Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question. Just wondering if there are any other people that use their Disney Visa card just for the rewards? What I do is use the card for almost every regular daily purchase, then pay it off immediately. I don't like to have credit card debt, so I literally pay it online daily. I know, a bit OCD.

I've never bothered looking into it, but reward points are earned no matter what you purchase and no matter how fast you pay the bill, correct?

Yes, I pay off all of my credit cards by the due date, so they never accrue interest (in other words: debt). Rewards (for any card, not just Disney) are based on the charges you make to the card, not when you pay it off. You also do not earn rewards based on fees or interest, only on purchases.

Yes, I do the same thing. I only pay it off monthly though (not daily). I have amassed a great deal of points (free Disney money)! This year I am going to use the points to pay for all of my food at Disney (my version of the free dining plan) :goodvibes

Yes, reward points are earned on purchases even if you pay off the balance every month (or every week or every day for that matter).

It accumulates very slow. I must not be spending enough. I've had the card since October and only have $44 in reward dollars.:scratchin

I treat all of our credit cards like this -- Everything goes on them, but then I pay them all off each month.

If you have the regular card you get $1 in rewards for every $100 you spend.

If you are using the card for everything you spend for 3-4 months and have gathered $44 in reward dollars, I commend you on your frugality.

I just requested a Rewards Redemption card for $1500. That is for purchases since the last time we redeemed a card in 4/11. There are times when they offer 2% or 3% on certain items. We pay everything we can on credit cards and pay them off monthly. (I barely get my teeth brushed three times a day, let alone pay the card off daily - but I might have done that 15 years ago!)

We also play lots of credit card "games."
I just got an American Express Premier Rewards card that I had to spend $1000 in three months to get a $500 gift card. Late last year my DH had a different American Express card that got him $250 for $500 worth of purchases in 3 month period and another Bank of America promotion that was similar.

There isn't a simpler bit of personal finance advice than to pay off your credit cards every month.

Yep, my DG uses my card to earn the Disney points and I uses Bank of America card to do the same and redeem it for gift cards that we use to buy Disney gift cards. Pay both off twice a month.

We do this with a pair of Southwest cards...

And haven't paid for a flight in about three years!

I've found the return on the Disney Visa not that great for my family.

Although we charge quite a bit, we also travel. I've found we get bigger bang for our buck through the Marriott rewards. It is 10points/ dollar spent on Marriott property but I will be checking the Disney rewards website.

With $1/$100 spent it isn't a great deal but maybe I'll check the website and see if there is a promotion for a better percentage.

With the Disney Premier Visa, the initial return is very good and it does accumulate rewards faster than the regular Disney Visa. If you charge $500 in the first three months, Chase will send you $200 in Disney Reward $$. It does have an Annual Fee of $49 but that's offset by the reward incentive. You can always cancel the card before the year is up.

For a 5% Disney savings, I use the Target Red Card for all my Disney Gift Card purchases. Target gives an automatic 5% off of every transaction.

Until November, the Disney Premier Visa was the only credit card we had. We got the Target RedCard to buy Disney gift cards and save on other purchases made there. The Disney cards do not provide the greatest rewards, but there is no limits as far as "category of the month". It is year-round 2% rewards on gas, grocery, Disney purchases, and restaurants. We like the fact that our rewards need to be used for Disney, because if it was a cash back card, we would likely spend that money on practical things instead of fun stuff. :goodvibes We always pay it off in full, so we've never paid a penny in interest. We have a house rule that if we forget to pay it off in time, we cut it up and close the account.

I also use the card for everything except rent and utilities that charge extra for using a credit card to pay the bill. I try to pay it off once a week. Only problem is I keep forgetting to switch to my other rewards card near the disney's statement date. Seems lately some of my purchases are posting the same day as the statement so I get charged the interest. Im getting better at remembering though. Its a work in process.

We use ours for EVERYTHING. We got $300 for the first use and then upgraded to premiere. We had over $2700 banked for this trip!

I, too, have the premier card and use it for everything. I pay it off every month so have never spent a dime on interest. My husband refuses to get one, but has an AMEX and MC which give us rewards toward travel (flights, etc.). Between the three cards, I have saved substantially on travel. Our entire honeymoon (flight, hotel and rental car) was paid for using AMEX rewards points my DH didn't know he had - he had racked up THOUSANDS of them and never bothered to look. Guess that's what he married me for! :lovestruc

For our upcoming trip in Feb., between the 3 cards, our flights were free and I got one free night at BWI-CL. I've also used the rewards card for all of our dining on a previous trip. I love it! Plus, whenever I pull out my card and see Cinderella's castle, it makes me so happy!

We've been using our Disney Visa for almost 2 years and we get 2% back on groceries, gasoline and restaurants. Everything else is 1%. Since my husband and I both work and travel over 40 miles one way to work, we use a lot of gas. The rewards can accumulate quickly. In just 9 months we almost have $300 in rewards. That's free money as far as I'm concerned.
