Disney Y.E.S. Program

We are looking doing a class in Oct. There is only one class that will accommodate us, Animal Behaviors, because we will have a 7 and 12 year old. How many people need to be signed up for the class to not be canceled. If they do cancel do they give you option or another class? Has anyone have there class cancelled? The thought of scrambling to get tickets at the last min. is crazy. Any experience on this would be great.

We did this class last September though it had a different name. Our class was so big they split it off into two groups and each group had 8 kids and 8 parents. NOW, that was with the old pricing. I'm not sure how full the classes are getting with the new pricing.

I do remember from looking into it before that if they cancelled your class, they would try to move you into another class if there was room and your schedule allowed for it. If not, you got to keep the tickets you had purchased through the YES program and still use those.

I just bought tickets for the Animal Behaviours class on October 1. I am hoping the classes will be full enough to run. It isn't as good of a deal this year, but I think they will still run the classes. We saved around $150.

It will save us because we are going to get premium pass where if we didn't do clas we would have only gotten basic pass.

Right, the premium tickets are where this program will still save you a decent chunk of change. We saved almost $500 last year on basic tickets. This year our savings would only be about $106 for basic tickets. While that is certainly money that I don't want to waste, it just isn't worth it to us to have non-refundable tickets and tickets that cannot be changed.

As far as the Animal class, we enjoyed it a lot! I'm sure your kids will too :thumbsup2

We are traveling may 7-14. I have four children that would love to pArticipate in one of the programs. There seems to be a minimum of 10. Is there anyway to join someone else's group???? First time poster :) been lurking for awhile. Love all the great info

You might be looking at the wrong program. With the individual enrollment singles can register but with group classes you have to part of a group like school, Girl Scouts ect... And have group approved.

Make sure you are looking at the Individual Enrollment site, which is a subset of the Youth Education Series program. But I don't know if there is anything being offered in May for IE.

Thanks for info! Unfort nothing being offered in May for individual enrollment. Will have to to plan around this for next trip.

Tried this over on the Community Boards, was suggested to ask here instead :)

My Girl Scout troop has been working on a long term goal of being able to do the YES program. They would like to attend 3 or 4 classes, so we know we will be paying the extra $37 for add. classes.

I've never done YES before and I'm having trouble finding some info.

We have a very small troop 5 girls, we will have 2 adults attend the trip, which is under the minimum for the "group" YES of 10 ppl.

According to our councils guidelines, 2 adults must be present at all times. Even in the classes. How do we work that so, both adults attend the class ? (I'm getting them impression with the new program, only 1 chaperone can attend with the group )

So, I'm thinking that we will have to try it as individual enrollment ? Where I register myself and 2 girls and my co-leader registers herself and the other 3 girls ?

If we did it that way, both adults would be able to accompany the girls in the classes ?

Has anybody else ever done this ? If so, did you have any problems registering "split" ( such as did the class fill up too quick ?, etc )

I have an AP, as does one of my girl scouts : Is it possible in any way for us to not have to purchase YES tickets, but just pay the $37 per class ?

Suggestions for any other small groups ?

Does Disney ever "bend" the minimum? That would allow our very small group qualify as a group And have 2 participating chaperones, rather than 1 participating and 1 "non"-participating ?

Your plan would work fine. 2 registrations would work. No clue if they ever bend the rules. I doubt it.

We may do a trip in August afterall (we have a big one planned as a surprise Christmas present). This August trip would be a few Disney park days, some waterparks and offsite activities. We'd also be looking to stay offsite in August as Disney wouldn't be the main focus of the trip.

I looked and there are classes during our time frame that my kids would LOVE. Before I purchase though I have a concern. If I am staying offsite and buying Y.E.S. tickets for our few days I am worried that we won't be able to use Fastpass+. I understand that it's still very up in the air how this will all work and whether there will even be Fastpass+ by August. Does anyone know anything? If the Y.E.S. tickets will work with the new system it's a no brainer and we'll go ahead and get them for the August trip. If they won't work I'd rather just renew my AP.

There isn't enough info to go on at this point. It is expected (not confirmed) that all tickets will work with Fastpass+ to some level. What we don't know is whether you'll be able to book any experiences in advance without a ticket on file in your profile, etc. and whether you can enter the data from a YES ticket into your profile in advance.

Thank you. That makes sense. Not being able to do it in advance kind of negates the whole idea really. Well unless I am dying for fastpasses to Stiches Great Escape and It's a Small World at the last minute:rotfl:
I guess I will wait and see a little while longer:)

You have to buy the same number of tickets as people you register for YES. If you have others going on the trip who won't be participating in the class, one of them can use the ticket you purchase while you use your AP. The YES ticket expires though, so it would need to be used on that particular trip or you will lose it.

~~~So is anyone doing Everyday Chemistry or Synergy in Science on 6/25 at EPCOT???? :)
No, they can't be modified in any way. They are also not refundable.
I have read that in certain circumstances they can be refunded, but you lose 10% of what you paid. This, from what I have read is on a case to case basis. They will also work with you to change your class if there is a dire need to do so.
