Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Happy Monday! Today is my W8D3 of the C25K and it is HOT! I was going to try to run before it got too hot but I got caught up in my work emails and by 9am it was already in the mid 70's and I do not do well running in the heat. I'm going to try to go out around 8pm - should be in the low 80's high 70's but at least the sun won't be beating down on me...hopfully I'll make it ok!

Yesterday was my off day but we went to the beach and we hiked up a cliff (Pointe Dume if anyone is familiar) it wasn't a bad hike but it was about a 30 min. walk and the views were awesome!

I didn't get as "back on track" as I'd hoped. It's been rough, but I've been trying and today when I weighed in I was down to 216 for a loss of 9 pounds. I was thrilled to see that. Hopefully that will be the motivation I needed to keep going.

9lbs is fantastic! :banana:I am happy for you! I know how hard it is to get on the wagon again. I haven't lost much during my 8 weeks of running maybe 5lbs. I actually forgot to weigh. When I know I have gained I stay off the scale bad I know - denial! I am really trying to watch what I eat now because I know the running will be easier if I can get this 15 - 20 lbs off!!

As hoped, things turned out in a way to make my run possible. Noon meeting was rescheduled to Monday.

90 minutes
8 miles
DONE

What did you do today?
It's not too late. Get out and MOVE! :woohoo:

Yay!:cheer2: 8 miles in my dreams but maybe some day! Glad things worked out and you were able to get in your run!

So...I weighed in this morning and was afraid! I had planned on drinking my new fav beer Miller 64 last night (what else can you drink where 5 beers is only a little over 300 calories??) but they didn't have it! OH NO! What to do?? Drank regular ones of course. Several! Then after the show we needed to eat something (hadn't had dinner of course) and grabbed a pretzel which I love but MAN! So this morning I was worried about a gain. Weighed in at 199.5!!

Congratulations!! That is wonderful!! :cool1: Are you following a set program? I can't get into following anything specific right now - I've done some crazy diets in my past and I can't bring myself to even follow a plan so I am just trying to cut out the junk calories and eat half of what I was eating. We'll see if it works! Again Congratulations on your weight loss!

Well, this spring my dh and I have both been emotionally eating, and have both gained an additional 10-15 pounds each. My largest clothes in my closet aren't fitting and we're heading into shorts/tank top weather here in Phoenix! :scared1:

So, I know what I need to do food-wise, and just really need to rid my house of the junk and I'll be fine. What I really stink at is the exercise part. I HATE HATE HATE exercising! I printed out a "couch to 5-K" program this morning and talked to Dan about doing it with me. I think he will, I just need to get him fully on board. We don't have a treadmill, so we'll be walking/running outside, hopefully in the mornings or after dinner.

I am an emotional eater too and since I made the move to CA I've gained about 15-20lbs. Ugh! Stress and boredom are my enemies!

I am currently doing the C25K now and I am in week 8 - almost on week 9 if I can get out there today. I used to run track in high school but I never liked it much it was just something everyone did - more a social thing and I still do not love running but I have found that the program moves at a very comfortable pass and it's amazing how quickly you really do progress! 8 weeks ago I would never have thought that I would really stick with this but DBF is a casual runner and this is something we can do together (if he slows down his pace) and we can do it anywhere. We ran at DL a couple of weekends ago and I ran in Florida when we were there last month so that is fun to be able to explore while exercising. If you try it it will be a great thing for you and your DH to do together. You can do it!!:yay:

Monday again ladies!! I hope everyone has a good healthy week. :)

Hi Beth! Wishing you the same.:cutie:

Hey, Vicki, you are doing great! Yeah, it's hot here today. I went to the gym and did 25 min of cardio before the hi low aerobics class started. They tried to get the ac working but the room was hot. Well, it kept our muscles warm anyway.

Gonna jump in the shower. It should cool down nicely by 8 for your run.:yay:

I know Jen, sometimes there just isn't time. But you'll make up for it.:cheer2:

Thanks Donna! I am sure that was a warm arobic workout...no AC!! Yikes! Awesome that you go to the fitness club on a regular bases!

I finished W8 today or rather tonight! I did go out around 8:30pm to run and it worked great. I love running at night if I have the energy and tonight i did. It's so peaceful and I am finished with my day and don't have to worry about what I have to do when I get back, just take a shower and relax! Even though it was still warm in the mid 80's when I ran the sun was not beating down on me and it was really pleasant! This was my best run in a while...I didn't struggle as much as I had been last week. When I look back at my runners log that I've been keeping from day 1 I really cannot believe how far I've come - one more week and I've actually completed the prgram.

I hope everyone had a great day and an even better tomorrow!

Yeah! So glad your run went well!

And here's a half marathon training program to start up once you finish your W9. Should have you trained up for the DL half marathon! :woohoo:

Got in a 45 minute run today after 3 days of nothing. About 3.5 miles. I am so much happier now.

beth, you lost 9 pounds!! Holy smokes! I wish I could lose that much at once.:goodvibes Great job!

You all are doing fabulous!

I am so happy! I was worried about the warmer weather since I have like NOTHING to wear. I didn't want to go out and buy a bunch of new stuff since I am losing weight. Well, I tried on my stuff from few summers ago and most of it fits. I am wearing a really pretty blouse that is a 16. On the ladies trip I was wearing a 20. I just had to share.:cool1:

Yesterday my dh and I walked a brisk 2 miles, and today I did another whirlwind tidy for a showing of my house.
Good for you!! :thumbsup2

That's awesome! I'm jealous! I am barely able to get into a 20. Keep up the amazing work!!! :woohoo:

Hi Vicki! That's great to hear, you're almost done!
I am so happy I found a gym I really like. That made all the difference. Last night DH said, you don't have to go every day, you have to let your muscles rest.

I reminded him I wasn't doing weights daily, just cardio. Anyway, got on the scale and hit the last low number that I saw maybe a month or so ago. So this week of really eating carefully and the exercise worked (which is good coz I'm getting weighed today).

Next goal is to see a number I have not seen for 4 1/2 years. That's the next pound. :yay: For me to see that, it means I've finally broken through this back and forth I've dealt with for the last few months.

That's great news to share! Yea! I was the same way about not wanting to buy clothes. And then I found I was just losing anyway, so the clothes were going to get bigger. I found a great little tailor who has good prices and I'm that gal in the yogurt commercial who come in and says she wants her clothes taken in! :)

Someone mentioned a great thing - anyone here have a Wii? We could play online - so it might be possible to do the sports pack online (bowling, tennis, boxing).

Anything to get your body moving!

:scared1: Maybe in 2010+ but thanks for the link!! I am going to continue running, working on my distance first after I finish the program and tackle my first 5K when I find a fun one to do!

Glad you were able to get a run in today!

Awesome, awesome, awesome! It's always so much fun to try on clothes that haven't fit in years/months and they fit! I did that 2 years ago when I lost 35lb and then I got rid of all of my big sizes swearing I'd never need them again...well I don't need my biggest sizes now but this weight gain I've experienced since moving to CA has made my clothes very snug...ugh! I want to just kick myself and stomp around like Donald!:donald:

I am so happy for you! Here's some pixie dust for that next pound lost. :wizard: I wish it didn't matter but I know when I am down to a lower weight everything just seems to be so much better in my life.

We don't have a Wii at our house, the kids have one at their mom's house. It sound fun and you can really play in online with others? That would make it even more fun! I might just think about getting one here if that is the case and we could play together!

Have a great day everyone!:flower3:

I worked out today!

I burned 540 calories at the gym (not swimming :scared) so my legs are so tired! Sadly the pool won't be open until tomorrow I was totally planning on doing 300-400 calories on the elliptical and then swimming but it just didn't work out.

Tomorrow I will do it though!

Ooh, that would be great! I just learned last night that you can play online with others as long as you know their code number. It's great exercise either way. I love the bowling, the tennis, even the boxing.

That's a great workout, Cristabel!

I did my workout today and then 30 min of cardio. Jen, did you find when you started exercising a lot that you slept less?

Just a quick post to keep it real. I have a new goal for myself. It's about 8 weeks before the Vegas mini meet, and I figure I can safely and healthfully lose 2 pounds a week for a loss of 16 pounds. So that's my new goal for myself between now and then. Just posting it here to keep myself accountable.

BTW...where is that banner of yours?
And how many stickers should I put in your chart? ;)

Today was a good/bad day for me.
Good: ran 45 minutes, did my weights
Bad: Burger King for dinner (which I initiated) and a Kit Kat (hello?? I never buy candy bars...holiday candy, yes, but candy bars?) I'm just having one of those days. :sad2:

Beth, you can so do that.:cheer2:

Jen, I'm sure you burned that off (ahead) with your run.

