I have a question about the night vision goggles that I have read. Do you have to request a pair at the front desk or are they around the resort to be used? Thanks. :)

Fridges and coffee makers are standard in all rooms at the AKL.

The CMs on Arusha Rock have the night vision goggles. I'm not sure what time they are used. The CMs will pass the goggles around for each visitor to use.

Last weekend the night vision goggles were out behind the pool, past the flamingo pond and the hot tub, overlooking Uzima Savanna from 9-11PM. There were 2 CMs (they are so informative) with 2 sets, they clean off the eyepieces of each pair between viewings. I was surprised how far and how clearly you could see with them !! One night we had a Bongo come up right beneath the overlook - he was just a few feet from us, even though we were above him - where else can you get that close to the wildlife?!!! Too cool! :smooth:

Glad to hear coffee makers are now standard in all rooms. One less thing we need to get added to our room requests.

GOOD news about the coffee makers! the longer a trip goes on, the mroe we end up needing that jolt! Vacations for us are all about going going going! We sleep when we get home. :thumbsup2 MAYBE someday I'll experience a relaxing vacation. :teeth:

Yes, of course, the coffee makers! They happen to keep them ON TOP OF THE REFRIDGERATORS!!! Duh! I remember now...I smuggled some creamers from Boma to the room for my coffee! I need to check in again, soon!

The deluxe rooms most certainly sleep 5 if you request either two queens, or 1 queen and bunkbeds. The deluxe rooms have a love seat that opens to sleep one. I am sorry but I don't know if the standard rooms sleep five. Does anyone else have some information on that for Crazy Konga?

...my DS and his friends were in there EVERY DAY, so when he is done with his shower, I'll ask him and post the info later....

OOH OOH Can you also ask him if the sauna is open to anyone or does it have to be reserved?

Also does anyone know how early you can book spa treatments and the costs?

Thanks,

Yvonne

Someone posted on another thread that AKL no longer offers bunk beds in standard rooms. Can anyone else verify this? :confused3 :confused3[/QUOTE

They changed it recently now you can't just request them you have to pay for them to be guaranteed and they are only available in pool or savanna view. If you look in the online reservations you can see all the options. I guess you could hope for an upgrade. They are about $40 extra per night over the regular pool or savanna rate. I've heard though that the pool view BB area is all smoking though which won't work for us....

We just got back from AKL last week and we had a pool view room with bunk beds and it was non-smoking. We didn't request bunk beds, but I'm glad we got them because the kids loved them. :thumbsup2 Our view was great, too! No roofs or trees blocking our view. Our room number was 4432 if that helps with location at all.

Thanks for the info. I have a pool view room view reserved in 2 weeks, and I'll definitely make note of the room #.
