Disneyland Hotel Points and Cash Booking?

I am planning my first trip to Disneyland later this year and have never used my DVC points outside of DisneyWorld.

I need to book four nights at one of the Disney hotels there and wondered if it would be possible to book 2 nights with points and then another 2 with a cash reservation. Would it be as simple as making a Disneyworld Reservation like this and has anybody ever done this before?

Would appreciate any advice!
