Walt kept an apartment in the park, above the Fire Station. If you look in the window, there is always a light left on for him.QUOTE]

The light is actually kept on b/c when Walt was alive and stayed there frequently, CM's would know if he was around by seeing if the light was on. He started leaving it on all the time so they would never know if he was ther or not.

I remember walking through the castle on Sep 12 or 13th (right after the attacks and being so scared,) so when did they close it?

Officially, October 11, 2001.

Bummer! The Disneyland is not on my travel channel today. At 9:30 PST there is a special on Great Hotels which profiles Disney's Floridian Hotel at WDW.
I was able to see it .. Ijust ove Samatha Brown, she's so entertaining! And I would love to do that job!

I also heard when he was living and he was at DL, that's when the light was on. Since his death they leave it on all time, something like his spirit lives on in DL. :goodvibes

Mr. Toad also has a railroad inside which has appeared on DL trivia tests.

Also there was a Jungle boat with names signed under the center cushion by the guys working on the record breaking days when they stuffed the most people into boats in one hour and/or for the whole day.

It used to be traditional to toss a JC guide in the water on his last day or send him on a dead head and nail him with water (and barf dust) at various points (yes the elephant can be made to squirt twice by hotwiring the pump.)

The BB court is a breakroom for the mountain climbers and not the RO's. The were many spoof employee movies made in the 80's and shown at end of summer festivities. My favorite Banana Ball movie (huge employee party in August) was Mr. Bill goes to Disneyland.

Has anyone ever seen them for sale on DVD? They trully were some great movies/music videos made in the wee morning hours. Thriller on JC. Purple Rain on BTM. MASH Episode spoofs on Columbia/Mansion. Miami Vice (renamed Disney Vice) has suits chasing cast members through the park and shooting them for wearing too dark of sunglasses... Oh the memories...

Too bad Walt died young,

Rocko of STR
When I worked at DL in the late 80's we made a movie called "Nightmare at Hungry Bear Restaurant". I still have a copy.

I heard that in WDW on the Jungle Cruise ride, there is a big fake spider in a cage and you pass by it on your way to the boat and there is a black button under the handrail and if you push it the spider moves. I wasn't able to actually try it this summer because the line moved too fast past that point.

Is that also at DL?

-The Partners Statue (Walt and Mickey holding hands) in the hub was designed after Walt's death. It symbolizes Walt pointing out the way for Mickey to continue with the company after his death.

:thumbsup2 Great thread!!!

Which was co-designed by Imagineer John Hench and sculpted by former Imagineer Blaine Gibson.
Who came out of retirement to do so.

And a wonderful job he did!! :thumbsup2

The Partners Statue, promenantly featured in Central Plaza, AKA 'the Hub'; was re-dedicated on the 100th Anniversary of Walt Disney's birth 12/05/01 and since, features a new plaque mounted several feet in front of the statue, mentioning the re-dedication of the Partners statue by Disneyland Cast Members.

- Why was disneyland built? Well, it was built after Walt Disney took his two daughter to play in anahiem is thought of the idea of a theme park.

- Disneyland is actually built on a slight slope. why? Because Walt wanted people to work their way into the park, going uphill. This also makes the illusion that all the building is taller. Walt also wanted the downhill to make it easier to go home knowing ppl would be tired.

- Matterhorn, a lot of ppl comment about this... i doubt its a break room since it is on the top 4th or 5th floor. I have yet to see it, and hopefully i can when it reopens :)

- Toontown is closed everyday at 8:30 before the park. Anyone want to guess why?

In the queuing line for Indianna Jones, deep inside, in the middle of all of the bamboo poles, there is one that looks a little crooked. Pull on it hard, and the cavern will boom like a cave in. First time someone did it, it scared me to death! :lmao:

Oh lordy... I did that when I was going through the line with my friend and I didn't know it was going to do that. I literally jumped on my friend's back, I was so scared... Meanwhile my friend is laughing her butt off at me :rotfl:
