Individual sports themed restuarants and experiences didn't work out at Universal CityWalk, (Nascar closed, and NBA City is Closing), so I'm baffled why they are going to put this here.

So what are they going to give me in replacement for my Premium AP? This is part of the "value" I receive for my Premium AP. They can't keep raising the prices and continue to take things away. Like Pete said on the Podcast...it isn't about whether I use it or not it is about perceived value.
Hedberg, meet Disney, Disney, Hedberg. ;)

Oh...... no???? :duck:

Aw, jk! We would go from time to time back when we had the premium annual passes. My brother liked it a lot, but I would personally have never gone if I actually had to pay for admission at the door.

I wonder when the closing date will be. We have it in our plans for our trip in September.

You should be fine. Closing sometime in 2016.

I don't get this at all. In my sports crazy house the NBA is the one sport that gets zero attention. My husband who watches any and all things sports never turns a NBA game on. Heck, he will even watch tennis, golf and sports I have never heard of.

Oh well, one less thing to tempt us to spend money.

This is my thinking exactly. Hardly anyone watches the NBA anymore. I think Hockey gets better ratings than Basketball in the US market.

Guess this will be our last dq. We like it, it has a good mix of old and new games. Not sure we will do anything in the nba themed area. Probably check it out at least once. We are sports oriented family but can't stand the nba.

I 100% agree with you. The ability to go do an activity is a greater value to your PAP than another store. I am so disappointed by this. Ugh.

:confused3I will definitely miss the Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters. That thing was fun and I cracked up the entire time. I am most upset over losing that. I have zero interest in an NBA experience or any other professional sport experience. This is Disney, do something imaginative. SMH

It's not just a store. From the NBA site...
"It will include NBA video productions, interactive experiences for fans, plus a restaurant and retail store."

Hey hey hey!! We love the NBA, in fact basketball is the ONLY sport we watch AT ALL in this house. DH and I have zero interest whatsoever in sports and wouldn't care about basketball either, except 3 out of 4 DS's love it and DS13 plays in many leagues, just started playing for school last year and hopefully will continue next year and into high school..............
OK I'm done:) Not saying this is a wonderful idea but I wouldn't be thrilled with an NFL or baseball experience either. Nor did I like DQ (except Ms. PacMan :thumbsup2) just had to point out the NBA does have fans!

Oh this was DH favorite place at Disney! He loved to go on a quite day when it was really hot out as I was a nice way to stay cool and just relax for a bit. Not sure any of us will care about NBA experience...NHL maybe....NBA not so much!

*sigh* I know this is for a "new and improved" Disney, but some of the changes are just sad IMHO. DS and DH will be disappointed in this, we have it planned to go at least once in September, might have to see if we can squeeze in another visit sometime in that week.

I find it amusing how negative every thread is.

They are replacing an old, expensive arcade with a new concept. I have almost no interest in the NBA but I will certainly be checking it out when it opens. I have walked past the expensive arcade every year after I sampled their "games" the first time. A few will likely make their way to future world, the rest will be scrapped or put into resort arcades.

Ok everyone but...

Finally!

Arcades have died out for awhile now and now that kids have games on cell phones theirs no point at all.

I think the building was so ugly too not very Disney Springs like

I honestly don't care that much about Disney Quest closing. It's just ok.....what I think is a shame and call it negative if you want - is to have NBA be the replacement. That just seems like poor research imo but what do I know I don't work at Disney. I just find it hard to believe that an NBA experience is going to consistently bring in more numbers that Disney Quest does. It will be popular at first but I don't see it having the staying power. I just feel like there are better ideas out there.

Not super pleased. Yes, it needed updates, but those could have been done instead of closing it.

I'll never do the NBA thing. Couldn't care less about basketball, personally. Also a basketball thing seems a little random for DTD. Seems more WWoS.
