

Pros:
> Lots of good food and snacks on the boardwalk.
> Room stayed consistently cool.
> Lots of outlets and USB ports.
> I know it's luck of the draw, but buses were very good and of course the walk to HS and Epcot is very convenient.
> All in all, great stay and we will stay there again (hopefully CL)!

Room 3323. Standing-only balcony. 2 Queens and Daybed.

..but I swear I saw the Leaping Horse Libations guys filling up the resort cups with soda/water, etc from the bar.

Oh yes you are right and DH did get a refill when we were at the pool. While in the room, though, he usually went out to the boardwalk bakery. It would be nice if there was a refill place inside the lobby area somewhere.....not sure where they'd put it though. It would just be more convenient than heading outside. However, we really enjoyed all of the food options on the boardwalk and grabbed a snack almost every night!

I know it isn't open right now but it would be nice if you could do it at the Belle Vue Lounge.

Staying during Marathon Weekend in a Garden View room... likihood of hearing the runners/commotion from the room? Just how far are the garden view rooms from the actual boardwalk? This is the only thing holding me back!
