Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

After a couple weeks of diligent working out, I decided to brave the scale this morning. Trying to outsmart the scale, I stepped on first thing in the morning, before I'd even had a sip of tea or coffee (and certainly before I had anything to eat). I'm 137.5. That's 2 and 1/2 pounds lighter than when I came home for the DIS DL trip. I think. I haven't been diligent about tracking, but I'm pretty sure I've lost weight. Wanted to write it down quick to lock it in! :yay:

My schedule is not coming together the way I'd hoped, so that 90 minute run is not fitting in right now. Hopefully, things will work themselves out to help me make this happen.

How's everyone else going today?
Time to check in!! :woohoo:

QUOTE OF THE DAY
If I cannot forgive myself for all the blunders
That I have made over the years,
Then how can I proceed?
How can I ever dream perfection-dreams?
Move, I must, forward.
Fly, I must, upward.
Dive, I must, inward,
To be once more
What I truly am
And shall forever remain.

Hi all! I decided to try weighing in---this morning I was 2 pounds less than last Thursday. I am now down 17 pounds since March 20. :yay:
Wow! That is awesome January!! I knew in that profile pic you have on Facebook that you looked thinner. Way to go!!!

Yeah!! :yay:
Ok, let us know as you check your daily exercise and we'll put stickers in your 5-day sticker chart. ;)
Ooooooh, stickers!! :yay:

Ugh, will it ever get easier and I fall in love with running??
Good luck Vicki. Since I'm not a runner, barely even a walker most days, I cannot understand your struggle, but I do know you seem determined and you can do this!! :cheer2::cheer2:

I gained almost 90 pounds (yes I said 90 :scared1:) with my pregnancy and I've only lost about 30 so far :headache:. I'm so big and out of shape that I feel their is no hope :guilty:.

I had brunch with CaliforniaDreamin (Donna) today and it gave me the boost I needed to get motivated to do something about my weight.

The first step is posting here and getting some ideas on where to start. And believe me, I won't be running. Since I'm still breastfeeding, my chest & running don't mix (not a pretty sight :rolleyes1). So I'm going to start off walking & writing down my food intact in a journal and then I will go from there :yay:.
There is always hope! You can do it and you're going to look and feel better than ever before. There will be no way people will guess you are a mom of three. Just focus on that thought, and think how awesome that would be. :yay:

That's great you had brunch with Donna. And the walking and food journaling will go a long way to getting you started. You can so do this!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

Tomorrow I'm back at the gym to do my 45 min of cardio and then a class.

Keep up the good work everyone!:cheer2:
You too!!! :cheer2:

Awesome!! Way to go Jen! :thumbsup2

Well, it's been a week and a half since I posted that I had gained a bunch of weight back and was back up to 225. :sad2:

I didn't get as "back on track" as I'd hoped. It's been rough, but I've been trying and today when I weighed in I was down to 216 for a loss of 9 pounds. I was thrilled to see that. Hopefully that will be the motivation I needed to keep going.

By they way, Amy hasn't checked in yet, but after seeing her last night, I have to say, she is smoking hot!! I just had lunch with her, Jane, and Michelle on the 3rd of this month and I swear seeing her again last night with Jane and Stacie, she looked even thinner to me than she had at that lunch barely two weeks ago!!! :worship:
So way to go Amy!!!!!!!!!! :yay: :woohoo: You skinny witch you!

9 pounds in one week when you weren't quite "back on track"? Hello?
THAT IS AWESOME!!!:yay:
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
And I'd say that's definitely a sign that you are turning things around.:cheer2:
GO GIRL!:woohoo:

And Beth, how did your exercise go yesterday? Did you earn your sticker?:confused3

And way to go Amy on looking smoking hot!! Have you picked out that awesome dress that you are going to buy yourself once you get to your next goal? YOU DESERVE IT! :woohoo:

BTW, Amy...time to check in!

Hello ladies~

Thanks for welcoming me to your group and for the encouragement :goodvibes.

Beth~ That is great for a week .

I didn't get any exercise in yesterday since I was busy running around getting DS signed up for football camp. Maybe I should just go to football camp with him and I'll be super fit by the end of the summer. They practice 5 days a week, 6 hours a day for 2 1/2 months :scared1:. But my son thrives on being tortured physically, so he can't wait to start (he sure didn't get my genes ).

