Disney Vacay with the Love Bugs (New 6/23 update ~ Chef Mickeys)

Great update!!
I've never thought about venturing over to TSI, but it looks like it might be fun! And you've pretty much convinced me that we'll have to eat one of our meals at CHH! :thumbsup2 Everyone on the Boards talks about how great the food is and how peaceful it is upstairs, we'll definitely plan on checking it out!

And I'm sorry, but I would've :scared1: at that CM! And then maybe politely said "So, will you or your manager be buying me a new beverage?" Not really, but I still would've been a little ticked, especially since it was so hot!

Can't wait to read about the rest of your day!

I've missed Tom Sawyer's Island on my last few trips, so I'll have to get there this summer! I want to find a paintbrush!

Glad you guys (Especially Brad and Levi...LOL) had fun!

I can't wait to try CHH this summer, I've never been there! Definitely want to be a good DIS-er and grab a nice table upstairs! :thumbsup2

That is so weird about the CM throwing your drink away...maybe she was having a rough day...? :confused3:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE CHH!!!!! We ate there in March :) I can't believe that about the cup..but then again I can since it's policy no drinks on the rides unless they have a cap haha. I guess it when with the "show" right?!

My husband loves that Fort too! On our drive home last summer we were passing the time by writing in my journal all of our 'favorites.' We got so bored we even got down to 'favorite bathroom,' and he picked the one in the fort because it was 'private.' :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Oh, and I  that CHH salad. My mom, sisters and I all got it on our Keys to the Kingdom Tour 2 years ago and it was YUM!

It looks like you had a fun time on Tom Sawyer's Island!!! Whenever we've gone it is always so calm and quiet over there...a nice little getaway.

I've never eaten at CHH... it looks like a nice little spot!!!

How odd about your drink...maybe she was staying in character? You know how they are all straight faced and super serious? :confused3 Weird....

Tom Sawyer's Island looks like a lot of fun, this is one spot of WDW I've never been to and would be curious how it compares to the Disneyland one which we always find fun.

Your lunch at CHH looks really good, especially the salad.

Lol I would have been shocked at the cm chucking your drink out, but as you said there wouldn't be much to do but laugh:goodvibes

Now you have me curious. You will have to visit TSI at WDW & let us know which one is more fun.

The CHH lunch was really good!

This time of the year is rough. i'm feeling sad too because i do NOT want to leave high school :( It's so sad. Changes are hard sometimes. Growing up is too complicated.

But aww I'm glad you guys enjoyed Tom Sawyer Island. I really want to try Columbia Harbor houe one day too! It looks yummy popcorn::

And, it looks like you've had such a great HS experience & have such great friends! I bet your parents are so proud of you
And, yes, growing up is complicated  But, I will say, I've loved my adult years 100x more than my HS years!

You need to try TSI at least once.
We went to CHH because of everyone talking about it being a great QSM to eat at. And, they were right!

I did not know anything about the paintbrush until I just recently read about it on someone's TR.
I now want a paintbrush too

Maybe the HM CM liked the look of stunned faces when she threw drinks away, I know mine was!

I'm glad I read about CHH on the boards. It was a great choice to eat at! I should've known better than to bring a drink on a ride. But, now you have me wondering if I did have a lid on it. Or, are lids different than caps? :confused3

I didn't even try the bathroom, but that's good info to know for next time! :rotfl:

TSI was a nice resting spot for Brad & I.
She might have been in character, never thought of it that way. ;)

Tom Sawyer's Island looks like fun. We have never gone over, but I am sure the kids would really like it. Yum on the CHH. I guess the cm at HM was just playing the part and thought throwing your drink out would be funny- shocking though.

Never made it to Tom Sawyers island but looking at your pictures made me feel like I should check it out. :) And thanks for those pictures of CHH. Everything looks VERY yummy! :)

I do not think the CM would have gotten away with throwing away your drink if he was not working at HM. Maybe she thought it was somehow part of her gig.

Q

Mmmmmm.. We love CHH! :thumbsup2

That is pretty wild about the drink being thrown away. Awesome that you just laughed it off. I could see lots of others having a fit over it! I really can't believe that she did that!

We have never been to Tom Sawyer Island (or the Swiss Family Treehouse) and I actually have no desire to go there. I enjoy seeing everyone's pics here on the DIS, but it still just doesn't appeal to me. :confused3

We do love CHH...never been disappointed with a meal there.

I can't believe your kids are almost done with school. Madison's last day is June 21st! We don't start school until after Labor Day though. We still have 16 days of school (not counting today).

Can't believe you're writing about your last day:sad1: I also understand your feelings of the kiddies leaving elementary school. We moved the year Jasmine was going into grade 6 and it seemed like I no sooner dropped her off at her new school that we were leaving for her graduation! I still get weepy thinking about it but I love how involved you are with your kids....that's the best!

Loved your pics of Tom Sawyer Island...and I love the pictures you took from CHH...it really is a great restaurant!

I totally laughed out loud about the part where the CM offered to hold your drink and then promptly threw it away. That really amuses me. I can just picture how shocked you would be. I guess it's a normal assumption that if somebody offers to hold your drink for you, then it will be "HELD" and not "PITCHED" until you come out of HM. *giggle* Guess not. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I don't think TSI would be a 'do' on every trip, but it was nice seeing it all.

