Disneyland Divas: Working out, getting healthy and thin in 2010!!

I've been reading and keeping up here but haven't posted in awhile. It seemed like I had a bad day, that turned into two, then a week:sad2:
It's so frustrating and it always seems like there's a special occasion I want to cheat on. Now my excuse is that I don't have enough time before the trip to make much progress so what's the use. I know it's a bad attitude but I have no ambition these days.

Great job to all of you who have been losing!

 Just remember that every bit you lose between now and the trip, it is that much less you will have to lose after the trip to get to your goal! You can do it. It is just one step in front of the other...one good choice at a time. You can do anything you put your mind to...but that's the trick...your mind has to be in it!

Good luck!

I hope everyone is having a healthy Tuesday.

My eating has been terrific so far and I want to go to the gym because I need to work this kink out that's in my right leg. It feels like I hurt it somehow so I think the best way to stretch it out is for me to just walk.

Good evening ladies!:cloud9:
I'm back from the gym and I burned 410 calories in 45 - 47 minutes. I think that's pretty good since I just started working out last week!

Eating is on track, I still have 10 points left for the day. I think I'm going to have some yogurt and maybe some eggs. I don't feel like cooking turkey tonight.

Hope everyone else had a successful day. If not, don't worry, tomorrow is a NEW day.

Love you all and sending you hugs

I read this and thought it would be helpful for some of you who are currently struggling!

When Life
Throws a Curveball

When you realize that what you're doing is really a lifestyle change and not a "program" or diet, it will empower you like never before. Making this transition in your thinking means there is nothing to quit. You can't quit a lifestyle like you quit a diet.

Injuries, illness, job issues, family commitments all come and go and constantly change. And a program or diet is easy to lose track of when a big life "trauma" comes along. But if you're focused simply making healthy choices most of the time none of these obstacles will hold you back. Sure, you'll have to adjust your approach and try new things. You'll experience setbacks and have to regroup. But that's life. And it's always within your grasp to live it healthfully if you choose.

As for my weigh in....I lost .2 less than I was hoping for so I am at a total lost of 79.8. I am happy I had a good loss but bummed I couldn't get to 80 gone...oh well, something to shoot for for next week.

Have a good one ladies.

Do you have a scale at home? I bet you did lose that extra .2lbs. Did you have water before weighing in?

I'm going to congratulate you anyway because 79.8 lbs is an amazing feat! WTG! You're so close to losing 100 lbs! :worship:

Ack! It's been a LONG time since I've updated, but I promise I've been good!

As of last night (I weighed myself on a non-weigh-day, I know, I know!) I am officially out of the teens :cool1: :cool1: Weighed in at 212, can't believe it and I am SO EXCITED to get under 200, I can just SEEEE it, and TASTE it... lol!

Trying to get on the elliptical for at least half an hour each day and go at least one mile; have been managing to get there about 6 times a week on average. This usually gets me approximately 330 calories burned; a couple of times I've had time to stay on longer and make it to almost 500 calories before I had to take off. It's so amazing to have gotten to a point where I feel strong, and healthy, and ENJOY going to the gym as "me time", as opposed to a chore where I "have to" go. :woohoo:

One-derland, look out, here I come!! Hopefully by my birthday on 3/25, we'll see!

Oh, and I love Luna Bars, Nutz Over Chocolate. They are SOOO yummy and it feels like I'm cheating when I'm not! And it's surprising how filling they are; they easily replace a meal for me. :yay:

I completly agree with both the above! You are so right Jen.

By the way, my last two days have sucked. My 7 year old walked up to the side of my bed and puked all over me, and two places on the carpet. Then I got in a "middle of the night, I shouldn't be awake, parenting sucks" fight with my husband over who had to clean up the most puke! Lovely I tell you.

But, I did not drown my sorrows in chocolate, so life is good.

Hello ladies! Just had time for 20 minutes in the gym as I had a hair appointment. I'm not fond of hair salons - they always seem to make me feel inept at proper styling. Anywho, my hair is colored and my wallet a bit lighter.

It's snowing again. I guess that's no news

Next week is dlp!

Keep up the healthy living my friends!!!

Jen

Hi everyone! Good that everyone is holding on. I'm going to work out today (like with weights) first time in over a week. I have been doing a lot of serious house organizing though and not even feeling it (something I couldn't say for the last few years).

Cleaned up my eating act so disappointed the scales are not showing it yet.

Jen - I know what you mean, but it's only because the salon isn't good enough. A good place will make you feel wonderful (and it doesn't have to be the most expensive place either). The average salon is like the average make up counter - they somehow think if they put you down, you'll return to them! Thank goodness we now live in an age where you can buy at Sephora or online. Haven't been to a makeup counter in ages.

