Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

@kimmar067 glad you are feeling better..best wishes for a complete recovery..

Do all standard club level rooms at BWI have balconies? Thank you! We’re booked for November and cannot wait!
All standard CL rooms do have balconies...but some are bigger than others..no juliettes that I know of...but .there are some with standard railing..andvare more open..and some with an elcosed type of balcony...which does hold 2 chairs..but definitely seems a bit smaller...hth...
Our last BW CL stay we had a view of the inner garden area...and were able to watch the skyliner glide by!
BWI CL is outstanding! Both food offerings and CMs...have a great time...:goodvibes

Hello, For an upcoming trip I have access to either a Boardwalk Inn Garden Cottage with Club Level access or an Animal Kingdom Lodge CL savanna view room. The Boardwalk cottage is better from the transportation aspect but is pricier. The AKL is beautiful and we've stayed there several times but as far as transportation goes it not so great. Does anyone have thoughts about the Boardwalk cottage? It looks pretty cool with your own garden and entrance gate, but the interior looks dated. This will be for the week leading up to Halloween and that's why I'm worried about the transportation angle of things, especially with the 50th anniversary in full swing. We will have a rental car so that would probably help. I just could use some guidance on this one. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Michael

The BWI is a great location with easy access to 2 parks by walking or making use of a Friendship boat. There are only 2 downsides to the Cottages is that they are outside of the main building and they are 2 levels. The bedroom is upstairs and the sitting area on the first level.

It is a quite a hike for some guests to the Inn Keeper's CL lounge on the 4th floor of the BWI. From your cottage you have to walk through part of the courtyard (outside) and up stairs to the 2nd floor (lobby level) or into the first floor to take the elevator to the 4th floor and walk down the hallway to the CL entrance.

At the AKL the regular CL rooms are on the 4th floor and the CL lounge is on the 6th floor so you are much closer to the lounge.

Yeah, it would be nice, but Orange County is a high-risk area for Covid.

It's worse here now than it was in January.
We had 5900+ cases in the county last week with a 17% positivity rate over the last 14 days.

Thanks. I didn't think I was violating the rules, or starting a debate. Do you want me to delete my post?

Our first stay at the boardwalk is coming up this week! We're arriving early afternoon on Friday and have made zero concrete plans when we get there besides just exploring the resort and going to Beaches & Cream (we do have an ADR for that in the evening).

What's the first (or second!) thing you like to do when you get to boardwalk? Or what should be our must-dos?

Also, anyone ever get BBQ chicken wings delivered to your resort? Any recommendations? We have a college football game my wife and I are excited to watch and thought we might try to get some delivered since I don't think that's available anywhere near us on property.

Thanks!

Our first BWI stay was in a garden cottage! We loved it and stayed both floorplans several times. Didn‘t mind the walk up to the CL, since Jackie had shown us that secret passage and the stairs we no mind for our younger bodies.

Our favorite cottage was the one located directly underneath the CLs lounge.
I always felt this flooplan was larger, offered a huge balcony overlooking the quiet pool, plus the bedroom was private! After the hustle-bustle of the parks, it was heaven to return to such a peaceful place.:cloud9:

Simply love this elegant place with first class service!🥰

So....just a little FYI. We have 2 reservations for the first week of December..BWI water view and a standard view-CL. While I'm still not convinced that I'll want to go with the lack of daily housekeeping,etc...my husband sez "we're going"! So I tried to make a payment via the phone..which I've done a lot in the past. Today, due to technical difficulties, I was forced on hold...saying it'll be at least 30 minutes. I realized that SS had left me a message last week, saying to call with any questions. So...I thought..signature services...will they take my payment? Low and behold, with no hold time at all, they did take my payment. We chatted about what to maybe expect with regards to BWI-CL when it opens later this month. At this time, she wasn't sure that there would be a chef and also not sure that the Sunday brunch Bloody Mary/Mimosa stuff would be happening. She also has a reservation for BWI later in December and is also curious to see how things go later this month when CL opens. She did say that it's not gonna be prepackaged stuff...it'll be mostly what it used to be..just the whole chef thing seems to be up in the air.

The first thing I do is get the lay of the land!!! And by lay of the land I mean explore everywhere!!! I walk the whole boardwalk going in and out of every resort— BWI, BC, YC, Swan and Dolphin to see what is there. You’ll then know all the good places to get what to eat and check out all the gift shops, how far things are, and that they really not all that far.
But when I stay at a resort, I’m actually staying at every resort in the area!!! ( Not the pool of course)

That’s a great tip and info about calling them!!!
Looking forward to BWI CL it sounds great!

I will tell you that yes, there is going to be a chef up there! I have talked to some people, Chef Redgie who was there before the shut down for one, and there will be a chef in the evening.

Frankly, my highlight is simply arriving and dropping off my luggage with bell services. It means my vacation has just started!

Since you are arriving early afternoon, there's no guarantee the room will be ready. I suggest dropping off most of your luggage with bell services, changing into your bathing suites, and heading to Luna Pool.

Once your room is ready (you should receive a text), head to the room at your convenience and change for your evening meal at Beaches & Cream. It will still be hot so you are best off exploring the Boardwalk itself once it cools down in the evening. Depending on what time dinner is, this could be the hour before or hour after.

I believe Giordano's pizza still delivers to the Boardwalk Inn. They have lots of appetizers, including BBQ chicken wings and boneless nuggets. But definitely call them ahead of time (day before?) to confirm delivery hours. (I think you need to meet them out front by bell services - I don't think anyone is allowed to deliver to the room.)

I am so excited to be going back to my favorite resort in January!

I have two nights booked for a standard studio on the villa side. Then I noticed the following night was available but it was garden view.

Now they are two separate reservations but I would prefer to just stay in the same room the whole time. Anyone have any experience with this??

I really don’t have a preference in view, I would just prefer to not have to move rooms as this will already be a split stay with GDT.

They are 2 different room categories. Sorry, you'll have to move rooms.