Anyway, I did go out and buy a journal to write down my food intake & I plan to go to the grocery store tonight to buy healthier food options for the house. After I pick the kiddos up from school today, we're going to go for a walk.

Keep up the good work everyone & hopefully soon I will be as dedicated as you guys :yay::yay:.

My schedule is not coming together the way I'd hoped, so that 90 minute run is not fitting in right now. Hopefully, things will work themselves out to help me make this happen.

As hoped, things turned out in a way to make my run possible. Noon meeting was rescheduled to Monday.

90 minutes
8 miles
DONE

What did you do today?
It's not too late. Get out and MOVE! :woohoo:

Thanks. Technically it was a week and a half, and I was honestly eating so many calories before, that ANY change would have netted a loss. I was just going hog wild for a while there. :sad2:
But it does feel good to be back in the teens. I was just getting to high up there again! And now I just need to shoot for that elusive 200 lb mark.
Oh, and no sticker for me yesterday as I was feeling sick in the morning, but I get one for today.

You will be!! Healthier food options are a good start. I found in the beginning, it just helped me to stick with Lean Cuisines. It was easy with no thought required which is what I personally needed. Their panninis and flatbreads are pretty good.

Also the 100 calorie snacks are good too. I love the Lorna Doone cookies. And do you like Reeses PB cups? It's one of my favorite candies. These Reeses peanut butter wafer bars are heavenly: http://www.hersheys.com/products/details/100Calorie/index.asp?name=ReesesBars

Good idea about the frozen meals. They'd be quick and easy to prepare (which is a big plus).

I LOOOOVE peanut butter and chocolate together & those look nummy :lovestruc. My problem would be just stopping at one :rolleyes1.

Hi friends...

I don't have long..and promise to go back and reply to many posts after I get through the weekend. 2 big papers to write for grad school, both due on Sunday, and I have only barely started one. So I will be drinking coffee and staying up until I can get them done.

So proud of all of you for staying on track and glad to see we have new company!! (Miss you January!!!!!)

Beth!! Wow 9 lbs is amazing! Keep it up..I promise you will pass me by in no time. And thanks for all the compliments! I swear, I keep telling you I only look thinner because I bought new clothes...you know....ones that actually FIT!! (hint hint). But thanks! I wanted to reply to the mini-trip report but the thread was locked. No headache, little tired this morning but last night was so much fun!

So...I weighed in this morning and was afraid! I had planned on drinking my new fav beer Miller 64 last night (what else can you drink where 5 beers is only a little over 300 calories??) but they didn't have it! OH NO! What to do?? Drank regular ones of course. Several! Then after the show we needed to eat something (hadn't had dinner of course) and grabbed a pretzel which I love but MAN! So this morning I was worried about a gain. Weighed in at 199.5!!

WOOOOHOOOOOO a weight that starts with a 1!!! Haven't seen that since the mid-90's!! So happy! So I need to get through this weekend and get back on track with exercise. I am going to cut back on school for a few months and focus on me. The weight loss is slowing (don't get me wrong..still happy to be losing) and I know I need to keep pushing through and exercise is even more important now. My original goal was 165 but now I think I am going to shoot for 155 since that is where I should be for a solid "normal" weight for my height.

Anyways....I'll be back to catch up. Great job all!!!!!

WWWWWWWHHHOOOOOOOAAAAAA Nellie!!!!! Back up the train!!! Wait just a minute!!!! Did I just see what I thought I saw???

I have a TAG???? A real live, honest to goodness TAG!! I can't believe it!!

OK....so it's a really embarrassing tag...but it's a TAG!!! Wooohooooooo!

Thank you tag fairy!!!!

And Beth and/or Stacie who I know planted some seeds..lol.

Yea Jen for your victory over the scales!!! That is terrific. And there's no measuring how much healthier you are from all that running.

That's great you had brunch with Donna. And the walking and food journaling will go a long way to getting you started. You can so do this!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:
:thumbsup2

Beth, she's so great, I'm so glad we got to meet. AND... I got to see that cute baby in person. I can say she is more adorable than her photos. And she's got the best disposition of any baby I have ever eaten with. Just all manners and smiles, a little lady, I mean perfect.

I know you will. Buying the journal is such a concrete step forward.

 Amy, that is big news!!! Fantastic!!!! You are my encouragement!!

I made it to the gym where I did an aerobics class (1 hour but than also includes the stretching) and then 45 min of cardio. I thought I'd mix a bike in there but it was so strange, that bike, even when set on level 1, was so incredibly hard to pedal. I've done other bikes elsewhere and never had a problem. Anyway, I returned to the elliptical.

I like the LC and the 100 cal packs and they've helped me at times.

I'm moving into a new phase. For a month, am eating really really healthy. I need to do this because in spite of the increased exercise, I've been hovering over the same two pounds for weeks now. Back and forth, back and forth. So am gonna push through.

Man, Amy, that is just so cool.:cheer2::cheer2:

Awwww, cute. A little Diva in training. I love it. princess:

Hi ladies!

As I was sitting here this morning nursing a horrible junk food hangover, I had the inspiration to come over to the WISH thread and check out what's been going on with y'all. Looks like there have been some awesome successes!

I am normally a pretty healthy eater and can keep my weight mostly under check. It seems I'm always 10 pounds heavier than my "goal weight", but I've learned to live with that.

Well, this spring my dh and I have both been emotionally eating, and have both gained an additional 10-15 pounds each. My largest clothes in my closet aren't fitting and we're heading into shorts/tank top weather here in Phoenix! :scared1:

So, I know what I need to do food-wise, and just really need to rid my house of the junk and I'll be fine. What I really stink at is the exercise part. I HATE HATE HATE exercising! I printed out a "couch to 5-K" program this morning and talked to Dan about doing it with me. I think he will, I just need to get him fully on board. We don't have a treadmill, so we'll be walking/running outside, hopefully in the mornings or after dinner.

Hoping to check in here more often to get encouragement & inspiration!
Right now I'm going to go make myself a detox smoothie for breakfast. Gotta flush out all the crap I ate last night.

Hope you all have a great weekend! :goodvibes

Well aren't you sweet :flower3:.

I told you those bikes are harder than they look. The cycling class I used to take used to kick my butt

Welcome Callie, but I think you look great :). Good luck with your walking program and I hope you get lots of walks in before it gets too hot

I'm going to go google the "couch to 5K" program to see if it might work for me. I'm trying to gradually get back to exercising.

BTY~ What's in your detox smoothie?? I think I might need one of them :rolleyes1.

Hi Callie,
I agree with Katie and think you look great! But it's also about how you feel and if you aren't happy with the way you look or feel then we are here to help you and support you in anyway we can. :thumbsup2

Hi Callie (love your photos in your sig, btw),

It's really good you're here. I don't know if you've ever seen Dancing With the Stars, but it was getting to be a joke that the prettiest, trimmest models were the worst dancers. They weren't exercising and they had no core strength.

So I now believe exercise is key (and I was also in that hating exercise club before). The weight loss is the bonus, great health is the bottom line.

Okay, so I was rushed yesterday but managed to do 30 min of cardio on the cross trainer. I'm leaving now to do my 45 min and then a yoga class.

And how's your Sunday?

BTY~ What's in your detox smoothie?? I think I might need one of them :rolleyes1.

Hi Katie! My detox smoothies look different depending on what I have on hand to throw in.

This morning I made one with spinach, banana, strawberries, mango, carrots, a cutie, and some soy milk & honey. And a dash of cayenne pepper for a kick. I know it sounds strange, but it tasted really good and the cayenne and spinach are really good for you. :)

I know I am not super overweight, but I know how awful I feel when my clothes don't fit because I've been eating too many sweets and spending too much time doing this :surfweb: and not this .

Yesterday my dh and I walked a brisk 2 miles, and today I did another whirlwind tidy for a showing of my house. I was completely out of breath by the time I was done. It's 95 stinking degrees outside today, so I won't be doing any cardio out there. Maybe I'll hop in the neighbor's pool with the kids, but that'll be it for me.

Hope everyone else is having a great weekend!

Crazy day here...DS turns six and need to get to his school for cupcakes and a craft. Also have a full work schedule. Days like these are difficult to juggle.
