When I booked our regular club level room it said it's a savanna view. Is that not the case with club level?

ETA: Never mind. I see the suites are a little different.

Jambo, y'all! We have booked a standard view club level one-bedroom suite for our stay September 17-24. I'm super excited as this is our first stay at AKL and our first club level stay! Can anyone tell me where our room will likely be located? The Disney IPO folks either can't or won't answer my questions about the locations of the one-bedroom suites and what our view will likely be. If it's going to be parking lot, we might switch to two savannah view standard rooms instead. Thanks in advance!

We are going in September, with four adults, and I spent a lot of time agonizing over what arrangement to choose. First I booked the one-bedroom standard view suite that you are talking about. (Savannah views one-bedroom suites are sold out.) I subscribe to Touring Plans, so I was able to see locations of these suites. Not sure how to describe, but they just were kind of remote and not appealing to me. One was on the ground floor, with people walking around outside, so no privacy for the balcony. Then in my fishing around, I finally came up with a review posted on Trip Advisor by a couple who booked the suite because they just needed more room to move. They were disappointed overall with their experience, regretted their choice of accommodation. That decided me to switch, like you said, to the savannah view rooms instead, which everybody seem to love.

Anyhow, not sure how much this helps, but just wanted to share my own research. Have a great time, whatever you decide!

So I ponied up the $13 and subscribed to Touring Plans. They only list 4 club level one-bedroom suites, one on the first floor like you said, we don't want that one. The rest are savannah view. I think they must be offering club level access to more rooms, like the suites facing the pool, which are listed on Touring Plans as standard view one bedroom, but not as club level rooms. I think those are the ones we have to choose from, but I'm going to call again today after waiting on hold with the IPO for over 20 minutes and giving up yesterday. I need to speak to the rest of my family, but we don't want a crappy room location in exchange for a little free food. I'd rather buy my own breakfast and have a better room, I think. This is hard.

All the standard rooms are on floors 1-4, correct?

Standard rooms are on floors 2, 3, and 4. The lobby is on floor 3. There are no guest rooms on floor 1; that would be the restaurants, pool, health club and Simba's Cubhouse. Floor 5 is DVC villas and floor 6 is the Club lounge plus a small number of DVC Club Level villas.

:goodvibes

Oh, ok. I was going by Touring Plans room view and they had I think a whopping number of four rooms on the first floor.
Not sure now if they are correct anyway, they have some rooms that are labeled as standard and I would think they would be pool or savanna view.

Hello all...just found this thread. We will be doing our 1st stay at ALK from Aug 2 > Aug 6 then moving over to BLT. Staying in a studio at Jambo, Savannah view. DVC members.

so excited for this as we only normally stay at BLT, but now the kids are older and we can explore easier.

Have dinner set for Sanaa one night. And planned a full day to stay at the resort to explore. Need to find me some Giraffes as they are my daughter's favorite animal.

Are there any DVC studios that overlook giraffe savannas? I would love to request those.

Again with the Touring Plans room view, I noticed that some of the pool view rooms hardly have any view of the pool. But the views could be mis-labeled. I know if I were to pay for such an upgrade and didn't get a decent view of the pool, I would be very dissapointed. Don't know if I would chance that.

You know what...... they're right! There are some rooms on floor 1! Giraffe Trail has them in their 2nd pod (there are only 2 pods on that trail!). Those room numbers range from 1018 to 1030); and there's a pod off Zebra Trail that has first floor (numbers range from 1456-1486).

When staying non-DVC, I usually request a room on level 3, near lobby. There are some great pool view rooms there! We have had great views on Giraffe Trail (although we were on floors 3 and 5) and Zebra Trail (room 3422, which is on the lobby level).

Sorry, I hope I didn't confuse you more than help you! :flower3:

Are you staying in Jambo or Kidani?
All 3 savannas visible from Jambo have giraffes. The DVC savanna view villas in Jambo are located on the 5th floor on one of 2 hallways called Zebra or Kudu trail. Arusha savanna is visible from Zebra and Kudu trails, Uzima savanna is visible from Zebra trail and Sunset savanna is visible from Kudu trail.
There are 2 savannas visible from Kidani which is all DVC villas. Sunset savanna has giraffes. Pembe savanna does not. So if you are in Kidani you do not want Pembe savanna view if you want to see giraffes.

Staying in Jambo....we wanted the whole AKL lobby experience for our 1st visit.
So (if I read that correctly) most of the Jambo DVCs has giraffe views?

Sorry I didn't read your original post closely enough where you said you were in Jambo - my only excuse is I'm on pain meds after minor surgery :)
Yes all 3 savannas visible from the savanna view villas in Jambo have giraffes. Years ago that was not the case, and they do move animals around, but they've had giraffes on Sunset, Arusha and Uzima savannas for quite awhile now.

We had the same problem. No one at Disney could tell us the location of a one bedroom suite. We had booked a one bedroom savanna view. I called every number I could and emailed etc. I just got a response of the suites are located throughout the resort. I was worried about the location and view so we opted for two club level savanna rooms.

Don't be sorry at all!!!! I actually like saying it....Jambo....Jaaaa-mbo....J'mbo...J-j-j-j-j--ambo,...JAMBOOOOOOOOOOO :)

thanks for the info. It will make my daughter's trip.

Feel better!!

I've never felt so stupid, before trying to plan this vacation. I must be easily confused.

We have a split stay - AKL, standard room, PO FQ Garden View and Boardwalk Inn, Standard view. So I'm looking at touring plans to see the different room views and for instance room 5324 says it's a standard room, yet I see a giraffe in the picture. Am I doing this wrong? Is it that touring plans does not show the regular lodge standard rooms?

If anyone wants to make a suggestion on what I should ask for....I'm traveling with my two teens and my 4 year old. I don't want a quiet area and have to worry about the 4 year old making too much noise and disturbing others looking for quiet.

We were just there last week, 4th floor. We were club level, got a surprise upgrade. The club was being refurbished so they had 2 rooms at the end of the hall acting as the club and concierge. So I guess some of the rooms on the 4th floor are also considered club level. Maybe because the 6th floor was under construction. I wish we could have seen the club itself, the rooms were less than exciting....lol But it was still nice to have access to the free food and drinks throughout the day.

DVC has caused so much confusion on this thread!!! Almost exclusively, resort non-DVC Club Level rooms are located on the 4th floor! The 6th floor is only DVC villas and they are rarely ever available to book through Disney since there are so few and the DVC owners snap them up at 11 months out!

And congrats on the upgrade! :thumbsup2

I hope I haven't further confused you! ;)

I know some standard rooms still have a savannah view, just not a great one. We stayed close to the pool (had a pool view room) and it was quick and easy to the lobby and food. I can tell you also, I didn't hear any kids when I was in my room. In the halls, yes. But not while I was in my room. I wouldn't worry about your 4 year old.