Yeah, I refused to go to a make up counter. My grandma wanted to take me to get my make up done a few years ago and I said "heck no!". I don't normally wear make up and if I do it's very simple (eyeliner, mascara, and eye shadow). I would like to find a foundation that doesn't feel icky and evens out my skin tone.

But for that I can just talk to my mom, she used to work the counters at Robinson-May (now Macy's) but she never made people feel bad about themselves. Black women were surprised when she knew what kind of make up they needed to use. She is a licensed cosmeotologist and hair stylist too but she doesn't really "practice" hair because my sister and I have learned, the hard way, that she's a bit rusty. She still cuts my dad's hair and trims Anais' hair. But it's really a cutthroat business since you get paid on commission.

adios, off to class!

This salon was nice enough and the lady who did my hair was very sweet. I think it's the sitting in front of a mirror for two hours and looking at all the fashion magazines that gets me.

I have my career transition meeting in Zurich today. I'm settling into my haus frau role, but as pushing myself to get this free counseling regardless if I end up getting work or not. It's a kind of "what color is your parachute" exercise right now. Sort of interesting.

Oh, and DH did hear back from WDW. They said they will not pay for an international plane ticket and he can call them back when he moves to the States. I think DH was bummed for a minute. I'm a bit relieved. I'm still adjusting to our current move. And now he can come to Disneyland Paris with us for a couple of nights.

OK, got to get lunch and breakfast ready for the kids. Looks like it's finally not snowing this morning, though there is snow everywhere. Obviously. It's Switzerland!

Have a great day Divas!

I'll resurrect and old quote:
JUST DO IT!

I had a measley 1-lb loss this week, which brings by total loss to 16 pounds. I was really hoping to get to 20 before our trip, so I'll have to ramp up the exercise, cut back on all the popcorn Marty's been making, and lose at least 2 pounds per week for the next 2 weeks.

I have not being doing all that great this week...due to scheduling and my daughters bathroom habits I have not worked out as much as I normally would plus I have been doing the whole bite here bite there thing so using more points than I intend to. Doesn't help that there are goodies everywhere and potlucks with 5 kinds of cheese cake! :scared1: Hope you all are doing well.

Tina - I know what you mean, I was trying to get under 200 by the trip but I still have 5.2 to go...I would have to lose 2.6 each week which is a lot! Doubt it will happen. I will just do the best I can.

Take care,
SarahMay

Good Job gals, even with one pound. A loss is a loss and it is not a gain, so I will take it. Tina you have passed me up, but I am having major PMS, except the old bat is not arriving. Just the joys of perimenopause, or so they say! Anyhow, I am staying on track even if I am devoting a full 6 points to just red wine tonight, and hope eventually it will catch up with me and I will have a giant loss all at once. Hope you all have a great weekend. I really need a staycation somewhere but am not sure that is in my cards.

We recently bought Worldmark vacation points and I am just waiting with bated breath for them to close so that I can book a little vacation somewhere, even if it is not Disneyland.

Tonight we went and bought a treadmill from a lady via Craigslist. I hope it will be a decent one. It is a HealthRider i500s or something like that. The reviews seem okay, so we will see. I have been doing the bowflex and sit ups, but need more cardio. I stopped going to the Y last fall when the flu started and I am not anxious to go back. Nathan never liked it in the kid zone anyhow.

Tomorrow, I devote to cleaning out the office. That will be a huge job.

Used some of my allowance points but it was SO worth it!

We walked 1.5 miles today to get some golden spoon and it was all uphill. Then we walked in the mall.

I'm tired and off to bed. Good night!

It's been a little hard adjusting to eating at home because there are temptations...EVERYWHERE! There's See's candy in the fridge and Nutella under the counter.

If you have never had Nutella, it's the same consistency of peanut butter (and around the same calories) but it's pure chocolate! I had some this morning but of course I measured my serving. I served it on my 1/4 c. pancake and it was DELICIOUS! I really wish they had a reduced fat or fat free version. It would totally be a staple in my apt.

I hope everyone has a great day. I'm scheduled to do homework, shower & get ready and head over to spend time with my little cousins. We always have so much fun together.:thumbsup2

I leave for France tomorrow, so working out and eating right will be...well...challenging. The boys and I are taking a train to Strasbourg tomorrow where we will stay one night. The next day we leave for Disneyland Paris. DH will join us Thursday night.

Must admit I'm a little bit anxious about traveling with the boys myself. I have taken the train alone with them, but I haven't done four days vacation before. I hope this will be fun. :sad2: For them, yes, but I'm not seeing a lot of relaxation for me in the near future.

I'll try to post from DLP but as I remember Internet is very expensive.

Have a great week everyone!
