Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

We had planned on using 2 air mattresses on our last trip but our then 8 yo decided that the cushions from the sofa made a perfect bed for her (I got extra sheets and covered the cushions when she slept on them on the floor). My teenage daughter slept on an air mattress. We put it right in front of the kitchenette. We just moved the trash and recycle bins to a different spot and there was still access to the kitchenette if needed. And DD could see the TV. During the day, we just stood the mattress on end between the kitchenette and the couch so it was out of the way.
What size air mattress did you use? I think the one we have is a full sized

We have a 4pm reservation at Hoop Dee Doo Revue. Anyone have experience with how long we will need to allow to get there from AoA? And the best route of transit? I really wish we had a 615 :( Not overly thrilled with 4 but we planned this late so boo to me! lol

I'm afraid a full size would take up the whole area between the couch bed and the Murphy, blocking everyone from getting in/out. I think a twin would work way better, or if you're driving, a camp cot would be even better.

Hi all, I have combed the threads and haven't found this information. I apologize if this has been asked before.
Can anyone tell me how big the master bedroom closet is in the family suites? Or even better yet have a picture? I have been looking at pictures and watching videos but I don't understand where you are supposed to store luggage for 6 people.
Also, it looks like a twin sized air mattress will fit between the bed and master bathroom and still leave a bit of room for walking. Am I right? My DS doesn't want to share a bed with anyone.
We are planning an October trip. First time staying at AOA! Really looking forward to exploring a new resort!
Thanks in advance!

We used a twin size mattress. As a PP said, I think a full-sized one would fit in front of the kitchenette area but it would take up all of the space. And it would be more challenging to stand it up against the wall to get it out of the way during the day. Personally, I'd invest in a twin-size air mattress for the trip. You'll have more flexibility with where you use it and store it.

This link is a picture of the "closet" in the master bedroom. http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/showphoto.php/photo/83442/title/cars-family-suite-005/cat/1583

We had 6 people in a suite when we went in 2013. We use mostly soft-sided luggage because we drive and it's packs more efficiently. We did, however, have two small hard-sided pieces of luggage with us on that trip. I folded up the luggage rack in the closet and then basically stacked all of the luggage on the floor. I also put some of the smaller bags on the shelf (we used the extra pillows so they weren't stored up there). There are several other "nooks" in the room where you could stash luggage -- like on the other side of the dresser or next to the nightstands in the Master Bedroom. I found there to be quite a bit of storage space in the suites -- shelves in each of the closets, storage above the top of the kitchenette, storage below the sinks in the bathrooms, etc.

As far as a twin air mattress between the bed and bathroom....I'm sure it will fit, but it will be challenging to get to the bathroom -- there might be a little room to walk around it (lengthwise) but you'd probably have to step over it. And you'd have to leave the door to the master bedroom from the main room either open or closed while the mattress is on the floor. We had our twin-size air mattress on the floor in front of the kitchenette. We just moved the trash & recycle bins and there was plenty of space for it. And you could walk around it.

Thanks Bluzy! I appreciate you answering. Apparently, I missed the pictures of the closet because I was expecting an actual closet. :)

I tried doing a search but didn't find an answer. I can do online check in next week and we are staying in a Finding Nemo suite. Is there anything in particular I should request? Like room location, or does it matter?
TIA!! :-)

Just to be absolutely clear, there are NO closets in the suites. There are two hanging spaces but other than that, you just have to find nooks and crannies to store cases and other stuff. We put purchases on top of the shelves in the living area, bedroom and kitchenette. There's also room (depending on the type of luggage you have) to put a case under the sinks in the bathroom.

What time should we be at the bus stop for an 8am breakfast at bog??!! Park opens at 9 that day
We found the buses at AoA to be excellent. As one for MK left, there would literally be another waiting behind early in the morning. So, to be at BoG for 8am I would recommend you're at the stop by 6.45am. It takes about 25 minutes to go door-to-door and then it's just a case of walking round to the MK entrance (bag check if need be) and then in through the far left hand side where they let the ADR guests in first.

I haven't stayed in Nemo, but I would look at the map on the first page and see where you'd like to be. We are staying in the Cars suites and request a building based on my son's character preference. Then we request the view we'd like, then floor.

We chose where to stay based on location, purely down to my limited mobility. Originally we were going to be in Lion King (building 10) but they could only give us a room at the far end of the building meaning it was too far for me to walk. There also isn't a laundry area in the Lion King section. When I asked about building 1 (Cars) we were given a perfect room (1501) which was the first one on the right as you go in through the main entrance. I'd just whack the wheelchair button and drive straight in, round the corner and there we were! We were literally yards from the building which housed the laundry, a couple of minutes from the car park through the end door opposite the main entrance or the end door turning left from the main building. We could also leave or enter through the end door nearest the food hall/Animation Hall/buses.

Also, having done a tour of the resort, we actually preferred the theming of Cars. DD and I sat down and watched 'Cars' again last night, and it was so lovely to see how accurate the theming in the hotel is - down to the floor lamp in the lounge area (3 cones) - absolutely identical to the ones in the Cones Motel that Lightning McQueen stays in.

If you want to be near the main pool (and the fabulous theming), either of the Nemo buildings will be fine, but you want to try and get the ends nearest Animation Hall and furthest away from the bridge over the lake to Pop Century.

We thought the Cars theming was the most well done as well. We stayed in 1531 in Building 1 and loved our room! Hoping to get similar room placement this trip!

Were they accommodating as far as changing your room? We are in a Lion King Suite this June and my Mom has limited mobility. Walking far distances is very hard for her. I am going to request a room in building 10 closest to the bus stop but am worried we will get there it will be at the other end.

Bearing in mind we'd booked through a TA and therefore couldn't ring Disney to tell them what my preferences would be, I think we were very lucky when checking in and I explained the situation. They can only allocate you the rooms they have available, of course. I'm sure we could have gone up above the ground floor, but it's far better if you have any sort of wheelchair or ECV to stay on the ground floor for ease of getting in and out.

That depends on if you will use stairs at all. The rooms at the end of the wings are close to steps which was convenient when I had to run out alone. Our room was in the middle of the wing closest to the main bldg. was close to the elevator and steps.
