Disney Wonder March 20th 2011 sailing

We have a Palo reservation for brunch on Monday, but I could only get it for 4 people and I need it for 5, so I will be standing in line to try to change it after we board, YIKES!

We are doing all of our excursions on our own.

Puerta Vallarta - my husband's father lives in a village around there and we will be spending the day with him and his wife. I'm keep my comments about this to myself.

Mazatlan - I'm one of those going to Stone Island. All I've read several reviews and it sounds so much fun and a relaxing day as well.

Cabo - Looking at snorkeling. We love to snorkel.

Anyone ever do bingo on the ship? My dh is thinking of doing it. I've read that it's expensive. When you buy the cards, does it include all the bingo sessions or just one?

Was everyone able to get the reservations they wanted for Palo/excursions/spa?

We are doing Palo brunch on Tuesday. We're skipping dinner there this time around since we've never been on a Disney Cruise, want to experience all of the dining room rotations.

We're going on excursions in every port. Hubby and I went on a MR cruise in 2007 and we want to share some things with our kids that we know they will love:
PV: Going on the zip line. It's with the same company we went with before and we had so much fun.
Mazatlan: Doing the Salsa and Salsa thing. We had friends who have done this and loved it, so we're going to try.
Cabo: The only thing my daughter Grace really wanted to do on this cruise was swim with dolphins, so that's what we're doing.

No spa here, just can't do those prices. Maybe they will have some deals on board or I'll win a spa certificate, LOL.

I have done the bingo and yes it can be expensive. They have some sessions that give you one free card. I think I bought a pack of 6 cards and it was like $20 or something like that. I really can't remember the exact price. I just kept thinking it was a rip off.

I am dying to hear the inlaw story. :rolleyes1

I booked everything I wanted. I'm doing Palo dinner on Monday & Palo brunch on Tuesday. I may cancel the dinner since I'm traveling with just my kids, I don't know if I'll feel awkward dining solo. For brunch, I'm fine dining by myself since it's more casual.

I booked a Spa Villa for Saturday, but I may cancel. Depends if I need more relaxation by the end of the cruise .

For Puerto Vallarta were doing the Resort Beach Day. Cabo we're doing the Harbor Cruise and Scenic Stop. And for Mazatlan we're either going to Stone Island or staying on the ship. I know the excursions through DCL are a little pricey, but since I'm traveling solo with 3 kids, I wanted the peace of mind of doing them through Disney.

I've never done Bingo on the ship and also ready it was a little pricey, but I've also read it can be very entertaining. We're going to try out a couple games and see how it goes, but probably won't spend too much time doing Bingo.

Just another reminder that we do have the Secret Mickey going. Sign-ups will be accepted through February 20th and the next day I will be sending out assignments.

Here's the rules:
3 gifts (including the final gift) through the cruise left in the stateroom via the stateroom attendant
Final gift is given at the reveal where All SMs will meet. (will be scheduled for the final day of the cruise)
Cost: $15-20 Total for all 3 gifts

If you are interested in the Secret Mickey exchange, PM me your name, stateroom, likes, dislikes, interests, favorite character(s) and any other info your SM might find helpful.

Why do my in-law's dislike me? That's a long story.

I guess I should get some work done before my boss wonders what's happened to me. Good thing I work from home!

Our TA booked Gary and I for Brunch on Monday, I think we'll try to change to Tuesday. We have dinner reservations for Saturday night.

Gary and Andre will do the Signiture Dolphin Swim in Puerto Vallarta and I'll be watching and taking lots of pictures. I think that's the only excursion for us. Just do our own thing in Mazatlan and Cabo.

Right now no spa ressies, they're all pretty spendy. Maybe there will a good special to book on board.

As far as specials, there were a couple on boarding day last time....there's one where you can get an unlimited pass into the "rainforest" in the spa. It's an amazing room with heated tile lounge chairs that you can relax and unwind on..... also there's the steam rooms in there so it's the perfect place to get away.....

I think it was like $150 per couple unlimited use...

Cyndi, really it's going to work out just fine. The secret Mickey will be perfect for us. So, it's all good.

I think the excursions are so expensive, my goodness. Especially the resort excursions. I just did a little digging and those can be done for so much less money.

I have to admit though that reading the government webite is a little unnerving. They have all of these warnings - don't carry a purse, wear jewlery, and watch what kind of cab company you use, etc. The cities on alert are mostly by the border, but it looks like Mazatlan has some issues going on.

Being in San Diego, me and my husband and most of our friends really watch out what's going on down there.....personally, we haven't been across the border in a while. I agree that most of the unrest is in the border towns, but even more specific than that, they're in the TEXAS border towns, such as Juarez. Also, if you know where to go, and stick to tourist sections, you should be good. All of our friends who live in SD have family in MX. They cross the border and visit the border cities weekly, so I also must say that the media tends to make it a little more hyped up than necessary.....

Vegaslover has the right idea about checking out the government page, so kudos to you.

But remember, if tourists are coming to US, they get hesitant because of your heightened security and terrorist threats as well. It's great to be cautious, but if I felt like me or my family was in danger, I would not be going.... and I tend to think that Disney did their research before deciding to bring the Wonder all the way over here for a year. Just my opinion...

Puerto Vallarta.... Hahaha... you're funny!

Bingo - yes, it's pricey IMO..... It's per game, and the buy in that we paid was $75 for like 8 cards I think. I agree it's fun, but It's just like Vegas to me..... you know you're spending money on something that you're not really getting anything in return for (unless you win of course, and then I'd be singing a different tune).... but I did budget it in for this time around, just in case we get the itch.... It's a great break, and we met alot of people during and that's always fun...

There was a drawing on the first day for a certificate last time!

$15-$20 per gift??

I gamble at the Casino Queen frequently. It's in East St. Louis - yikes! :scared1:

But, I have never had any issues there because I stick to the Casino. I will use the same strategy for Mexico. :thumbsup2

The Secret Mickey is $15-20 TOTAL for all three gifts. Unless you have me and I think you should spend $15-20 per gift:rotfl2:

What time is everyone planning on boarding??

I can't remember what time we arrived at the port in Port Canaveral last year, but I think it was like 11:00-11:30....

what time are you all arriving?/

We'll head over probably as soon as the shuttle will take us, 10-1030. No sense sitting around in a hotel room getting antsy, I'd rather sit around at the port feeling antsy!

I almost forgot.... don't forget to bring water bottles. They are $35 for a case thru Disney, VS $3.79 at Wal-Mart!! Quite a difference....:scared1::scared1:
