Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

I am not too sure if this has been asked and answered but does anyone know if AOA has free wifi? If yes, how reliable is it? If not, how's the 4G/LTE connection? Choppy? Solid? DH is taking an online test scheduled on Nov. 12 and we will be relying on our iPhones and iPad for schoolwork. We are staying in the Little Mermaid section. TIA!

Yes, like the PP said the wifi is free, but I would be very nervous about relying on it for something as important as a test! Reliability comes and goes. It did seem better at AoA than when we stayed at AKL if that makes you feel better...but there was a tech convention going on when we were at AKL- wifi was a joke!

Wifi was horrible inside the rooms. You may want to seek prior the test to find the strongest signal around the resort.

Not sure about LM, but wifi was great in Cars rooms. 4G/LTE was non-existent in the room but fine just outside.

We had no issue with wifi for our iPads and such in the rooms but cell service was terrible. Rarely ever able to complete a call without dropping it inside of the room. Outside it was fine.

We were in a LM room two weeks ago, third floor, facing the lake. WiFi was great! :thumbsup2

Is there any special request I should make for a Nemo room when doing online check in? Is there an advantage or disadvantage as to what floor?

Definitely. Top floor will be quieter. In addition, lake view would face AWAY from the pool - and pool facing will be noisier - especially in the afternoon. Now, there is also only ONE central elevator and the buildings are LARGE. So - if you are using a stroller or have folks who don't want to take the stairs - then request the main entry floor.

WiFi in our room (LK suite) was not bad, but there was ZERO AT&T phone service in the room. Much of the resort is a dead zone (or weak) for AT&T. My Verizon phone worked fine.

I apologize if this has been droned on and on about, but I'm looking for recent info regarding the coffee makers.. If I wanted to bring my own coffee, what would I bring (ie. senseo pods, kcups, etc..)?

It's a Cuisinart two pods coffee maker (you can look that up online to see it). I'm not sure what the "pods" are - but it's definitely not K-Cups. They give you some Joffey coffee pods each day and I asked for more and received more.

We were just there in Nemo, and had no problems with the wifi at all. We were on 4th floor bldg 5. Room was clean and quiet except for hallway noise. I don't think I heard anything from nearby rooms, but people in the hall were clear as anything. Somewhat frustrating for the kid sleeping on the table bed. We really enjoyed it, although I think if we stayed again in a suite we would go with cars. I found walking by the pool every day to be kind of annoying, I preferred the "peace and quiet" walk through Radiator Springs better.

We are two weeks out and staying in a LM room. We've been lucky enough to stay at Beach Club the past few years so we were getting used to the easy park commute!

Anyone have an estimate in travel times from AoA to parks and DTD?

We are really looking forward to staying here!

I think it took us about 20 minutes or so. Makes a stop at Blizzard Beach on the way to, but wasn't too bad.

Never made it out to DTD or AK this time, but to EPCOT and DHS-- it took us 15 min or less. MK was more like 20. Although we ran into some pretty serious transportation issues at the TTC on our EMH morning at MK, that next time, we would definitely take the bus!

We were also in a LM room 2 weeks ago and had no problems at all with wifi or AT&T service. 2nd floor, back building, facing the back. And quiet as could be!!

Since the food court uses proper plates etc, do they give you paper plates if you ask, say if you want to take food to your room etc?

I do believe I've read several places that say you will have paper plates and plastic cutlery in your room. Not sure if this only goes for the suites or not, though.

So about how far was the walk to Animation Hall/buses?

We check in to a LM room next Friday.

They gave us paper plates when we ordered a large pizza so I believe they would give them out if you asked.

If you tell them you want your food "to go", they will put everything in disposable containers.
