Hi all! It's a quiet day at work, so I'm finally getting around to writing up my Disneyland trip report. I'm going to write it in at least 2 parts, as I'd like to post a couple of photos and don't have them with me right now.

First, some background: My job was sending me to San Diego for a trade show. My boyfriend and I decided that I would stay in California after the trade show was done, and he would join me. Then, my company needed to do a little trimming of the budget, and so I found out I was no longer being sent to San Diego. Well, we had our heart set on going there, so we decided to go anyways!

In planning, our San Diego trip became more of an Anaheim trip...we got so excited about going to DLR. We both have annual passes to WDW and go there at least once a month (usually more). So, we decided on 4 days in Anaheim and 2 days in San Diego! We got a good deal on the Southern California CityPass through CostCo ($175 each!), so we had a 3 day ParkHopper at DLR (plus Universal, SeaWorld & San Diego Zoo).

This was my first visit to DLR in over 20 years. I don't remember the exact year I was there last, as I was just a little girl. My boyfriend had been there about 10 or 11 years ago.

Day 1: Tuesday - 10/24/06

We flew on Southwest from Orlando to San Diego. I have a big fear of flying, but knowing I was going to DLR made it fairly easy to get on the plane! Landed on time, got our rental car, stopped along the way for dinner, and made it to Anaheim around 6pm. We checked into our hotel, the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites on Walnut, which we got a good deal on through the Entertainment Book ($69 a night). The hotel was clean and quiet. Nothing special about it, but it suited our budget just fine.

After checking out our room, we drove over to DTD to check it out. We spent the evening looking in all the shops and checking out the plaza entrance to the parks...and getting excited about the 3 days to come.

Day 2: Wednesday - 10/25/06

We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Service was quick. The food was okay, but we decided to explore some other places for future breakfasts.

We walked to DLR, taking in all the sights. What a different atmosphere from our WDW! We exchanged our CityPasses for our DLR tickets and in we went to DL at 10am. The park was much less crowded than we ever expected and after taking in Main Street and the castle, we hit attractions and found little to no wait time for everything we did!!! We got so much done that first day:

Space Mountain
Buzz
(pick up FP for Indiana Jones)
Haunted Mansion Holiday
Splash Mountain
Pooh
Tarzan Treehouse
Indiana Jones
Jungle Cruise
Big Thunder
Lunch at the French Market (see dining reviews & pics thread)
Disney Gallery
Pirates
Tom Sawyer Island
RR to Main Street

We hopped over to CA around 3pm. We weren't planning to do it that day, but we got so much done, our curiousity got the best of us. We had 2 hours there and did:

Monsters, Inc.
TOT
CA Screamin'
Mulholland Madness
Soarin'

Then it was back to DL for dinner at Pizza Port and more fun:

Parade of Dreams
Mr. Toad's
Pinocchio
Alice
Snow White

Then, the long walk back to our hotel. My feet were screamin', but I didn't care, I was at Disneyland!!!!!!!!!

See Part 2 for the rest of our trip, plus my thoughts on DLR vs WDW, and my opinions of the restaurants and attractions.
