Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Does anyone know if we could comfortably fit two scooters in the suites? I will definitely need one (knees that hate me) and a second person traveling with us may need one too. Just trying to determine logistics

It's not so much whether you can get two in, but more a case of where can you park them that's near an electric point for charging! I actually park my scooter on the bit of wall running in front of the kitchenette as there's a very convenient socket there. There's space on a couple of other walls but no sockets.

For a couple of days at the beginning of this week we saw a scooter being 'stored' in the main lobby against the wall just up from the main entrance (by the telephones). There are several electrical outlets there, and the scooter was plugged in a couple of times. I don't think you could 'store' a scooter in the lobby for any length of time, though - and there's certainly not enough room to store them in the hallways outside the room as the housekeeper carts are quite large and take up half the width of the corrider.

If we can park one by the kitchenette, I am wondering if we can park one in the bedroom?

We had a pack n play in the master between the bed and bathroom and it was a little in the way, but manageable.

What about the wall across from the Murphy bed? Although there may not be an outlet?

I'm curious at the usual check-in time. I know the official check-in time is 3pm. How often are you able to check-in early and get in your room prior to that? We'll be arriving between 1-2pm and would love to get settled in our room before heading out to the park. Right now, I've got an ADR scheduled at 5:10, I'd like to switch it to 4 so, we have more time at MK that night, but I'm also a little worried about making it there on time.

We haven't stayed at AoA since December of 2012, but we were able to check in at 1pm without doing online check-in. (It wasn't working due to all the changes with the Disney websites, etc.) I would just note your check-in time on online check-in and note that having your room ready is more important than any other room requests. (There is a button to click for this option.)

What is the bus situation like for this resort? Does it still have its own bus (i.e., doesn't share with other resorts)? And how crowded are the buses usually? At the last resort we stayed at, we had a lot of trouble with buses getting filled up and leaving people behind.

Also, we are traveling with six adults (two married couples and two single people). Is there room in the suites for a blow-up mattress?

It doesn't share and I find the bus service to be excellent! :thumbsup2

Thats typical for all resorts during busy times.

First of all, that's the wall the main door opens up against, and secondly there's no outlet. I did wonder about the wall alongside the actual table, but if you need to sit at the table then that's not going to work either. The space in the bedroom isn't sufficiently long to park a scooter. Parallel to the bed partially blocks the bathroom door, and the bit of wall between the bathroom and bedroom doors is also too short.

Seriously, the wall next to the kitchenette so that when parked up the front wheel is a good foot from the sink and only sticks out beyond the wall by a few inches. It really was the best place to put it.

Just wanted to say that in the 2 weeks we were there (flew home yesterday, arriving at home 11.30am this morning), we never waited long for a bus. I think the two longest waits were when we'd just missed a bus - and even then it wasn't long until the next one. On Saturday we were amazed because we arrived at the bus stop late and moved to the front of the wheelchair bit. The driver stopped loading passengers and went to move people to load us. We stopped him, saying that we'd only just arrived and it wasn't fair to push in. Had we been there before they'd loaded anyone, then that would have been different. He thanked me for being so kind, saying that someone earlier had actually insisted that they got loaded immediately!

As it happened, another MK bus was sitting waiting and we were on our way less than 5 minutes later (with the overflow of the queue who hadn't got on the first bus).

They were looking for a place to park a second to me s just trying to brainstorm ideas! I think the general consensus is there may not be an ideal pace for a second, but with some maneuvering or I convenience they may fit one in. We've never had a scooter though so mine were just suggestions.

Ah, I see. Well, depending where the room is, there are sort of regular 6-8" 'alcoves' in the walls in the hallways, some of which have sockets on them. So, it's possible the second could be parked in the corridor (although I would ask permission first).

Its our first trip and we're celebrating a birthday. If I do the online check-in, will I miss going to the desk and getting 1st time pins/birthday pins for the kids?

Even if you do online check in, you can still go to the desk and get your pins.

Ohhh....this is good to know! We are staying in the Lion King Suite in June and there will be 5 adults and 1 toddler and I know the adults arent all going to want to share a bed

We had planned on using 2 air mattresses on our last trip but our then 8 yo decided that the cushions from the sofa made a perfect bed for her (I got extra sheets and covered the cushions when she slept on them on the floor). My teenage daughter slept on an air mattress. We put it right in front of the kitchenette. We just moved the trash and recycle bins to a different spot and there was still access to the kitchenette if needed. And DD could see the TV. During the day, we just stood the mattress on end between the kitchenette and the couch so it was out of the way.
