Disney's ALL-STAR MUSIC RESORT Family Suites Information & Questions

Thanks for your quick response! Its so funny-- I was just getting ready to look at allears.net to see their pics. It does look like the landscaping is nice and full. And who am I kidding, anyway? We're from St. Louis, and when we go in Dec we'll be leaving bare trees anyway.

Any info on Dec would be excellent!

just returned from the suites and couldn't be happier . i was concerned with the fact they were at the all stars but I can't tell you all how wonderful this trip was. my kids enjoyed the hotel at 15,12 and 5 that is amazing . We lovede the room it was more then enough room and We had a queen sized bed!!! here is my Trip report.

We LOVED it ....

I was kind of concerned with the fact it was an all star resort but this is the best time I have had at Disney in a long time. I have to be convinced not to go back at this point . We got to the hotel early and our room was ready so as we were on line the magic already started a manager ( I believe he was at least ) from the hotel was greeting us and spoke to my DS and asked him who he was there to see etc and then left to come back and give him a stuffed Mickey . Brand new about a $13 toy and told us to enjoy our trip. Off to the room building 1 cylpso (sp) we were toward the back which was nice , no pool noise. Our room was better then expected with a mickey made from towles on our bed , we unpacked and went to the pool and AS Movies for photos with the huge buzz and woody . Each day we had no problems getting any buses to go to the parks the only problems were in the evening it was kind of crowded leaving the parks but no longer then 15 min. Though we usually had to wait at least till a 2nd bus came to get one. One day after we came back from the parks we had a pool made for our sponge bob blanket . It was very cute made us happy . We did stay at the resort more and my kids never missed the slide at the pool . Tehy had lots of activities for the kids jump rope , dance contest , bingo and even Disney trivia. Every night they had a movie to show at 9 on a screen by the pool we saw Nemo and Cars. They also showed jump in , monster inc and a few others. This was great for the kids .

We had a great time in each park we didn't win anything but we saw people walking around with dream fast passes and in MK one night we saw a group of people get to stand on the top of astro orbiter to watch the wishes fireworks . It is truley amazing to see them from there . We had a few moments there were magical for us one was in AK a CM gave us fast passses for the safari ride and told us to just go and enjoy the ride . Then in MK our son made two mr.potato heads in the tent in Mickeys toon town and they choose his to go on the ledge at the top and gave him a paper saying his was choosen . It was very cute. He was very happy at 5 to get it .

We never stayed in the resort as much as we did this time and we really enjoyed the action of this resort . I was really concerned we wouldn't like it but I think these suites are a great deal and well worth it . just to have 2 bathrooms in the morning and a queen sized bed was worth the price alone. We have a king at home and were fine in the bed in the suite. We were miserable in the POR on a dubble bed. I was also happy with the kittchenette . it was great for water and we had milk for cereal in the morning . We plan to return in 2 years and are looking forward to the ASMU again or anyother resort they may add the suites to . ..maybe POP or movies Now that would be nice.

BTW thanks to everyone who gave us advice on where to see Buzz and Woody as well as the cars. We got to see them all and had a great time . If you haven't been to MGM and seen the cars I suggest you get there early and see them my son was amazed by lighting mcqueen "driving" down the street . It was great.

Absolutely loved it! AGAIN!
It is our third time in a Famly Suite and we have loved it every time!
The All Star Music Resort Family Suites are beautiful.
We were in building 10 and it is very close to the pool and cafeteria.
i am thrilled that we were very close to all of the action, but the family suite we had was on the "quiet" side away from the pool.
We drive from Atlanta and we were also close to the parking lots.
We will not be going back ever again in August though, as the heat was just too intense at times.
The crowds were much larger this year than last year for the same week.

I just booked ASMuFS for December of 2008, this will be our family Christmas Trip, the first time we are all going with my parent's newly adopted (crossing fingers it will happen by June of next year) daughter, my new sister! She's my stepfather's daughter from a previous relationship and now my parents will be gaining full custody, and my mom will be adopting her, so why not celebrate it with a fabulous Disney Christmas!!!??

It will be 4 adults, me, Dbf (well Dfiance really), Dmom, Ddad and Dsis (5). So I figured the suites will be the best bet for us budget wise. I could only book the room because packages were not available for that far in advance. So in a few weeks I will book the package too!

I'm so excited!!

We just added an extra Saturday night to our upcoming F&W trip at All Star Music. We've never stayed here before and was wondering if anyone could recommend the best location to request?

We won't be travelling with any kids this time so, for just the one night, being near the pool isn't really necessary.

We would like something that is quieter if possible.

A friend and I just booked our ASMu family Suite for Aug5-11th 2008 (down payment paid too). We are excited and can not wait. It will be our first LOOOONG awaited visit to WDW. I will probably be more excited than our kids and will cry like a baby as soon as the bus gets there (heck probably when the pilot announces we are about to land in Orlando).

Are there any draw backs to staying at a value resort? Any querks we may need to know about?

We booked as a Grand Gathering Group with our friends. Are there any querks for that which we may need to know?

Anything anyone can advise on would be great. Possibly any things I may not know or have thought of. Details? Anyone??? I have done lots of reading up on WDW for the past 5 years but I am sure there are things which a veteran Disney visiter can elaborate on for us.

We(me, hubbby, 2 daughters ages 5 and 8) actually have a family suite booked at the Music Resort for 11/26 to 12/2. This thread makes it seem that our decision is a good one. But my hubby worries (has read) that the transportation in and out to the parks is awful as is the food court at the Music Resort. Can I hear your opinions on this? THANKS SO MUCH!

