Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Oh well, thanks for the info, I'll just wait and see as the only other section i would request is Fantasia lol

FWIW (not sure if you're just kidding around) you can't request Fantasia section (even if you booked preferred). (Its a sore point with me because DS is a HUGE Sorcerer Mickey fan - dresses as him for Halloween; we stay at ASMo even over deluxe hotels - and guess how many times in about 5 stays there we've gotten Fantasia section? Never. I wish they'd make a Preferred Pool View a bookable category - I'd pay the upgrade for sure. (Pop has that category - pool view, for a quiet pool view, but preferred pool view = view of the main feature pool).)

That is a bummer! I want one of those two because it's my DS first visit and as he's only 2 1/2 those are the only two he really knows, oh well, I'll wait and hope for some pixie dust

I didn't mind the busses, but as a professional public transit user, it was loads faster and less crowded than my daily commute!
I agree-I think Disney does a good job with the buses considering how many Guests they move each day.

It is great that the All-Stars are one of the Resorts with the Bus Boards now also.:)

That is great news! It certainly makes a difference in stress levels.

I did enjoy the Bus Boards, though they aren't always accurate. We were waiting for a bus to Downtown Disney, and the sign said it would be there in five minutes. Ten minutes later, it changed to five more minutes. Kept doing this. I think we waited about 40 minutes for it! Only time I ever had an issue with a bus. Could always be worse; I'd rather wait for a bus than have to drive and find parking!

You most certainly can request it. but not guaranteed to get it ever. Requests are just that, request. However you can't make that request if you are booked standard. Only preferred can request it.

Unless it's changed recently, online check-in for ASMo has omitted Fantasia as a section request. I wonder if that is what the reference to not being able to request Fantasia is about. Otherwise right, anyone who booked preferred can call to add Fantasia as a request, rather than relying on the online check-in choices.

Oh I never looked at online check in. I do it by phone only.

When I checked in online, Toy Story section was an available option, even though I only booked a standard room. If I had known it was preferred rooms only I wouldn't have requested it. :guilty:

This one of the main reasons why I prefer to call and add room requests to our reservation. The options during online check in are predetermined, limited and most of the time not relevant to what we booked.

Did you pick the Toy Story room? Did they make you pay extra or was it a free upgrade?

I requested a Toy Story room and the system let me, we don't check in until Feb1st. I'll report back what happens but I'm not expecting to get it.

I have a few questions.
Are the pools heated?
Is the McDonald's close by more expensive than a McDonalds outside the park?
Is there a lounge/Bar?
Thanks:D

All the disney pools are heated. The McDonald's has pretty much the same pricing except I remember things like the $1 sweet tea we get here at home was full price on their menu that sort of thing but a happy meal, big mac meal or whatever seems to be your average cost of a McDonald's meal anywhere. It's not like in the parks with the 300% increase on most items. Oh and if I remember correctly they have a pool bar at their main pool but not a bar/lounge inside.

The Bars at the All-Stars are "connected" to the Food Courts, but do have views of the Pools.

Pop Century and Art of Animation have "free standing" Bars adjacent to a Pool.:)

Thanks, anyone who has stayed at the movies resort recently are the rooms still in pretty good condition?

Just back from a mom/daughter trip to ASMo for the holiday weekend. We arrived around 6pm Thursday, and the Magical Express service was very fast, even though the area at the airport was full of National Cheerleading groups. We arrived at the resort by 7:30 waited a few minutes for check in because they were having system troubles. I did not receive my direct to room text so we needed to wait. We really liked the resort! We had Preferred room in Fantasia. I requested ground floor facing a garden, and received my request. I thought it was interesting that the ASMu Calypso section/Food Court/Bus Stop seemed pretty close, and one day we walked over there and looked around. I have recently stayed at Sports also, and now I have noticed that those food courts are newly renovated and similarly set up. I wonder if Movies food court will be renovated soon? I like the current set up, it seems less difficult to get in and out of. I especially like TWO extra coffee areas, making FOUR places to get hot drinks at busy times! They had also plenty of tea bags out. I bought a refillable mug (cute new design) and really got my money's worth this time. The bus service was incredibly efficient, we never waited more than a minute or two for a bus anywhere during our trip. I love the TV monitors!
It was pretty crowded all weekend, I would say Friday was the least crowded day possibly because it rained hard all morning and we were at Epcot, which seems less crowded to me because it is so big. It is nice to see the Pixar Short films in Imagination, I hope they keep it. The Star Wars fireworks in HS were really fantastic, also at HS we noticed the new dance party building behind RNRC. The new Launch Bay (Former Animation building) is well done with all new dark grey paint and carpets and fully immersed in everything Star Wars. It was nice to see One Man's Dream showing again, our last trip they were playing previews for The Good Dinosaur. Magic Kingdom was busy but manageable throughout the weekend, with Monday being the slowest day. We ate at the new Skipper Canteen in Adventureland. They accept walk ups only. It was good, but rather expensive, possibly the reason for only 5 minute wait? At Animal Kingdom we ate lunch at the new outdoor Harambe Market, and it was delicious! This is a nice addition to the park, but it seems as if there might not be enough seating for peak times. It also took a long time to order our food.
I would definitely suggest considering this time in January to visit, it was on the busy side crowd wise, but the peak cast member staffing levels provided seamless service.:D

We stayed there in November for W&D, and while we ould probably have preferred a moderate, the rooms were clean and well taken care of. Our only complaint was the double beds. We had hoped for a king, but it was so busy there wasn't one available. We had weird hours that trip and mousekeeping still took great care of us. We were happy with our stay.
