Disney Wonder May 25th, 2008 Double-Dippers check in here

I found the navigators really easy. It's awesome to see what we'll probably be doing. I know the first thing I have to do when we get on board is head straight to Wavebands and try to get first seating for dining. There is no way my daughter, who eats normally at 5pm and goes to bed at 8:30pm, is going to sit through an hour and a half dinner at 8 at night.

I really hope to meet some of you at the port. I'll be the one constantly saying "OK, Isabel, I need you to keep up. Isabel, I need you to stay with me. Isabel. Isabel." :rotfl2: Maybe I'll put a lime green Mickey on my carry on bag.

Who has the longest distance to travel? We only have to drive from Georgia, about 8 hour drive.

We have a 9 hour drive from North Carolina. We're leaving Monday afternoon and stopping over in Savannah. We'll be checking in at POFQ on Tuesday and doing the parks through Saturday. We are going to the Pirate and Princess Party on Wednesday. I can't believe our cruise date is almost here!:cool1: I've been extremely busy this week: My oldest graduated from high school Thursday, my youngest had her piano recital last night, and we gave the oldest one a grad party today. I have to finish packing tomorrow because we are leaving on Monday.

:banana:Me Too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Myslef, my DH, and our 4 year old DD will be on this cruise as well!! I am so excited! It's for my 30th birtrhday!!!!!:yay:

We finally got our cruise docs yesterday. I was starting to worry.:confused3

We have a 3+ hour flight from Kansas Ctiy.

Now this week, I am focusing on packing. Our neighborhood just had a huge block garage sale yesterday and today, so I made it through that and have some extra $$$$$ for vacation.:thumbsup2

We had illness in our house a week ago, but it appears all is fine now.:)

Well, I better go and get packing!!!!:goodvibes

See you soon.

Hi,

So I just started packing and am feeling very overwhelmed. We are driving down from Atlanta, and I tend to fill up every inch of space in the car with "stuff". Has anyone bought guide books or used any of the packing/travel tips? I know there is something about shoe holders? Also, anyone disinfecting their cabin? I had a friend and her family get the cruise virus, so now I am a little germ weary.

Thanks, and we are staying at the Residence Inn pre-cruise if anyone wants to meet up. Otherwise looking forward to meeting all of you Sunday am. We will be the family with the 3 children going crazy.

This is our first cruise, but I understand the shoe holder is great to hang over the bathroom door and put your bathroom items in -- toothbrush, floss, etc.

I doubt very much that disinfecting your cabin yourself will do anything to lessen the likelihood of getting sick. I understand from others who have been on cruises that DCL is scrupulous about cleaning. Most people get sick from other people not keeping their hands clean once they are on board, not because their cabins aren't clean. But one trip report I read said that Disney is constantly handing out bacterial wipes to everyone to the point he felt ready for surgery! This is all to reduce the liklihood of getting ill. So NO, don't disinfect your cabin.

I would pack less, it will make your life easier. Here is a link to the packing list from AllEars.net: http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/TripPackingList.doc. It might give you some ideas! Have a safe drive and SEE YOU THERE! :cheer2:

We went on the 7 day on the Magic in March. Missed CC because of engine trouble so we re-booked for this cruise.

For two adults and two children, we ended up with 2 checked bags per person (kids were small bags). We packed way too much stuff. I down loaded a packing list and thought too much is better than too little. I was wrong. This time, we are packing toiletries and essentials as if we were going on an overnight trip but we are adding a couple more outfits. Things like binoculars are cool, especially when you see the dolphis beside the ship and such. Irons, hair dryers and such are in my opinion a waste. This is a cruise. Some wrinkles are to be expected and there is a hair dryer in the bathroom. In lieu of an iron, you can use wrinkle spray which works great. Remember, less is better, especially since you take several days to pack for the trip and only get a couple of hours to pack for the return home trip!

For all of the coffee drinkers, The Magic did not  have gourmet coffee, not even for sale. The coffee served for breakfast was not real good either. One way to get your fix is to go to the bar/lounge beside the adult pool and order a double espresso in one of the tall cups used for Lattes, then have them fill it up with hot water. This makes for a wonderful coffee. Yes, they make Lattes, but no Coffee here! I asked why they don't sell coffee and could not get a reasonable answer....Go figure.

My dd and I have both been fighting a sore throat/fever/congestion for a week now. Not completely well but definitely on the tail end. Just hoping my ds doesn't come down with it now.... Anyway, I started getting some stuff together today too. Going to try really hard not to overpack. However, I am going to bring a hairdryer. Have heard those on the boat aren't that great. If anyone has used them and disagrees, let me know. We are leaving Thursday and spending a couple of days at the parks first. Twinmommyks what day are you leaving? We are flying out of KC too.

