Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Hello, I am again trying to convince myself to stay at ASMov over Pop. I have tried a couple of times, but keep changing back to Pop. :)
I will be there Oct. 21-26 and will likely attend 2 MNSSHPs. How are buses for All Stars after parties? Do they run separate buses for each? I have had horrible experiences with Pop's buses after parties. All other times were great (except also maybe DTD), but the after party experience has pushed me to rent a car for my last couple of trips including last year's MVMCP. Driving isn't an ordeal for me like it is for some, but I would really like to save the moola and I miss riding the Magical Express!

We absolutely adored all our stays at the All Stars.

The only time the All Stars share a bus is during very slow periods during the day. Like in the middle of the afternoon when there are a handful of people going to each All Star, they will send one bus to pick up everyone. Right after a party, or right after fireworks, I don't think there is a single resort that will have a short line for a bus. To remedy this we have started grabbing a bench, a snack and people watch for about 30 minutes after a party or fireworks. Then slowly make our way to the bus depots while maybe hitting some shops along Main Street. Ever since doing this, we usually walk right onto a waiting bus and actually have a seat on the way back to our resort.

Thanks, I think I will give ASMovies a try. I really would like to stay in the Dalmatians area and those Preferred rooms are only a tiny bit more than the Pop Standards like I usually stay. Thanks for the quick response, dansdad.

Hello, everyone!

After hearing about the Osborne Lights coming to an end this year, my partner, mom and I literally just booked a quick trip to see them one last time. We are staying at this hotel for the first time, I'm pretty excited. We will be there 11/15-11/18. We will be in a preferred room =)

I also was able to get two great dining reservations on such short notice. One is a late dinner at 'Ohana (9:30PM). I fear the buses won't be running when our dinner is done... Do you think this is a problem I will run into? What are our options?

With such a last-minute decision, I now have SO MUCH to try and plan for in a short time. I've already accepted all the great fast-passes will be gone by the time we purchase park tickets, haha

Hi! Planning a trip for next summer. Will be our first time at ASMo. A couple questions: 1) Toy Story is our absolute favorite and would love a room in this section (I know it's preferred.) We will swim every day and prefer the smaller pools to the main one. With that in mind, is it much of a walk from the Toy Story section to the Mighty Ducks pool? Would we be better off requesting a room in the Dalmations section? I realize we can walk over to the Toy Story section for pictures but thought it would be fun for our room to be in that area. and 2) is ASMo still often not included in discounts or at a lesser discount amount?

The 101 Dalmatians section certainly would be closer to the Duck Pond Pool, plus you'd be centrally located so you could use the Fantasia pool if you wanted. But honestly the walk from Toy Story is relatively short -- in my opinion in wouldn't be a major effort to use the Duck Pond Pool from Toy Story. I think it's fun to visit all the pools, for example, while staying at Pop Century we like to use all three pools at various points.

We are planning to go to WDW in October 2016 and are about 95% positive on our dates. The prices are cheaper than I thought they would be and I am nervous they might increase. Do you think I should just book my trip now? Or wait and see if there is a special at some point? I doubt prices will go down.....I just don't want it to book up before I get a chance to reserve. Thanks for any advice. This will be my second trip to WDW (first was in 2004) and the first time we take our kids! :)

We check-in in 19 days! We are in a preferred room. For online checkin, I requested closest to transportation, and highest floor... Which building are preferred rooms in? Sorry if this has been asked a million times...

It seems like there is "always" some kind of special offer available, whether a room discount or some kind of package deal. So to me, it's worth waiting to see what might be offered for your dates.

Preferred rooms are in three sections: Toy Story, Fantasia, and 101 Dalmatians.

movies is usually excluded from the discounts (as is : little mermaid rooms at AOA, french quarter, cabins at Ft. wilderness) that is because it books up with no problem. the discounts are to fill empty rooms.

if staying at Movies is importatn to you, go ahead and book.. but be aware that , unlike with tickets, you will be charged the 2016 room rate. if a discount comes out later, you can try to add it if movies is included. (also be aware, when people say they can "just apply" a discount to an existing reservation, that is actually a misnomer. having the room doesn't guarantee the discount for that room. so if I book a room at pop and free dining comes out, I can only apply the free dining dscount IF there are rooms available at pop for that discount. (in fact, last year so many people booked a room at POR ahead of time to ensure they would have one for free dining when free dining came out it POR was excluded becasue they didn't need to fill rooms!

oct. is usually free dining time and there is usually a room only discount also. they won't come out till much later.

at least i fyou book, you'll know you have a room for the dates you want at the resort you want. if (when) a discount comes out, and movies is excluded, then you can decide to maybe switch to get the discount (to music, sports, pop) or even a moderate if the room discount makes that affordable)

Can anyone please tell me about the outlet situation in the rooms? Family of 4 with 2 teenagers we have a lot of phones, etc that will need to be plugged in nightly. Are there available outlets near the beds? By the small table? TV/bureau? anything in the sink or bathroom area?

Thanks!

Bring a power strip!

I remember an outlet at the end of the bed closest to the bathroom, one behind the nightstand, one closer to the floor by the door. There was a power strip behind the bureau, not sure about available plugs on it. I don't remember about the sink area unfortunately.
