Disney Wonder May 25th, 2008 Double-Dippers check in here

This is our first cruise, so I'm starting to get that overwhelmed feeling. For you experienced cruisers: How big is your carry-on bag and what do you pack in it? We don't fly, so I don't have any knowledge of what to put in the carry-on and what needs to go in the checked luggage (other than clothes, of course). Can I put my make-up/toiletries in the carry-on (in case we don't have our bags in time to freshen-up before dinner)? Is there a limit to the number of checked bags per person? I'm trying to remember what else I need to do. My oldest is graduating from high school next week and she starts college at the end of June, so I've been really busy with all that. We're leaving for WDW on the 20th and then the cruise is on the 25th, so I'm starting to freak a little.:scared1: HELP!

Sorry Carolina Blue, I misunderstood your question. You said things like checked baggage and carryon's and I automatically thought of airlines. I'll delete this airbag post and relieve others from having to read it.

Wow Peaches....that was quite the post! :worship:

Got docs last week, so things are moving very quickly. Plan on staying on board for most of Nassau day and enjoying an empty (relatively speaking) ship.

Concerning Pirate Night, it looks like it's going to be the same night as the Golden Mickeys. So, does that mean we will be going to the Golden Mickey's in our Pirate gear?

My wife won't let me start packing yet, but I might be able to start selecting outfits for all of us.

4peaches: That's some great advice! I guess I should have been more clear. We are not flying. We never fly, so the only thing that I've heard about the airport security is the liquid rules and luggage limits. I just wondered if the cruise line security is the same way.

For the cruise line security:
Can I carry toiletries and makeup(including liquids) in my carry-on bag?

Is there a limit to the number of bags per person that you can have checked?

Is there a weight limit for your luggage?

Thanks!

Hi Mates!

My family and a friends will be on this cruise. This will be the first time for us. I'm feeling a little nervous, because I'm usually completely organized by this stage in the game, but this trip, I'm just not!

I do look forward to seeing y'all!

There will be:
Me
Hubby
Son -- 13
Son -- 19
and our friend's family:
Wife and twin sons -- 15

Any ideas or advice for our 19-year-old? He's too old for the teen scene on board, but too young to hang out with the parents the whole cruise. He's not too into the shows and stuff. We're all looking forward to this!

Can't believe it's only a couple weeks away now!

Our cruise docs came in and travel agent said we could pick them up Monday so she could check stuff over. But, I told mom, why can't we just get them Saturday. So, that's what we're going to do. Then we can double-check them and drool over them!

I haven't started packing yet, but I guess I could pack all my shorts and tank tops. Can never pack too soon. It will be here before we know it!

Welcome Shellybird! Looks like we have a lot of teens on this trip! My daughter will have a lot of company. Now for my 9 yo son to find some buddies to hang with.

Looking forward to it Peaches! Tell your daughter to look for 3 boys about her age that look like triplets at first glance! My son's friends are identical twins and are the same height, hair color, etc., as my 13-year-old.

They are good boys, who are up for trying and doing lots of stuff. I think we decided today to dress up for the Pirates Party!

Shellybird pirate:

Shellybird - what did they decide to wear? My daughter is gonna dress up, but my son is still somewhat unsure. If he knows some 13 yo boys are gonna dress up and what they are wearing, he might get the desire to dress for the party.

My daughter read your post. Not sure if I want her to hang with 3 boys ;), but she is a petite little thing with long medium brown hair, bangs, green eyes. We've had a previous discussion about our teens being shy and one of the teens on this thread got another thread started just for the teens on this cruise. I'm computer illiterate, or I would try to paste the post here. Just look back a couple of months on this thread and the site is there if the boys want to start communicating with the others.

Is MS for Mississippi, Missouri, Minnesota, or where? I can't recall my abbreviations. If Mississippi, I from the area.

Yes, we are from Mississippi. We are going to decide this weekend what to wear. I asked my son if he just wanted the bandana, etc., and he now I think they've decided they want the full regalia!

I'm thinking simple wench, for me.

I'll look for the other teen thread. We're all excited!

We're getting more excited here! I am going to do most of our packing tomorrow. We are going out of town next weekend for a wedding and I won't have very much time during the two weeks we have before the trip - oh, I can't believe it is only 2 weeks away :yay:. I hate to wait until the night before leaving to pack so tomorrow is pretty much my packing day except for our last minute stuff :woohoo: :woohoo: . Anyone else doing any packing this weekend???

Also, we are going to bring some beer and wine with us on the ship in a rolling softside cooler. Anyone else planning to do the same??? Just wondering if we will be the only ones looking like the Beverly Hillbillies . I have already told my DH he will be the one rolling it onto the ship :rotfl:

I cannot believe we are only two weeks away considering I booked in January 2007!!:cool1: Time does really fly!!:thumbsup2 I started to pack for my boys two weeks ago. As I come across stuff, I've been setting it aside in a seperate room so I don't forget it and my list is a mile long! I am definately in panic mode now!! Everybody is taken care of in my family except for myself.:rolleyes1 I still have nothing to wear.:confused3 I plan to venture out on my own next week. It is near impossible to shop for myself with my two boys (ages 5 and 3) tagging along. My family and I are more of the casual, laid back jean and t-shirt type people, so to dress up is not the norm for us. I personally have nothing in the closet to wear. Wish me luck in finding something, otherwise I am going to have to eat at Plutos Dog house everynight.:sad2: We are very much looking forward to meeting everybody and we'll see all of you real soon!:goodvibes

For anyone staying on site at WDW after the cruise, there are some discount codes available. I was able to upgrade with my AP from POFQ to AKL and still save 29 bucks. I probably should have stayed with POFQ and got 300 dollars back but my daughter really loves AKL :yay:

I did find a dress, and I am going to take peaches's advice, and not care about my arm wings at all. I'd rather enjoy my trips to Disney with my family than worry about whether people see my floppy areas! :scared1:

I'm getting so excited, my travel agent better be fedex-ing me my documents soon!

Our docs arrived late last week so we picked them up Saturday!

Haven't begun packing yet...but really need to start. At least shorts and bathing suits and things that I don't use right now!

For the girls out there that have heard of Vera Bradley bags, I'm finishing up purchasing the last of what I need for the cruise...purses, cosmetic bags, etc. :headache:

Mom and I are still deciding if we want to try to fly out Friday evening instead of Saturday morning. I wanted to take a half day at work on Friday so we could fly out at a decent time, but the boss already has the day off, so I'm stuck at work until 5. But...we're hoping to get a later flight out of Detroit. Probably would connect thru Atlanta and we wouldn't get to Orlando until the wee hours of Saturday morning...but we'd have a FULL day in WDW, which would be great. Our original flight arrives around 10 or 11am Saturday. But, all this switching flights costs money...and so does an extra night at a hotel, particularly Wilderness Lodge or the MCO Hyatt (which we are staying at Saturday regardless). So, who knows what will happen.

Work is going to be difficult the next 2 weeks as all I can think about is the cruise!

until we will be leaving for our first cruise!! It will be DH, myself, DS (13) and DS (6)!! We are all so excited! I don't know how we are going to make it through the next 11 days!! Any ideas to help us survive until time to leave? I haven't even started packing yet so I guess that will give us a little something to work on. WEE HOO!!!: :cool1:

Who else is getting excited?????????????????????:cool1:

Me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me;)

 :dance3: :dance3: :yay: :yay: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Can't wait to meet everyone. :grouphug:
