Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Good luck! :woohoo: I'm sure you'll do it!
BTW...where is that banner of yours?
And how many stickers should I put in your chart? ;)
Banner's gone. Dead and buried, and no stickers for me. In fact, please just burn my chart. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Sorry, don't mind me, I'm negative and being a beotch today because I cannot get back on track and stay there and it's frustrating me to no end. :( I'm just horribly disappointed in myself. But really, really proud of everyone here who is sticking with it and reaching their goals. (hugs)

Okay, I showed up here a long time ago...then I gained 15 more pounds. My fat pants hurt, and I REFUSE to go up another size.

So, I will see if I find posting here makes me more accountable.
Welcome back AmySue!! Just coming back here is a start. I know you'll be back in those 10's in no time.

Sometimes I wonder if I just used a kickboard and did laps that way if it would be a good enough workout??
Sure, why not?? :confused3 Anything getting you moving and your heart rate raised is a good workout.

As for me, I'm starting out eating right with oatmeal, flax seeds and blueberries. So I'm getting back on track.

Good for you Jen!!

I ran early because tonight is Open House at my DBF's DD's high school and he's asked if I want to go. I am thinking about going...this 'step-child' thing is proving challenging. I am not sure when I should go and how much I should get involved sometimes without overstepping boundries with my DBF's ex...oh well. I have lots of time to think about all of this while I run!!

I hope everyone has a great active day! :yay:
That is hard. I can see how it's always a balancing act, wanting to be involved but not over step at the same time. Good luck and the running will help clear your mind. At least that's what I've heard. ;)

C'mon Beth! You can do it! And, get yourself a banner! Then, work towards getting your 50 back.

t gyms are around you, ones with a variety of classes so you could try the yoga, or mat pilates.

Keep posting. :yay:

I messed up the quote, but am over it!! I really stopped losing weight when I was swimming a lot last time I did this. But, I was wearing a 10, which for my frame is not too big!! But, I am a swimmer.....was very driven. I would swim without stopping, length after length for an hour, hour and a half, usually put in about 2.25 miles, all freestyle, all flip turns, then I stopped. Don't know why. It is a little hard to fit it in my day, particularly in the summer as I have my DD and she gets tired of spending her day in the kids cay care at the Y. So, I think that stopped it. I now work a lot more, and it is harder to fit it in. Just excuses, I know!!

I do belong to the Y, so I can check out those classes.

Go Cristabel! :cheer2:

Welcome AMY! I am so glad you are here!
Ok, first off---you are 47! You look dang good for 47 (which is not OLD, just saying :)).

.

January, you are now my FAVORITE!!!!!

Hi Amy! I'm right about where you are. Size 14's with 12's and 10's mocking me from the closet.

I wish I could swim well enough to get a good cardio workout. I love to be in the pool (especially when it's 150 degrees outside). Sometimes I wonder if I just used a kickboard and did laps that way if it would be a good enough workout??

Anyway glad you're here! :goodvibes

Ok, so today was day 2 of my C25K, here's my progress so far:

Day 1: You've got to be kidding me???? OUCH!!! My lungs, my shins, my knees, my butt, my back! OUCH!

Day 2: Jogging sucks!!!!! Whoever thought of this should be shot!

At least my dh is doing this with me so I have accountability, because on my own I would have already thrown in the towel. He's a natural jogger, and giggles at me and encourages me while a grumble and complain. I just don't know how to run. I think I look like one of those people you see running and say "Gosh, they look really uncomfortable running." KWIM?

Well, I'm off to get a bowl of oatmeal and start school with the kiddos. Hope you all have a great day and stay cool! :cool2:

Callie, I think your 14s look a lot sleeker on you than they do me. Perhaps you are wearing the skinny 14s I avoid?

Your explanation of your jog made me ROAR!! Running has never been for me!!!

Wow! This thread is really moving lately. :goodvibes
Welcome back! :cheer2:
Swimming is AWESOME! Especially if you have bad knees. Just keep swimming....
You might try some yoga or pilates classes to see if you like them. But if you just swim, nothing wrong with that.

Thanks Jen!!! I am off tomorrow, so on top of all I must do after working 3 10 hour days....I AM GOING to the pool, and I am swimming at least 1.5 miles!!!

I then can on Friday, but Saturday work 9-4, then I go to Cheryls to spend the night for our MouseAdventure thing on Sunday!!! Woo HOO.

JUST KEEP SWIMMING!!!!

Yesterday I did really good with my eating and exercise.

Today I have been just eating, eating, EATING! And it's baaaad!
I am going to the gym tonight!

I plan on burning about 200 calories on the elliptical (or more) and then heading to the pool for a 30-40 minute swim.

Amy Sue I wish I could swim lap after lap. It takes me at least 30 seconds to recuperate and not feel like I'm hyperventilating. Swimming is TOUGH!

