Disney Y.E.S. Program

From what I see on the site, classes are available Feb 15th and then the next availability is June 12th. Does anyone know from past experiences if they will have classes in between these two dates? I am needing tickets for May 14thish and am hoping that maybe they will open up classes soon. I was thinking that maybe they werent offering in late May due to Star Wars Weekend, but June 12th is during that time too.

Thanks!
Jen

I dont believe they will. They end the classes in Feb and then start up again June - Oct. I know the past couple of years I have done this there were no classes offered in May.

2) As a family do we register as a part of group or as individuals?

To purchase 4 tickets can just one of my sons take a class or do both need to take a class? I understand only 1 adult per child in each class but I'm not sure how many tickets I can buy for my immediate family with only 1 child taking only the 1 class.

You would register as an individual. If one child takes the class - all immediate family members in your party can get tickets. So if you have you, DH, and your 2 sons - one son takes a class and you all get discount tickets.

I'm sure this has been answered a million times in each of the threads but I'm going to ask it anyway :rolleyes1 We are looking to take one of the classes in October. Do I understand this correctly that my husband and I can't both take the class even though we have 2 kids attending? Is it possible to sign up each of the kids seperately to have both adults attend?

We took our first YES class last Wednesday and really enjoyed it. We did the Dynamics of Technology one. It started out with us discussing the science behind everyday objects (shoes, plastic bags, pony tail holders, etc.), and then we went on to ride Mission Space. We hung out there for a while and talked about different space stuff then moved on to Test Track where we were asked to figure out how cars were affected by space technology. Then we wrapped it up by riding Spaceship Earth. That's just a general outline of how the class was. There was a lot of open discussion and math problems (DD did not like this :rotfl: ). There was about 4 groups and each had between 6-8 kids. Since we were in the park before it open (7:45) we were asked to not take any picture until the park officially opened which was a bit of a disappointment but totally understandable.

Overall it was a good experience and I highly recommend it!

One more thing..when you call about picking your tickets up at will call, the little computer voice thing will tell you will call closes at 2pm in the parks and 4pm at DTD. This is not true. Will call is open until 1 hour before the parks closing, and until either 10 or 11 at DTD. If anyone has any other questions, I'd be more then happy to answer them :goodvibes

I'm curious about the picture taking rule. Do you know why they don't want anyone taking pics prior to opening? I hear people talking about getting great pics on Main St. when they have early breakfast ADRs and hadn't heard there was a rule against it. I was hoping to get some great pics both on my breakfast ADR and the YES class.

Right, only one parent/guardian allowed per child/children.

The rule is in place to keep space open/available for others.

As for signing up separately - SGS would see this in the system. Your names/addresses/info is needed for registration and ID is required at GR ticket booth. I would be too afraid they would bust/ban us from future participation.

I guess because there was so much going on that early? There was a lot of cast members changing flowers around and getting stuff ready for the day. The cast member who was leading our group said no pictures until the park was open, so I didn't argue. I too have heard about people taking picture before their breakfast ADRs so I'm not sure how that would be any different :confused3

Not trying to contradict you, but I definitely saw some families that had both of the parents there. It was mostly families with younger children though so I'm wondering if maybe that had something to do with it?

That often seems to depend on your guide/leader, where exactly you are in the park, and perhaps what is going on at the time you're there. My DS and I took an early morning tour (Magic Behind Our Steam Trains, which I highly recommend BTW) that got us into the MK at 7ish and we were allowed (and encouraged) to take pictures except for during certain behind-the-scenes parts of the tour itself. I have a shot from that morning of the castle that I just love, taken from the train station with the morning fog so thick that the castle is just a shadowy outline of itself.

I'll have to ask DH tomorrow if anything was said about photography before their YES class. As writer-mom I pulled the literacy seminar part of DD's YES experience while he got "Ocean Discovery" duty, so he got the early entry this time.

It is one parent per child. You have two children, that equals two parents.

:thumbsup2

I am so happy to have come across this information!

To clarify - these tickets are good for 7 days prior to your arrival date and 7 days after your departure date, correct? So if we are in Orlando for 15 days, these tickets would be good for any of those days - they won't expire at some point during our trip.

Also, we have two children and two parents as well as two grandparents will be going. My dad would love to go to a program like this, and so would my husband (both science teachers...). Is it possible to register one of our children with DH and I listed as parents, and register my other child with my parents listed as his chaperones using my parents address? Or will I have to put in that my DS's address is different from my parents address (and the same as ours) and it will flag it in the system?

Yes, your tickets will be good from 7 days before your arrival date to 7 days after your departure date. Last year, the system got something wrong and listed my arrival date as the date they printed my tickets, so mine said they were good 2/11/11-8/27/11 LOL. We left Disney on 8/20.

Only one adult can attend regardless of the amount of children.

You could register 2 times.
Once with you, your DH, and one child.
And then another time with your parents and the other child.
This would allow your DH and your father to attend the class with your children.
You and your mother would not be able to attend so treat yourselves to something special together.

Hi,

I'm thinking about signing up my DD(9) for one of these classes in September. Does anybody have any experience with the Animation Magic class?

Also, if I purchase the 8 day premium pass it says you get 8 day PH plus 5 admissions to the waterparks and Disneyquest, so if I use 1 WP admission one day I would still have the additional 8 PH days? Also, I could use a park ticket and a WP ticket in the same day?

Thanks in advance! :goodvibes
