Someone posted on another thread that AKL no longer offers bunk beds in standard rooms. Can anyone else verify this? :confused3 :confused3[/QUOTE

Hope you found you answer by now. The AKL still has bunk beds, unless something has changed in the last week. We are going to be there the end of this month. Can't wait! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :Pinkbounc

You have to picture AKL as a home with a walk out basement. The lobby is on third floor...that is ground level at the FRONT of the resort. Any rooms on the second or first floors are pool view or savannah view and you take an elevator DOWN to get to them from the lobby. If you look at the map you can see what looks like a narrow strip of grass between sidewalk to busses and building. That strip does not exist. The walkway butts up to the building and you can stick your arms over the wall into balconies.

It is very confusing to explain. If you look at the map think of the ground at the front of the resort as being higher than the ground where the savannahs are at the back and sides of resort.

Can an infant go on the Sunrise Safari? I was thinking that if he was in a sling it should be ok? Is there an age restriction?

....miss much around here?????[*sigh*...feels good to be HOME....]

Does anyone have an e-mail address for management at AKL? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

We just booked AKL Conceirge for Mid December.

We are doing the Sunrise Safari and are starting to book our meals. What do you think?

Wednesday - Bistro France (Upstairs) Is it a different dress code?
Thursday - Sunrise Safari - Dinner at Jiko
Friday - 1900 Park Fare Breakfast (Dinner: Any suggestions??)
Saturday - 50's Prime Time for lunch - head home late on Saturday.

Well since I love to plan, where will you be on Friday. I love Cape May Cafe and strolling out around the area after dark. (Well ok gotta work off all the I usually eat!). Boma is also an excellent place to eat.

I've seen several pictures of the pool where the water looks like a yucky green color. What does it look like IRL? Is it really an unappealing color?

it's just the way the pools designed that it appears natural - like a lagoon. but when you're in it, it's crystal clear!

The water is just as clear as that in any other pool. It's the sides and bottom of the pool that are colored. As eddieras said, it's designed to look natural, like a watering hole or lagoon. We found it very appealing. It does seem unusual when you're used to seeing blue pools though, lol. :sunny:

My kids thought the pool was fantastic. It's a very large one and the surroundings were great. You'll enjoy it.

I know they are close, but how long does it take by bus from AKL to AK, or is it faster by car? Thanks for your help.

We drove one day and bussed one day and didn't see a huge difference either way. It's only a five minute drive/ride. If you drive, you'll need to walk to your car in the AKL parking lot (we didn't care for the parking, not very convenient) and then to and from your car in the AK parking lot. If you bus you'll need to wait for the bus each way. IMO it's a wash, so we'll bus next time because we'd rather step onto an air-conditioned bus for the five minute ride, it's not far enough for the car to cool down, LOL.

Gosh it seemed very fast to AK from the lodge. We found the transportation last year very good. Don't think we waited any longer than 10 minutes for anything.

We too had NO problem with the AKL bus system, in July, and we had a rental car all week. We never used it once at Disney...just to and from NY. My husband liked the bus service so much that we are booked again for next July. He didn't want to chance the busses from any other resort. :flower:

Thanks for the replies. We will have a rental car, but it sounds like it may not get as much use as in the past! YEAH! :cool1:

I read the whole thing!!! :rotfl2:

It took me a few days but I just now finished making my way through this thread from beginning to end. What a terrific read. Thank you to all of you have contributed and kept it going. I learned oogles.

We'll be staying at AKL next August for our 20th anniversary, and while I initially planned a split standard/concierge stay, I just bumped the whole trip to concierge. Yeah!

We, almost literally, can't wait!