I thought the same thing about Callie... a tall person wearing 14 is a lot different than a short one.

What a swimmer!

!

Great. I'm headed there now.

Of course no one needs workout clothes, a t shirt will do. I'm finding I'm spending so much time at the gym that I need more workout clothing and I wanted something cooler than what I've been wearing. At Penney's yesterday I found a big sale on their workout clothing. One deal is if you buy one piece at reg price, the second from that line is 88c. It has to be the performance line.

They also had clearance that made the pieces around $11 each for the mid-calf pants and matching sleeveless tops with built-in soft bras. About as good as TJ Maxx except you don't have to hunt for the matching top.

Have a great day movin' your bod!:yay:

I bought some last week, although since I swim...just need the speedo, goggles and a cap??? I am finding my yoga pants so comfy....maybe I will try some yoga?:rotfl:

So today this thread worked for me as I almost had myself weenied out of swimming today. The pool is outside, it was 63 degrees and the pool is only heated to 80 to allow for lap swimming. But then I had a whole accountability/pride thing going, and felt I'd be a liar if I didn't go today.

Let me tell you, I screamed under water when I jumped in. The water was cold. I didn't notice it any more after my 5th length...but brrrrrr.

Oh, and when I was talking about my swimming, I was remembering what I did 3 years ago. Now I swim 200-300 yards (8-10) lengths and then gasp and choke for a bit before shoving off again. I did swim 1.5 miles today. Super pokey slow, took an hour....but I will get faster!!

Hey Cristabel....any swimming is awesome, it kicks your cardio like mad. You probably get more of a work out swimming your one length than I do. The better a swimmer you are, the more efficient your stroke, the less work it is. It is probably why I like it as my workout....it's not painful for me. I swam competitively age 5-freshman college. I had to drop the team due to "academic performance" issues. No way I could swim and get the grades to get into vet school.

Oh, on the college team, I was like the 20th best butterflier....my stroke, so not that they missed me at all!!!!

But I swam....yeah.....thanks for the support you all. I will be tickled pink, and wearing 12's if it keeps working!!!

Of course we need workout clothes! We have to have some kind of reward! :rotfl:Thanks for the heads up because even though I like new workout clothes, I don't like to spend a lot on them.

Thanks for the heads up about the sale at Penney's - we don't have a Penney's here in Simi but there is one in Northridge about 15 min. drive or Thousand Oaks about 20 min drive. I think I will stop at Northridge on my way to the Festival of Books on Sat.

So if I do a doggie paddle then I would burn tons of calories??;)

I'm liking my yoga pants too...maybe a little too much! I tried to stuff myself into my 12 jeans last night and let's just say I had to lie on the bed to zip them and then I couldn't take any deep breaths...:scared1:

SOOO I immediately got online and signed up for Weight Watchers online! Who have I been kidding...I am not monitoring my eating myself even though I had convinced myself that I was 'watching' what I was eating...sure watching it go in!!! So now I have to be accountable because I am not paying $16 a month to mess around.

Usually I have it together dieting and not exercising so now that I am committed to this running; my eating is out of control. I just need to get it all together!! :rolleyes1

That's awesome. Are you taking your family to the book fair? Do you do this every year?

I'm so happy you're going. I usually go every year but didn't get any panel tickets this year. I have a friend who is on a panel too, and she didn't email everyone until today - all the tickets are gone of course. She didn't know because she has never been.

Oops, almost forgot. Did 45 min on the ellliptical x trainer. And the bike the other day that was so hard I could barely move the pedals? It was gone for repairs today! Whew.

I am going tomorrow alone...DBF and his DS are off to a boy scout event Sat. and will campover Sat. night but we'll go again on Sunday and take the kids. So I'll be there both Sat. and Sun.! I am excited to have time to really enjoy it on my solo day! I won't have to worry about any whining or bored kids for one day! Last year was my first time attending and we saw Mary Higgins Clark and her daughter and was able to get her to sign the book that just came out before her appearance and DBF's DD and I were able to get our picture taken with them. It was fun! They are there again this year but decided to pass seeing them again this year. I have tickets to two panel discussions and then I'm going to see who's speaking at the main stage between browsing the vendors...mostly celeberty authors, I think.
Who is your friend who is on a panel? I'll have to look and see what two panels I have tickets for. I know one is Dianne Carroll sp? and I think the other is Authors: Past and Present or something like that. Too lazy to go find my tickets. :surfweb:

Great job on the elliptical! Is your bike a stationary bike? I love riding bikes at the beach. We usually go to Santa Monica but haven't had a chance to get down there in a while! I need to run today...I only have two more runs to complete the program. I am having a hard time getting motivated especially now that it is cooler I can go anytime. When it is hotter I like to go early morning but I need a little kick in the bottom today! M-O-T-I-V-A-T-I-O-N is what I need right now!