DS woke up sick this morning!:sad1: We are waiting for the Dr. office to open and hoping that we can get some medicine so he will be better before Saturday when we leave.

Good grief, what is it with all the sickness going around? My dd woke up sick this morning. My ds and hubby had a cold last week, but were all better this weekend. Stress at end of the year stuff? May is always crazy with all the final school activities - plays, recitals, awards ceremonies, class parties, graduations, etc. We had a huge 8th grade graduation party here at the house Friday night with a bunch of girls staying and sleeping over. I bet she got something from one of them, plus the lack of sleep, her resistance got down. I talked to her about the risk of having the party and I was right. I am keeping my fingers crossed she will be better and we won't all get it, or if we do, we get it now so it will be gone by the weekend.

It looks like those from Alaska have the farthest to travel. We are flying from AZ - direct and staying the night at the MCO Hyatt. For those of you driving, and more than a few hours, I give you a thumbs up for being so brave to do it with kids. I am a wimp. Anything over a day's drive, I buy a plane ticket.

Regarding packing, I am limiting it all. We have a week at WDW after the cruise and need space for all the tees and shorts and tennis shoes for that part of the trip. Each of us gets one suitcase and one small carryon backpack. I also heard the blowdryers onboard are strange and not very good, so we are bringing one. Regarding the irons, a big no-no from what I have heard on the boards. Risk of fire on ship and where do we all go if there is a fire? Overboard. There are irons in the laundry, plus a lot of people send their clothes out for ironing. I read a thread here on disboards that it takes 24 hours and it costs half the cost of the cleaning fee. I am gonna go to my local drycleaners and purchase some plastic dry cleaning bags to pack our dinner clothing in. One outfit per bag, then hang them up as soon as I can. It always works for me when we travel. Not worried about the shorts and other stuff we wear during the day. It is a cruise - I'm gonna relax, not worry about wrinkles.

tkmontg - I am also thinking about bringing the binoculars, but don't want to lug them around all day long in the event we "might" get to see something. Decisions, decisions.

So sorry about your son! I hope it's something simple -- like a 24-hour thing. Let us know.

We are leaving Wednesday and will be at AKL until we leave Sunday -- MY BIRTHDAY -- for the ship.

I am dressing like a wench -- the red wig I got looks terrible on me, not my color, but it amuses my son. My son will wear dark shorts, t-shirt, and the Jack Swallow bandana, braids, an eyepatch and an earring. He'll also wear a parrot on his shoulder if we can figure out how to attach it!

So, how are we going to identify ourselves as Disboarders??? I don't have a lime green mouse or anything. My H does have a lime green polo shirt. I'll get him to wear it the first day. Anyone else have something lime green to wear?

Safe travels everyone and good health! :goodvibes

We are flying out on Friday at 6:10 p.m. on SW. When are you leaving?

My brain is fried! I lost my packing list last week and now I'm wracking my brain trying to remember everything!:scared1:

We will be the family of four dressed in matching tie dye shirts! If you spot us, please come over and say hello--We are looking forward to meeting everyone!:goodvibes

My DB woke up sick this morning as well and is currently at the dr. Hopefully he'll be ok by Thursday when we leave.

Looks like we need bunches of get well pixies for everyone who is sick pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: and bunches to keep everyone else healthy pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:.

After a trip to the Dr office this morning looks like DS is going to be ok for the trip this weekend. Dr gave us 2 prescriptions and said that he should be better by Friday!:) :)

Dd is already better and arguing with her brother. Hoping she can make it to school tomorrow. She missed her math final today and will have to make it up. School is out Wedesday. If she doesn't take it, she can't graduate Wed night! But now ds feels hot and looks flushed. Sigh.

Hello all! As Drama Queen said in an earlier post her DB was at the DR. this AM-he has STREP!!! My DH leaves in the morning at 4AM to go to Vegas on business for a few days-so I am stuck with ALL packing for 5 people and a sick one!! My house looks like a BOMB went off!!! Plus, I get to drive 8 hrs by myself to Tampa on Thurs.-hubby will meet us there on Friday! Lucky him!!! Nice thing about DS being sick-I get to take sick days and can pack while he is sleeping! I guess thats a positive!! Just hoping and praying that the other two "darlings" don't come down with it!!

Someone mentioned "lime green"-so we would recognize each other-does everyone have a Home Depot? Can everyone get by there between now and Sunday and pick up a mickey paint swatch?!?!!! Then we could wear those and recognize each other?!!! I have never been on the boat before-anyone know a good spot to meet on first day for just a few moments???