The drink thing cracked me up, it may have been part of her gig, who knows.

CHH was a great QSM to choose to eat. I would have never tried it if it had not been for the dis. I wrote down the top Quick Service meals at MK & that's what we went by. I look forward to trying others in the future that we have not been to.

We went to the Swiss Family Treehouse once. That was such a waste of our time. I think your little boy would enjoy TSI in a few years.
Yes, we start back to school way before ya'll do. I remember when we were back at school & reading about everyone else on the Dis still on Summer Break! It was so depressing. :) I love summer spending time with the kids.
We only go to school 3 days this week: Tu, Wed, Thur from 8:00-12:00 & we're out for summer break!

It is sad that I'm writing about our last day & it's about time too. It seems like everyone that I started this with is now writing about 2nd, 3rd or 4th trip since then!

You are right about that time flies by so fast. We love being involved in everything with the kids.

I know! I was looking to see where she was taking my drink so I would know where to go when I got off & I did have a pretty stunned look on my face when I saw it was the trash can!!!

We went to POTC. I’ve always seen this cute photo-op on other TR’s & I was glad we were able to get one of these pictures.pirate:

The most we saw of this show was walking by it. Maybe one day we’ll take time to stop & watch.

We rode SM again. You can see there was no wait

WDW2010148.jpg

This was one my most fun rides of the week. I was in a car with 2 crazy teenage boys. They informed me that they like to scream like girls during the whole ride & they wanted to go ahead & apoligize ahead of time. They wanted a crazy picture & wanted us all to give our best Gene Simmons impersonation when our picture was being made. They knew where the camera was located so I was able to learn that on this ride. I was so into talking to them that I forgot to pull my bar down & the CM had to remind me to pull it down. I had the best ride with them & I did give my best Gene Simmons impersonation. I think teenagers keep you young.

Our picture was pretty cool. A CM was standing there & I chickened out from taking a picture of the picture with my camera. Now I wish I went ahead & took it.

There was another funny picture on the screen of 3 boys with the bottom of their shirts pulled up over their head. It made me wonder if there is a screening of photos, like a 5 second delay, before they post up pictures to make sure there are no wardrobe malfunctions in photos. :rolleyes1

We rode my favorite ride again, the People Mover

Brad bought a ice-cream with his snack credit & we went to the Carrousel of Progress. I had never heard of this ride & did not know what it was. Brad couldn’t go with his ice-cream, so he said he would wait on us.

Buzz Lightyear was beside CoP with a V E R Y L O N G line. I told Brad to stand in the line & wait for us to come out & then Levi could get in line with him to have his picture made with Buzz.

The Carrousel of Progress had a very neat history in that it was created for the 1964 World’s Fair. I enjoyed it. We had no idea that the ride would take so long & Brad kept texting me asking why we were still in there. When it was over, Buzz had long been gone.

But, when I received our Photopass pictures, Lexi, Levi & I had a surprise to look at. Brad had his picture made with Buzz while we were in Carrousel of Progress.

Lexi & Levi left their autograph book at our resort and Lexi wanted hers for our dinner reservation at Chef Mickeys. I decided to go back to CBR & get the autograph book. I think my brain was fried from exhaustion for doing this. I should have just made her do w/out. The bus ride took no time to get to our resort, but FOREVER to get back. In the meantime, my cell went dead. I had no idea how I was going to find my family when I made it back to MK.

As soon as I walked into the main street square, Lexi & Levi came running to me. The only thing they had done while I was gone was ride the railroad. Brad said the kids were too worried that they would not be able to find me & wanted to wait at the entrance for me.

It was time to go to Chef Mickeys, but not before more photopass pictures!

This picture is my top favorite from the trip & we used it on our Christmas card.

Photo0348FourBySix.jpg

This picture I’m posting because I think it is the corniest picture that we had made. I think is just goofy looking how the photographer posed Brad & I together and had us gazing at Lexi & Levi.

We’re now ready for Chef Mickey’s! ::MickeyMo

Next Post: HERE

Great update Amy! :goodvibes

That is so cool that Brad got his picture taken with Buzz! I don't think my DH would have done that!!

Looks like a great day at MK! I can't wait to hear about your Chef Mickey's experience. We always love it there, but we decided to take a break from it on our last trip. We are going back this year!

I liked that last picture. You look like a loving couple :goodvibes You're not missing much from that stage show in front of the castle. It's kinda corny  Too funny how your DH got a pic by himself with Buzz!

Another great update!!

I can't think if I've ever been on the People Mover... may have to check that one out.

And the fall decorations are sooooo cute! I really hope to visit then some day!

Gotta love the cheesy photos! Too cute!

I love the character photos – where do they take place?

Great castle shots – don’t you just hate the crane getting in the way?!

Lol at riding Space Mountain with the teenaged boys – sounds like you had fun! Will have to remember to try and make some funny faces!

Yay on DH posing with Buzz – how cool! :cool1:

Great PP pics – love the Christmas card choice and I do not think the family shot is corny at all. It just captures you as proud parents :goodvibes
