Disney's ALL-STAR MUSIC RESORT Family Suites Information & Questions

Just back yesterday from a week in an ASMu Family Suite. We LOVED it! I would do it again in a second. I'd love to stay deluxe sometime, but right now with two small kids, this was great. The entire resort was spotless and mousekeeping was terrific! I'd be happy to try to answer any questions that anyone might have!

We are taking my DNie, DNeph and DSis with us next July (09) and we are thinking about booking an ASMUFS. How was the food court? Did you find the rooms noisy. We stayed one night at Pop and we could hear our neighbors conversations and when they used the bathroom. We could not wait to move to the GF. But, we want to stay a week and enjoy our family and Disney! Any advice would be great! Glad you enjoyed your stay!:thumbsup2

MadiMouse, I can't answer your question about the food court since we won't be there until October, but I read part of your food thread (I could only read part of it as I was getting too hungry) and loved all the sweets. I too have a HUGE sweet tooth and had to stop reading it as I was getting too hungry (and am doing Weight Watchers).

Where did you order the birthday cakes from? My daughter is turning 13 while we're down there and I'd like to get her a cake. I found one I could get from gardengrocer.com but I want a REAL birthday cake like you got for your husband and daughter!

We stayed last summer at an ASMUFS and when booking this year we told the if we couldn't get the family suite we weren't coming ... We LOVED  the suite . We had a room that didn't face the pool so I don't know about that noise there but I don't remember any noise problems with neighbors.

The fact that it has a small kitchenette is great for breakfast in the morning . We brought some stuff with us as we drove down . The Food court was pretty good . Some of it is just plain old park food. Some of it is pretty good food . We had pizza , chicken fingers , I remember a good pasta meal one time and the ice cream place was good too .:thumbsup2.If you have lots of people in your party for the price the room can't be beat. Also this summer I got it for the AAA rate So look for the deals they may be out there .:yay:

Hi Lisa,
I swear I have to lose weight before our trip in Sept to DLR b/c I am going to eat!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL. So, I will do another food report.

I ordered both cakes from the Grand Floridian bakery. My DH's cake tasted better than DD's cake. There is a cake thread under the Food Board. Okay, 13 is a big deal, so Mommy please order a nice cake for the little missus! :goodvibes

Feel free to PM with any other questions you would like to ask!!

Actually we plan to be there the week after the 4th of July. :scared1:
My DNiece will be 6 and DNeph will be 4 and our DD will be 2 so I know we will need space and an area to give them breakfast. We plan to do the DDP, too. I just love some Disney food.

Thanks!!

HELP ... leaving in about two weeks and we are booked for an ASMUFS we were there last year and now I can't remember if there was a toaster in the room?? My kids LOVE to make frozen waffles so I may just bring my own toaster if needed but It would be easier if there was one there already .

So does anyone know if there is one in the kitchen already or should I pack my own . THANKS :goodvibes

No toaster as of May 24, 2008.

I have heard of people using the hotel iron to make waffles, grilled cheese, etc, under foil - no joking!

I think there is a toaster in the food court.

HTH,
Diana

we are driving down so bringing the toaster is not a big deal it would just be easier if it were already there . I didn't think there was one there anyway . Thanks for the info though.

I would NOT use an iorn to make anything ... I just don't understand :confused3 that one ...

My brother is a single Dad and has done plenty of weird things with his kids. Yes, he has actually cooked a grilled cheese sandwich with the iron. He told me to make sure that it is not set on steam unless you have filled it with melted butter.

I'm bringing an electric skillet and a portable electric burner w/pots to cook on. We're thinking about a toaster or toaster oven, too. We're going to do at least 6 dinners in the room, mostly because we just don't like to eat out that much, and we think the kids will need down time. Dinner will be just right to chill in the room, then go back out to the pool area for the nightly activities and movies. Other than the character breakfasts, we're having breakfast in the room, too.

We decided to go to the suites instead of the FW cabins because of the resort feel and activities, but we hated to give up the full kitchen. We figure we'll just fill in the blanks and make our own kitchen!

We feel better controlling the meals, at least part of the time. Try to keep them a little healthy, and concentrate on the magic of WDW, not the food.

We only do Breakfast in the room as my kids are not big on that meal. The teenagers wouldn't even eat it if I didn't make them . My Son on the other hand is a BIG breakfast kid so I am thinking of all the stuff to bring for him. HE is one of those it is 7 am we need breakfast , it is 12 we need lunch and it is 6 we need dinner kids . Everything has to be on time when it comes to food for him.

Thanks for the ideas and help guys . I can't wait to go :goodvibes .

Are they still doing movies each night at All star music by the large pool.

Subbing! Just booked our June 28-July 5 room-only at ASMuFS - waiting for '09 packages! This thread convinced me that the FS is the best option for us; THANKS!!! :thumbsup2

I just called to request our building location for our trip Nov 30-Dec 6. The CM told me that the only two buildings that had family suites in them were Calypso 10 and Jazz 2. :confused3

Ok, so I figured this was a good place to share my plan to get the best possible deal on the ASMu FS!

Cast of 6, 3 adults, 3 kids from 4-8
Target Date September 19-27, 2009 (flexible as long as we can limit the number of vacation days to 6)... 9 nights in the Suite.
Assumptions:
Rack rate for Suite: $184 per night, value season
Dining Plan Costs: $33.99 adult, $10.99 child

Now that the 2009 rates are out, I am planning to:

Book my package for the dates with DDP through CAA and expect to get a 15% room discount...a savings of almost $300.

Wait for the (hoped for) 40% off codes in January-ish and have them applied in place of the CAA discount....a savings of about $750

Hope for Free Dining for that period, be on time to book that for the Suites...for a savings of a little over $1,200 for the clan of 6

Does this sound good? Any flaws in my logic. After all, I have only been searching the boards for a day, destracted by work occassionally!

Thanks all!
