Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

5 more days until we go! Wahoo! Seems like alot of people will be there around the same time.

Hi everyone! I'm new here. We were suppossed to be in WDW NOW but our flight got cancelled due to Fay and we decided that we didn't want to chance bringing a one year old to Disney in the storm. So, with that being said we will be staying in All Star Sports at the end of Sept beginning of Oct. Can anyone help me figure out a creative way to section off some space for my DS crib. I'm afraid he won't sleep if he can see us. Thanks!

we have been on the road for an hour or so now and about 12 to go! hoping the bad weather down south will die down enough to let us get through to wdw tonight. we have faith. worst case we might have to spend the night somewhere between GA and FL. if you pray, pls pray fir us to make it safely! we are soooooo excited. at this point the kids only have only asked ''are we there yet?'' only once and then they fell asleep. we have anough snacks to feed a small army too ;) anyway I will give you an update later.

Prayers coming your way for a safe trip to WDW and lots of fun while there! Wow, are you doing a live report while you're there? I can't wait to read about ASSp "live"!!!!! :cool1:

mal325 we will all be waiting to hear about your trip. Hopefully you can post a review of your stay at All Star Sports.

Have fun. :woohoo:

Live from All Star Sports!!

We just checked in this afternoon, got a room in building 9. The CMs were so welcoming when we got here - they said "we've been waiting all day for you." It was funny. I was a little worried about coming here - we are not a sports-oriented family - but it is really just almost the same as ASMo and ASMU. Just the theming is different.

Our room was not ready, so we ate lunch in the food court. My DD and DH got the chicken and penne pasta with alfredo sauce. It was very yummy!

The room was ready at about 4 p.m. and it is very nice. It is refurbished - I guess they all are now. The room was very clean and we got just what we asked for, first floor and close to the parking lot, as we do not use the buses.

I was a little disappointed that the grounds are not as nice as ASMu. The pools seemed to have no shady areas at all.

I think someone asked this question earlier - the beds are able to be pushed apart, enough to allow a twin-sized air mattress to be placed there.

Any questions? I will be happy to answer them. :goodvibes

Hope your having a wonderful trip so far! Does Mousekeeping leave shampoo/soap/etc like they do in the moderate resorts? Just curious! Thanks a bunch!!

Only one day until I go to see the mouse. I only have 2 final questions, until I come back on to give a post-trip report!

1. Is there an arcade & where is located at?
2. If someone is having a birthday during the vacation is there anyway the resort might do something special for them in any way? I read in another thread that some place no longer does anything for adults birthdays, but what about kids turning 12 or 13? I would assume saying something at check-in would be the way to go?

Ill be checking in the rest of the day in between some last minute packing!

There is an arcade and it is located across the hall from the food court.

When I stayed at other resorts I have had a Birthday Cake delivered to the room. I called the resort and they where able to transfer me to the person that would take care of the cake.

I would call ahead and see if they can help you out.

Thanks. It is great so far. The beds were VERY comfortable - clearly new mattresses.

Yes, they leave two soaps (small and larger), and a small bottle of shampoo/conditioner combo each day. You can also get more if you ask. They don't leave a separate conditioner or any lotion. I'm not sure if they do more at a moderate resort.

After our first night, I have to say that it appears that the walls are pretty thin. I think the people next door had their crib next to the adjoining door and we heard the baby scream quite clearly. Luckily, it did not last for long.

We are also hearing lots of toilet flushing and toilet lid closing noises. But it's really not enough to keep us awake or wake us up. Since Sports was the first AS built, I wonder if the later ones had better insulation.

We are also enjoying free dining. We had dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe last night. The shrimp penne pasta with prosciutto (sp?) and asparagus was awesome, as was the ribeye steak with mashed red bliss potatoes and green beans. I'm not sure I'd want to pay OOP there, but it's a good choice on the dining plan. The crusty rolls and the service were also wonderful.

We stayed at ASMusic in December. When we checked in, I mentioned that we were celebrating my DD's birthday. Later in our stay, they placed a couple of balloons and a birthday card from Cinderella in our room. It was a nice surprise.

Okay thank you very much MickMan & kath1210. One last question that I came up with while I was doing some packing. Is there any type of bar at All Star Sports? I think I maybe heard of a Spirits Bar of some kind, but can't remember if it was at All Star Sports or elsewhere.

Okay, I'm pretty sure that's my last question before we leave. Thanks so much for all your help with answering questions.

There is an outdoor 'pool bar' at All Star Sports, we loved it! They do some wicked cocktails there!! It's down near the main pool, great location from the food court and most of the buildings.

Enjoy your trip!! :)

Do you have to bring your own beach towel to the poor or are there pool towels ? Thanks.;)

I'm sure nobody will hold anything against you if you bring your own beach towels to the poor!!:)

On the other hand, IIRC you must bring your own (room) towels to the pool area, (and I think you can ask Room Service for additional towels.)

Regards,

Luis
