As Bill makes land fall, I can't help but think about our group members from the Houston area. The last thing y'all need is more water (heck, that probably applies to any of us from San Antonio to Austin and down to the Gulf ).
Please be safe, and know that you are in our prayers.
And a piece of Disney advice that I hope no one has to use : Just keep swimming (except for TweetyandKitty, please stay out of the water, and have your little swimming students stay home until the storms pass ).

I came across an article about Disney secrets today. No, it doesn't have any cruise secrets (shucks), but it is a fun read for those Disney maniacs in the group.
Here is a link to the article : Disney secrets

Happy be-lated Father's Day to all our Disney Dads!

And, by the end of the week, we will be down to only 5 month!
Where has June gone?

If you haven't done so already, you need to reserve your hotel and or parking before everything books up. Also, you should have already taken care of your passports. Check list items that are right around the corner, and will be on top of you before you know it, are online check in, on board activity reservations, and excursion booking. Now is the time to start looking into what you want to do, so that when your window opens, you are ready.

I have not sailed with Disney out of Galveston before, but I am pretty sure the procedures will be the same. If I am correct, you will not want to doddle when your window to complete your online check in opens. As part of the check in, you will choose your port arrival time, and the good times will be taken quickly.

Too late to join FE group? Will be sailing with the hubby and our daughter. She will be celebrating her birthday on board. Can't wait, she is going to loose her mind!

First let me say welcome aboard!
:welcome::welcome::welcome:
And no, you are not to late to join the FE.
I will add you in.
I will need to get some information from you about your cabin (like cruisers, characters, number and such ). I have a set of questions to send you via messaging, but I will have to wait until you make 10 posts. Those posts can be made on this thread with quick little things like, hi, 5 months till we sail, is anyone else sailing with a teen, and so on. Or you can check out post number 69 for how to post on the test page.
I look forward to getting to know you. If you have any questions, please fill free to ask.

For those that have cruised out of Galveston before, when do you pay to park in the port parking lot? When you arrive or when you leave? I know you can pre-pay online but I would rather not do that.

Smeece, we have sailed out of Galveston before, but have not used the port parking lot. But as we all know, curiosty killed the cat. Like wise, your question set my mind to wondering. So, I did some digging, and ended up calling the port authority.
They were very helpful. The lady I spoke with explain that it is a pay as you enter system. When you let them know what ship you are sailing on, they will charge you according to the length of that cruise.
One other piece of information for anyone parking in the port lot, since we are sailing on Disney, you will park in lot B.
As for passengers and luggage, the port authority advises that they be dropped off at the boat prior to parking.

I hope this helps.

Oh wow! You didnt have to call that was so nice of you! Thank you so much!

It wasn't a problem. I have OCVPD ( obsessive Compulsive Vacation Planning disorder ). So, I thrive on planning and preparing for family vacations.

Ok... Posts are above 10... Have cruised before but new to the forums and FE... Have done my research so I feel ready! Actually already started to collect items and make things. Thanks Tink for organizing...

Just FYI for anyone wanting to stay in Galveston the night before the cruise, I just reserved a room for 2 adults and 2 kids at the Holiday Inn Express Galveston-On The Beach for 152.00. I couldnt believe it was that low but it's an early bird special so anyone wanting a room the reviews sound good. For $10 more they have a "park and cruise" so you can park at the hotel and they'll shuttle you to the port and back afterwards.

I just sent you a message with the information needed for the FE spreadsheet!

Wow! Thanks for the info.
We got an Early Bird special at Harbor House for $124. That was for 2 adults and 1 child. They also have a cruise parking deal for an extra $10. Now we get to see the boat come in. I mean because we won't be asleep any ways with the excitement of anticipation.
Do you have any plans for Thanksgiving dinner the night before?

MouseketeerG - Here is the most up to date group activity poll.

Group activity interests

Pre boarding meet - 2
Mixology class - 3
Group Meet - 4
Shuffle board tournament - 3 (our son)
Basketball shoot off - 1
Cabin Crawl - 5 (Again extra came from our son )(5 - w/poker; 0 w/o)
Pub or lounge meet - 1
Toddler play date (for little ones to young for the kids area) - 4
private verandah meet - 2
*more detailed descriptions of choices in post # 112

It's looking like the Toddler play date, the cabin crawl, and the group meet are the most popular.
If you are interested in any of those, please let me know which ones you want to do, and I will start a sign up sheet for those 3.
As for the others, if interests peak closer to sail date, I will be happy to open other lists up as well.

Also, would one of the Moms signing up for the toddler play time be willing to do the organizing of it. I can take care of the cabin crawl and the group meet, but since I don't have a toddler any longer (going on more than 10 years since ), I would not be the best person for the job.

Did you realize that we will be on board in only 22 weeks!

Oh yeah, Tink, you were going to post on Mondays about what not to forget. What happened?

Oh yeah, Tink, you were going to post on Mondays about what not to forget. What happened?

Oh, WOW, ummm.....I completely forgot  Sorry!

Here are 2 Monday Forget me Not's to make up for that.
1. Sun screen - you will be out in the sun more often than usual. So protect your skin. Being proactive is better than payingthe price later (I am speaking from experience ). Also, there are better things to spend your vacation dollars on, than over priced sunscreen.

2. Something for motion sickness. Things that work well without the drowsy effects of medication are, the behind the ear patch, motion sickness wrist band, and ginger gum, candy or cookies (warning about the ginger items. ..more is not better. Use ginger in moderation. Over doing ginger will upset your digestive system ).