I love the family suites. We are about to go back for our second trip staying in them. We had no problem at all with the transportation.

We just returned in early August from the Family Suites. We loved them . We are a family of 5 and liked the POR but weren't thrilled there . We wanted a bigger room and we were looking into other hotels but never even considered the All Star Suites . I was so glad to even hear of them and even happier that we booked it. There were plenty of kids around for our kids in the pool. There were activities at the pool daily and movies at night . The bus situation was not a problem the only place it was crowded was at Magic Kingdom but that was all Buses there not just ours. We did eat at the cafateria style food court and the two meals we had there were fine. We enjoyed it and couldn't complain. I spent days at the computer looking into it and really was concerned with the all star factor . I didn't have an issues with noise but our room didn't face the pool. Also the only issue we had was one night at the pool when a large family reunion checked in with lots of teens all in the pool horsing around but the lifeguard came right over and had a talk with them. IF that is my only issue on vacation I am very happy . When we return to WDW we will be looking for a family suite again.

After reading thru it tho I have but a few questions...

Where are the phone located? Is it all one phone line? I ask because if i need a wake up call do I have to wake the other 4 adults with me?

Are there more than the 2 layouts for the rooms? I saw one where the 2nd bathroom was attached to the master bedroom and one where the 2nd bathroom was across the way from the master bedroom...can anyone tell me which they felt was better and why?!

We are 5 adults and DH & I are sharing the bedroom and I was really hoping to not have to walk near the others to go to the bathroom but I'd also like to have the more comfortable of the layouts, does that make sense?

I'll be very honest with you... I think that for 5 adults I would go with two separate rooms rather than the suite. You and your husband WILL have to walk through the "public" area to get to the bathroom... there is no connecting bathroom to the main bedroom, which I thought was very poor planning. There is not even a curtain dividing the "master bedroom" area from the livingroom area, where the other 3 adults will be sleeping. Everything is very "open". The only privacy really is inside the bedroom with the door closed, and as I said, to get from there to the bathroom you have to go out and cross the kitchen area... through the opening to the other room. The layout is much more conducive to a couple with small children than to more than one couple or a group of adults. Of course this is only my opinion, and maybe having the little kitchen area will be enough of a draw for you all to want to share one suite, but as I said, if it were me going with my husband and 3 additional adults... I'd go for two rooms.
If you have any other questions I'd be glad to answer from my perspective. I LOVED the suite - for a couple with one teenager it was ideal. If we'd had up to 3 kids with us it still would have been ideal...

I stayed in the all star family suites last October.
The way our suite was laid out, you had to walk through the other bedroom to get to the door and kitchen area, but the bathroom was completely in the bedroom. My suite had a different layout then the floor plan on the first page of this thread.
I'm pretty sure there was only one phone line, but the living room and bedroom each had a phone.

Well it's pretty much we stay in the suite or 2 of the 5 can't make it, so i have given up worrying if we will fit well or not! I have a medical problem with my back so that gets us the bedroom so thats pretty much settled. We are going with another couple and one single friend. We told him to pack an air mattress and we can switch off sharing the room with the extra person. Space isn't too much of an issue because we pretty much will be in the room only to sleep and the 2 bathrooms will make it a lot easier tog et ready. I may just buy a cheap shower curtain to tape to the ceiling to separate the bathroom, my own privacy curtain if you will. Anyways thanks so much for the help, I'm def going to keep updated on this thread for any more awesome info!

This will be our first time staying on site, there will be 3 adults, a teenager and a 12 year old. Going crazy reading all these threads, do you think we'd fit fine in the suites? It's a slightly bit cheaper than 2 rooms at the Pop. Would love to stay in a moderate, but don't think we will be able to financially.

Well, yes, three adults and two kids will "fit" into a suite - no problem. But whether it will be comfortable depends on the relationship of the adults. If it is a couple, the teen and preteen, and the odd adult is a grandparent, presumably the grandparent will bunk in the livingroom with the kids? That could work very well. If it's a "friend" not related to the family.. then that odd adult is going to feel a lack of privacy... see what I mean? It really depends on who all the three adults are and who the kids belong to.. but yes, in theory, 5 fit nicely into the suite. It will certainly be more comfortable than one room at a moderate (or one room anywhere, really, since 3 adults and 2 kids sure will do better with two bathrooms, IMHO! Also, the suite has the kitchen, which really is nice to have if you are there more than a couple of days.)

KatGarcia, I would not assume that the bed in the bedroom will be better for your back than the fold-outs in the livingroom. Those couch beds were VERY comfortable and firm - better than the bed in my opinion! Also, I'm not sure there is room for an extra adult in the bedroom - that room is sort of cramped as it is with the bed and other furniture.
Just realized my last few posts have sounded sort of negative and I don't mean them that way - I really DID LOVE THE SUITE!!! I'm just trying to be realistic about what configuration of folks they are appropriate for!

Is there a "preferred" section or bldg I should ask for? How many floors are there, and are there elevators? Are there any "views" -- like fireworks or anything like that -- from certain rooms?

We stayed in Calypso Bldg 10. I believe all the suites are considered "preferred". I think there were three floors. Yes there are elevators. We stayed on the second floor facing the pool, and it was very quiet. You won't see any fireworks from your room, but the landscape is very pretty. IMO

The kichette area is the area between the master bedroom area and the bathroom. I do not thknow how wide that opening is. I would sugesst using a tension rod or those removerable sticky hooks that do hurt the walls rather than masking tape if want to use a shower cutain.