I just took my blood pressure. It's gone down a lot since I started this heavy exercising.

Okay, I showed up here a long time ago...then I gained 15 more pounds. My fat pants hurt, and I REFUSE to go up another size.

So, I will see if I find posting here makes me more accountable.

I am a swimmer. I know I need to shake it up and do other workouts, but I have HIDEOUS knees, bone on bone, Ortho says I will need knee replacements by the time I'm 50. (47 now!!:scared1:).

So, I plan to swim, and walk with purpose and eat better. I am a brown bagger and never eat fast food (haven't eaten a french fry since 2004), so why am I so round? Menapause has not been kind to my metabolism.

So, I swam 3000 yards on Saturday although 1000 were with my DD8, so really whimpy, 2500 on Sunday and spent 30 minutes of my lunch both Monday and Tuesday walking.

It is a start. I need to do yoga or something different, but just don't know how to motivate myself. I swim.

Hopefully I will post back, my size 14s will stop hurting and my 12s and 10s will stop mocking me from my closet!!!!

I am so impressed with all of you and your dedication!!!

It is great to see you here. I also moved into a size 14 (my largest) and now am in a 12. And I've got the 10s and even a few 8s laughing at me in my closet too.

I have achillis tendonitis problems so the only thing I could do for exercise was swim. It was a great start but it is hard to really lose if that's all you do (at least for me).

When you're ready, you might want to see what gyms are around you, ones with a variety of classes so you could try the yoga, or mat pilates.

Keep posting. :yay:

Welcome AMY! I am so glad you are here!
Ok, first off---you are 47! You look dang good for 47 (which is not OLD, just saying :)).

I wish I was a 14...I am starting to fit into my 16 pants and capris. Thank goodness. But I know that feeling of refusing to not go up anymore sizes. Good for you for deciding to make a change in your life.

Swimming is a blast! My parents have a pool, it is not that big...but I plan on using it this summer to get a little bit of workout and fun in at the same time.

Hi Amy! I'm right about where you are. Size 14's with 12's and 10's mocking me from the closet.

I wish I could swim well enough to get a good cardio workout. I love to be in the pool (especially when it's 150 degrees outside). Sometimes I wonder if I just used a kickboard and did laps that way if it would be a good enough workout??

Anyway glad you're here! :goodvibes

Ok, so today was day 2 of my C25K, here's my progress so far:

Day 1: You've got to be kidding me???? OUCH!!! My lungs, my shins, my knees, my butt, my back! OUCH!

Day 2: Jogging sucks!!!!! Whoever thought of this should be shot!

At least my dh is doing this with me so I have accountability, because on my own I would have already thrown in the towel. He's a natural jogger, and giggles at me and encourages me while a grumble and complain. I just don't know how to run. I think I look like one of those people you see running and say "Gosh, they look really uncomfortable running." KWIM?

Well, I'm off to get a bowl of oatmeal and start school with the kiddos. Hope you all have a great day and stay cool! :cool2:

Jen, did you find when you started exercising a lot that you slept less?

No, still sleep the same - about 8 or 9 hours a night. But overall, my energy level is better.

Swimming is AWESOME! Especially if you have bad knees. Just keep swimming....
You might try some yoga or pilates classes to see if you like them. But if you just swim, nothing wrong with that.

Sounds like you're right on track! :lmao:
It does get easier, I promise. Just remember to stretch after you run and ice any soreness. Stretch and ice (ice with frozen peas, corn, etc...)

As for me, I'm starting out eating right with oatmeal, flax seeds and blueberries. So I'm getting back on track.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential.
-Liane Cardes

Good morning all!

A quick check in - I did W9D1 today..30 min. of running. This is the last week of the program and I cannot believe I actually made it! I am really excited with the progress I've made because if any of you would have seen be struggling with those 90 sec. run intervals early on you would have been wondering if I would make it too! I still HATE running but I have stuck with this program better than anything in a long time so I guess there must be something I like about it. ;)

I ran early because tonight is Open House at my DBF's DD's high school and he's asked if I want to go. I am thinking about going...this 'step-child' thing is proving challenging. I am not sure when I should go and how much I should get involved sometimes without overstepping boundries with my DBF's ex...oh well. I have lots of time to think about all of this while I run!!

I hope everyone has a great active day! :yay:
