Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

The positive for us is that we got park hoppers cheap enough to actually GO to WDW. Initially I thought the class would provide some "behind the scenes" aspects, but we waited in the general queue with everyone else. The class just wasn't really "magical" like I envisioned a class presented at WDW to be, period. Different strokes for different folks. With that said, I would do again for the discount and pick a different class. I'm sure some are better than others.

yes..that!:cool1: there were some great aspects about their edu. programs, and some not so great aspects. I tried to be positive in my feedback,I do want the programs to continue! I did mention the age range thing however......

I wrote asking about the on-line registeration. This is the response I got today.

"You are correct, the website is not available to order tickets. We are hoping to have it up in a couple of weeks."

So, I guess just keep checking the site.

I see the dates listed on the website this morning but I still getting an error when I go to "Tickets". It seems any day now. How exciting!

No, sorry I don't see any dates in August.

Hi, all -- I'm looking for class information on the Properties of Motion at MK. We are planning a trip in June and have 3 kids that will be participating, 4th, 8th, and 9th grades. I don't have their tickets yet so I thought I'd purchase them through this program -- it sounds great!

I'm hoping that someone who has been to this class can post a synopsis - what the kids did, ages, and did they enjoy it? The age range is so broad that it made me wonder, I'd like to keep all 3 of them together but I don't want the older ones to be bored.....

Also a couple of questions -- if the older kids are with the younger one, does an adult still have to chaperone? Adults have annual passes, so we don't need to buy tickets, does anybody know how that works? If we do have to chaperone, would we still have to pay for the class for ourselves? :confused3

If anyone can shed light on any of this, it would be most appreciated!

During the YES classes that my kids attended during the Homeschool days, I did not stay. In fact, I don't think any parent stayed. I don't know if Open Enrollment is different. I know I asked Sarah if MORE than one adult could come and she said yes. I do know that they offer the class ticket by itself if you have annual passes. They are around $25 a per class.

We went for open enrollment and all of the parents stayed in our group. She did ask if we were staying, so it's probably optional.

The on-line registration site is back up, but it says "for individuals attending the event in January 2010" and lists classes for the end of Jan.

Hopefully, this will be updated soon.

A question, though--on the site that is up, it only lists will-call as a way to pick up your tickets. How did you get them mailed to you?

Thought you might want to see my thread I started a month ago with the same question. I was able to form a group and all with fellow Disboarders for a March trip! And this was actually suggested by the Y.E.S. program staff because I was in the same situation of not having enough children and not able to attend an open enrollment or homeschool days. If you read through the entire thread you will get so much information about forming your own group if it comes to that. Let me know if you have any questions. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2359690
Aghh, I wish I would have seen this thread sooner. We're going in March and would have loved for the kids to do some of these classes. I see in your thread you already ordered, it's too late now right?

Can someone tell me
*advantage/disadvantage to getting tix mailed versus will call. Is there even an option for open enrollment?
I am thinking that IF our trip should get canceled, it may be better for us/me NOT to pay for tix up front. (right now we have a June and Aug trip in place, but awaiting some med clearance for the June trip to cancel the aug one...UGH!!I thought I read that tix are not paid for Until you pick them up at will call. And tix are Valid from 7 days before your arrival till 7 days after your departure, right?.
*Also, did anyone hear/know if they are offering MORE than the 5 day tix for OPEN enrollment??
TIA, this is a bit overwhelming.......just do not want to mess this up. I would be thrilled if Open enrollment was being offered in Aug, in case we have to cancel June....
Meanwhile my e mail to them was sent at least a week and a half ago with no response yet, :confused:thats a bit disappointing. Thinking they're swamped :confused3

I can only answer a few of your questions from what I've read here or gotten from the Y.E.S. sales dept-

No matter how you get your tickets (delivered or will call) you still need to pay for them in advance. If you're not sure about your June trip, you might want to wait until you are sure to purchase tickets.

Tickets for longer than 5 days are available. I'm not sure how much longer, but I got pricing for 7 and 8 day tickets last week.

Yes, the tickets are valid for 7 days prior to 7 days after the arrival/departure dates you give them.

I just c&p this from their site--

Registration Fees and tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. This program is limited to Domestic U.S. youths only. Specially-priced Theme Park tickets must be reserved in advance (a minimum of 7 business days), and are valid 7 days prior to arrival until 7 days after main departure date. Each order will include a charge of $4.50 for processing. Some activities/events at Walt Disney World® Theme Parks may be separately priced

Thanks Poohluvr! :flower3:

Do you know what happens if they cancel the class (for lack of enrollment?) Does that invalidate the tix? I cannot imagine it would but, if it did, my whole trip would have to be changed (you know, room only versus pkg etc) What if we cannot make the replacement class (I mean we'd be on property for like 2 weeks, thats it though).
:confused3:confused3:confused3

How do I find you guys? I'm hoping for a group class some time during my stay August 28 - September 2.

Four of my grandkids are ages 5, 6, 6 & 7 and I'd like for them to participate in the "How Things Move" class.

I wish I knew about this last year when we went since I call this our back to school trip!

From what I've read on here, if they cancel the class, they will offer you another. But, the tickets are still good.

I intend on signing ds up for 3 of the YES programs. He is now in 5th grade and will be 11 soon. Due to my coaching schedule, we can only make the final 3 classes offered - Ocean's of Discoveries on 7/26, Wild by Nature on 7/27, and Animation Magic on 7/29. All of these appeal to ds, although in looking at the classes, probably all of them would appeal to him! He wants to sign up for all 3.

DS is an A student and often bored in school. He absolutely loves to ask questions, to be engaged, and to explore and learn. Unfortunately, he is very energetic and is quite easily bored in school (he is always thinking of 3 things at once!). He is excited about the opportunity to try something new at WDW and to have a CM teaching him about Oceans and marine life in Epcot, the animals and their behavior in AK, and Animation in HS.

I am concerned with some of the negative feedback on this thread, however, and now I am worried that ds will be disappointed. I am particularly worried that he will not be engaged, intellectually. I am also hoping that he will be encouraged to ask questions, rather than discouraged.

I am hoping to hear from some of those with boys my son's age who have attended these programs and found that the YES program was a worthwhile and engaging experience for them.

This program seems like a wonderful and unique opportunity. And, honestly, I can't imagine him not enjoying himself at WDW!!!!!

TIA!
