I'm taking a solo trip in April 2026. My 5th solo. I usually stay at Port Orleans French Quarter but wanted to try a new resort. I like the idea of walking to Disney Springs. Can someone who stays there give me the pros and cons of staying here? It only cost me 200 more for 5 nights over French Quarter

The con, for me, is it's really spread out and feels very remote, IMHO. If I were doing a solo trip, I would stick with POFQ where no room feels too far from the lobby area. I got lost when I stayed at SSR. If I were to do it again, I would splurge for a preferred section room.

We loved it there. Ended up in the Grandstand section so a brief walk to the main building, as in there is a path that is less than 5 mins to the main bldg. If I was in one of the more distant buildings I probably wouldn't want to stay alone, but that all depends on you. Rooms are beautiful IMO. Buses were easy for us.

It's GINORMOUS. If you're used to staying at POFQ, it'll seem VERY VERY BIG.

The counter service isn't as good as the POFQ counter service, but that's standard resort wide, I always find the moderates have better counter services.

If you want to walk to Disney Springs, you'll want to book preferred.

We stayed here one night pre-cruise and it worked for that, but we were neutral about returning for a longer stay. (also we got a ride from bell services to our room with all our luggage).

I was there for my first few nights (was at a conference, DW came in later) solo and it was great. Yes it's a huge resort but I kinda liked it because I got some added steps in to offset the treat at Disney Springs. Also, shockingly very quiet and buses were never overly full except returning at the end of the night. Limited QS options but with DS across the water and me liking to venture, it worked out.
