I just bought the ingredients for a "Nahtazu". Will let you know how it turns out.

Recently returned from a stay at AKL. In the gift shop was a watch I now wish I had purchased. Supposedly, I can use the www. address given on the WDW resort receipts for online shopping, but I am having no luck with that website. Does anyone have the correct web address for online resort shopping?--not catalog shopping. Thanks.

We are planning our first visit to AKL in June/July. I read somewhere on this thread about somebody having connecting rooms. Since we are traveling with four teens, two being our daughter and her beau, I would LOVE to have the connecting rooms!!!! Does anybody know what the configuration of these connecting rooms might be? I was hoping for two rooms, one either a king or two queens (for DH and myself) and the second a queen and the bunks...am I hoping for a miracle????????

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

I hope you guys will forgive me! i've spent the last hour and a half reading through this thread (I'm slow!) but I'm about to fall asleep on my keyboad and I'd really like to make my ressies this weekend! And hey, this will bump the thread up anyway. :) This years' Tax return was good enough that we'll be able to split our stay between a moderate and the AKL! I was sad that it might just be a moderate, though I like them STILLLLLL....... :) I think I'm going to go for the savannah view so as not to risk HOPING for an upgrade once we get have since the view is important to me. I know the various savannahs have different animals on each one except giraffes are on all 3. I'm leaning toward the one with the zebras but are others better? I suppose it depends on what I like. Well, I'll have a 6 year old with me so I want it to be fun and interesting for him. Do kids that young think they are all great? And also I want to make sure we are not put on a "ground floor" room. How many levels are there? What floors are really the best to request if you don't want to be on the ground BUT you don't want to be too high. I REALLY apologize for asking what I'm SURE is a repative question. I promise I'll get through the thread before we go in Dec! :rotfl:

PPony,
I personally like 4th floor Zebra trail and any view from that end has never been a let down. We have never stayed on 3rd floor but that is considered the main entrance floor and always when we go up and down that hall to the bus it seems busy hence why we perfer 4th floor. Some will tell you they don't perfer 5th but we were on that floor once and really saw lots of animals and didn't feel like we were to high to see the action. Lots of people perfer the 2nd floor since they feel closer to the animals so I guess it is up to the individual which they perfer.
Zebra trail is the easiest hall for getting two and from the pool and restruant areas that is why we always just request Zebra trainl savannaha view and leave the rest up to the CM's and have never been disappointed.

Can some one tell me how the AKL Conceriege compares to WL Concerierge? Which one is better? Does anyone have a detailed list of the food offerings at each resort?

Thks!!!!

Hi PPony. We had a 3rd floor room overlooking the Uzima savannah. Here is our view:

We loved AKL and found the 3rd floor to be very convenient. No elevators were necessary to get to the bus stop. Plus, we were only one floor away from Mara, the pool and laundry room! We love AKL! :thumbsup2

Here is the link to the on-line version of the WDW Vacation Planning Video: click here. Once you’re on that webpage, click on the RESORTS button. The webpage will rearrange itself and some new buttons regarding the Resorts will appear. Put your mouse over the Disney Deluxe Resorts Overview and select “Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.” A video window will open and the Animal Kingdom Lodge video will begin to play.

It’s a nice way to experience a little bit of Disney magic without leaving the comfort of your home. ;)

I have been trying to read through the thread so that I do not ask a question that has already been answered but my two year old keeps pushing buttons so please forgive me if this has already been posted. :confused3

Based on the fact that everyone seems to have good experiences with the bus system I do not think that I am going to rent a car. But I am wondering if we might need to take a taxi the night of our Hoop-De-Doo Dinner and the morning of our Chef Mickey breakfast.

Has anyone had experience getting to these two locations from AKL? We have never stayed here but are so excited. :cheer2:

Those are easy (relatively) to get to from AKL. A cab would be one step simpler, but it's up to you if you think it's worth the money or not. We used the buses. To the CR just bus to MK and either walk over (my choice) or take the resort monorail. To the HDDR just bus to the MK again and take the boat that goes to FW/WL. From the FW dock it's a very nice, short walk to Pioneer Hall. :thumbsup2

We just booked a pool view room at AKL. I've requested a smoking room. Where are the pool view/smoking rooms located? Thanks! :)

Edited to add: I just read a few more pages of this thread and see where (back in 2001) guests were told they can not smoke ON the balcony of a smoking room, and that they have to stay inside the room to smoke. Is this still true?

*bumping up* anyone know the answer to my question, above?? :confused3

Also, do you have to request turndown service for a regular poolview room? I'm assuming turndown service is not automatic in the non-concierge rooms (I think I read that here a while ago).... :confused3

You will be able to smoke on your balcony pool view smoking room. Sorry, I don't know where the smoking/pool view area is!
