Disney with a side of... Fay!

This storm is writing its own rules and delivering them via teleprompter (we only get to see a few lines at a time). Orange & Osceola Counties have rain with wind so far topping out at 39 mph, but could double closer to the storm. Rain-wrapped tornado warnings have been a bit worrisome -- in this weather a rain-wrapped tornado can not be seen until it is right on top of you. Central Florida so far has had more tornado damage then anything else.

Storm now expected to hug the coast the hook left across the panhandle as we approach the weekend.

Five day forecast is rain, rain, rain, rain, rain as more gulf moisture streams north.

For those of us here on the East Coast of FL, it's a major problem.

Here in Melbourne, it started raining about 24 hours ago and hasn't stopped since. So far we've had 10-12 inches of rain. Streets are flooded. Authorities are saying that if you don't HAVE to be out, don't go out. Some areas are under a "boil water" advisory. Retention ponds are full and have begun to overflow. My pool was full by 8:00 this AM.

We've had intermittent tornado warings/watches since yesterday afternoon.

I'm using my shop-vac to vaccum up the water that's coming in under the doors, by the windows, along the baseboards, etc.

The wind was never bad--gusts of 50 MPH or so and sustained winds of 30-35 mph.

Fay is just a VERY slow moving storm and we're hit hard by the rain.

Wish you were here???????

*waves hi from Port Canaveral*

we're here :)

Next is a 3 hour bus ride to Ft Lauderdale to look forward to, tomorrow.. hahaha :)

We had to change all of our plans due to the storm. Our flight from Boston to our Home in Port Charlotte for Tuesday was canceled on Monday afternoon. The next available flight was for tomorrow(Thursday) so we re-booked to Thursday. Now this is where DVC comes in. We had planned to spend 5 days at our home in Port Charlotte (flying into Fort Myers) then 3 days at SSR and fly back to Boston from Orlando. But we didn't want our time at our home shortened by 2 days so we asked DVC if we could change our stay from Sun-Wed to Tue-Fri and they could. Then we had to convince our airline to change our flight home from Wed. to Fri without any extra charge and they did that as well. After changing the rental car what we have done is just bump our entire trip forward 2 days. It was way more work than I just described though. Hope the new plans all work out.

Been there, done that. Thanks anyway :) TS Allison came to Houston and reeked far more damage and havoc than any hurricane we ever had. We ended up with 20 something inches. That was 2001. Been watching out for you guys all day today. Worried about Vero and everybody safe. We were there in May for our daughter's wedding (beautiful BTW) Bet the water is gushing into those garages
Take care and will be checking on yall....

Anybody in the parks currently? Is WDW closed? Has Disney made any formal announcements concerning the storm?

We're here now. The parks are NOT closed. The only announcements that we've received is that the park is operating on a normal schedule. If the weather worsens, then I'm sure they will make any necessary adjustments.

On a sidenote, we ran into a family yesterday who the mother works at Disney. It was her day off and the her kids didn't have school (all the schools are closed) so they decided to go the MK figuring that it wouldn't be very crowded. They were right. We didn't wait more than 10 minutes to get on anything. She told us that they would close the parks if there were 35 mph sustained winds. Other than that, they would be open.

We are here too - at BCV - it hasn't been nearly as bad as we feared a couple of days ago! We even went swimming - in the rain - at SAB! We figured we were wet - why not! We spent five hours at Epcot this morning and lines were so so - we did the fast pass thing and it the waits were fine. We even got to ride Test Track during a minor down pour - let me tell you - there is NOTHING like that! It puts the ride in a whole new category!

For the most part everyone has been very good natured about the whole thing - everyone is just wet. Lots of ponchos and umbrellas - but hey - its WDW - if I'm going to be outside in the rain - there is no place I'd rather be!!!

I do want to add that we've been really impressed with the BCV and the communication re: Fay. We've had a couple of voice mails on our phone just stating that they are watching the storm, etc. etc. - but I appreciated the fact that they let us know that they weren't just wishing it away!

We leave for home on Friday and its probably going to keep on raining until then - but we'll just get those ponchos out and trek on - because it is still just so so much fun!

Gotta love the attitude of the Disney faithful!! Hope this thing dissapates soon!

no changes at the moment. we are driving down from VA on 8/22 hoping to check in late that night. only worried about any remnants of bad weather as we go down i-95. Of course wishing that the hurricane dissolves and makes no damages. however, if it is not to dissolve that it stays a car 1 remains on its current timeline and it is not delayed so that all is clear by Friday / Saturday.

We'll be down there the same time as you, and staying at All Star Sports too. We're flying down on Saturday - I'm hoping by then Fay will have moved on...

She is supposed to be out of Florida by the weekend, then she may be coming here to Louisiana :scared:

Home now, but we moved our SW flight on Tuesday from 6PM to 11:30 AM, good thing because 12:45PM was the last SW Philly flight out. We did get notice that all parks were opening at 8AM on Tuesday while we were there.

How many of you are having to change your plans due to hurricane fay?

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, I didn't look through all the posts, however, Fay wasn't/isn't a hurricane. She is/was a tropical depression and tropical storm.