Cool is good! You don't have a ticket to my friend's panel, hers is called Pageturners. This will be the first book fair that I can recall where it won't be hot. Kicking myself now for not getting tickets to some of the panels.

C'mon Beth! You can do it! And, get yourself a banner! Then, work towards getting your 50 back.
Thanks Christine! I'm hanging in there. Barely, but still.

Time for Friday weigh in! I am down from 216 last week to 214.6 this week, for a loss of 1.4 pounds. Not much, but I'll take it. I'll take ANY loss at this point.
And that puts me only 1.6 pounds away from getting my 50 lb banner back! So by next week I'll have it back for sure.

Have a good and healthy weekend everyone!! :)

Way to go Beth...sooo close to getting your 50 lb banner back!! :goodvibes

I would be happy with a 5 lb banner at this point!

I just started counting my WW points today...how is anyone supposed to live on 23 points a day!!:confused3 After just breakfast, lunch and a snack I only have 8 points left...Thankfully I ran today so that gave me 5 extra points but still if I hadn't run I would only have 8 points left for dinner and beyond!! Getting extra eating points will be a huge motivator to get out there and move!!popcorn::

Speaking of running...I did my running today and now I only have one more run until I complete the C25k program. I am so amazed that I have stuck with this for this long especially since it's been hard and I've had some really bad running days where I was questioning my choice! I don't feel like I've really graduated yet because I can't run 3 miles but I can comfortably run 2 1/4 miles so my goal over the next couple of weeks is to work up to 3 miles and then I will be able to say I've officially done it!

How do the points translate to calories? Do you know? I'm trying to stick to 1200 calories a day but it's really hard for me. :headache:
And I don't run like you do. :rolleyes1

I am glad you asked because I was thinking about this today and had forgotten to look it up. It is approximately 50 calories per point with some adjustment for fiber. So with my 23 points and no extras I would only be eating 1150 a day...that sounds kind of low but when I filled out all of the info that is the alloted points I was given.

Also I get 32 points to use over the week so if there is a day I want to eat mroe I can take from that allotment and of course I could always run twice a day and get 10 extra points a day. :dance3: Don't think that is going to happen! I'll have to at least get some walking in on my non-running days or I won't even get those 5 extra points. :scared1: My stomache is growling now...I think I'll go eat an orange, only 1 point. I hate dieting!!

Wow, 1150 seems low especially for someone who is exercising the way you are. :confused3

If I run everyday I can get 5 extra points but that still is only 1400. And walking is a lot lower points 45 min. = 3 points and 30 min = 2 points. Ugh! I went back and did the profile questions again and I still only get 23 points. It might be because unless I am running I am not moving around much with working in front of the computer all day. :surfweb:Maybe I should stand up to work all day!:rotfl:

I'm so sorry I have been neglecting this thread. I can't wait until tomorrow when I will have a lazy day, enjoying my kids and catching up on the Dis!! I am in between classes for another week and really need some relaxation time. I'm so proud of all of you for staying on track! And how awesome to have Amy Sue and Calli join the group!!

So..here is my weigh in. I weighed in this morning at 197. Can't remember where I was last week...maybe that was when I hit 199.5? So 2.5 lbs gone!! And total of 46.5 lost. Wooohoooo! I just want to get farther away from the dreaded 200 so I never have to see it again!

And miss Beth...I saw your post! How awesome to be so close to getting your 50 lb banner back! You WILL have it next week...and I'll try to stay close behind you. Hopefully I will have mine in the next 2 weeks.

My goal for this week is to start the couch to 5k program. Meant to start it weeks ago and haven't. I want to get a week in before I start school again so I can try to establish a routine. Here's hoping....I need to get ready before the 5k hits...Sept will be here before I know it.

Off to watch a movie with my munchkins. See you all tomorrow.

Just checking in...

Well, I gained back the weight I lost last week after much bad eating. :sad2:I have really been eating poorly and the scale doesn't lie. I've just been feeling so overwhelmed with work and life and whine, whine, whine, whine... Anyway, I have pretty much kept up with my exercise, so hopefully can bounce back to healthier ways. Maybe it's time for me to start counting those weight watchers points again.

Congrats to those who lost weight this week! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

It is late, and I have to work tomorrow, so not responding to anyone, but I did swim today. I was running late, the wind was whippy (62 degrees out when I got in the outdoor pool), so I only did a bit over a mile. But I got wet. That is half the battle!!!

Now my next exercise is DL on Sunday for MA!!

AmySUe

Hey Divas! I would like to join in on the weight loss fun if I may. I just got weighed a few weeks ago and I'm up to 210 and I'm about 5'9". I don't care about how I look I just want to be healthy. I have really high blood pressure for being so young. I'm ready to have some positive reinforcement to get in shape! :cool1: :yay: :woohoo:
