Disney TV at Sears for $29! Better Hurry

when a business honored what the published

Exactly...if you go into a supermarket, or Target, Walmart, etc...and you see a sale price, and it rings up differently, you can show them the sale price and they give it to you for that price, heck Acme even gives it to you free up to XX amount of dollars. They don't say oh I am sorry your credit card was declined...or oh I am sorry that one is not for sale and neither are the other 30 that are on the sales floor...come on now...

Oh I am sorry I still cannot find in there where it says "Sears has a right to lie to their customers and tell them their CC's are declined if a pricing error occurs. Or Sears reserves the right to tell customers that an item is out of stock even though it really isn't if a pricing error occurs." Can you show me where it says that???????

Love it!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have no problem with the fact that an error was made... My problem lies with the fact that they could not get it corrected... If on the very first day, some people slipped by & got to bring a TV home, OK... My problem is that even AFTER we were told a zillion times that they were NOT honoring this price. People were taking thier printouts to the store & picking it up. Do they have no way of communicating with their staff??? Very poor service.

people need to relax.

if you got one good for you. if not, come on, what did you lose, really?

dont go back to sears if it makes you feel better, its your right. they should have handled it better, i agree, but is it worth all this over a $29 TV?

Whoa, nelly! lol Don't shoot the messenger.

Like I keep stating this has happened a lot, especially with online pricing errors. I have been chasing deals since 1998 with freebies from Drugstore.com and others way back when compliments of the dealhunters at mycoupons.com who used to post about them left and right. Free Reebok shoes, free toiletries, free food, free shavers.... oh the good old days. :smooth: I am not new to dealhunting that's for sure.

The Terms and Conditions absolves them, though....Sears reserves the right to change its payment procedures at any time without prior notice to you. Their entire Terms and Conditions are set up to protect and benefit them. That is the way the internet businesses conduct business now. I would have liked to see Sears honor their price, but instead they now have unhappy customers.

Don't take it up with me - please take it up with the BBB, Attorney General, and complain to Sears. I guess I should have heavily encouraged everyone to do that, but I am just tired of chasing those kinds of deals now. :badpc:

I was on another board and I saw people are getting price matched without problems from Circuit City, my local CC is out of stock so right now I am trying Best Buy. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Ooooo ! Smart Move... :cool1:

Circuit City Matches, as well as Best Buy, Meijers, Wal-Mart, Target!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sorry, didn't mean to make it seem like I was aggatated with you, totally not the case(no hard feelings I hope :goodvibes ), I understand about disclaimers, but changing payment procedures does not give Sears the right to lie to a customer and tell them their credit card was declined. Very Poor customer service. They should have posteed on their website about THEIR error and apologized, not make the customer feel like it was their mistake. And believe me I did send my complaint to BBB.

I just did all 3 of those things! Won't do any good but it made me feel better.

I think that people are getting crazy over what is obviously an example of: "If seems to be too good to be true, it probably isn't!" Everytime mistakes like this happen, there are innocent folks who had no idea it was an error and there are the others who take advantage. Face it , there are posts from both types in this thread. If you bought one and got it, be glad. If you weren't as lucky, move on. If you owned the company and your mistake was going to cost $100.00 per unit at retail(no one has the true number on wholesale cost or markup on these items or TOTAL number ordered), how many could you afford to sell before you felt people were taking advantage. There is a poster here who ordered 7 of these, how many people purchase 7 tvs at a time? Yes it was a great bargain for those that received them, but the seller is well protected by disclaimers. The consumers stating that they will never shop at Sears again are exactly the type of "customers" that they do not need. The threat to sue and complain to all who will listen is moot. The error was caught and the seller has exercised the right to enforce the disclaimer. If you read the disclaimer in grocery stores, the max price where the item will be free if priced incorrectly is $2.00 - limit one of the item. Perhaps with all of the disasters taking place in the world, a pricing error by Sears should have less meaning.

In Michigan you get 10x the difference of the error up to $5 but that isnt the point here.

Why are so many not 'getting' this? Its not the error itself that people are upset with..its the way it was handled.

And believe you me there is a HUGE markup on electronics

But you posted here with your words of wisdom so she replied to you. If you don't want replies then don't post.

I think people are missing the REAL reason most people are upset. Sears made a "mistake" no problem there, everyone makes mistakes, but it took them 4 days to remove the mistake from their website. There were periods were you could order then couldn't then could again. They should have removed it immediately. The second thing people are mad about is the fact that Sears lied. They told people their CC's were declined even though they had plenty of money to pay for their purchases. When people started going to the stores with their print-outs Sears then lied again and said they were out of stock. It is the customer service most people are mad at, not the "mistake", so their disclaimer means nothing in our eyes.

EXACTLY!

please read all the posts before you comment about how sears was right, etc. there is always more to the story..

I placed my order on 10-9 in the afternoon and they just charged my credit card now. My order says processed and it will be ready to pickup on Friday.

I guess I will just wait to see if it gets cancelled.

First of all when I ordered 2 on Sat morining I had absolutely no idea that this was a pricing error. We were getting the kids t.v.s for Christmas so naturally I jumped all over this. I got my order confirmation for the 13th of Oct. I was off today so I went over to Sears to see if they were in yet. Now keep in my mind, I haven't checked this thread all weekend and had no idea about all the problems. When I got to Sears they had only one in stock which they gave me, but this is the big kicker, they let me have a Princess one for the same price! :Pinkbounc I guess it depends on who you deal with.

I also placed my order Sunday in the early afternoon and I just got my cancellation email a little while ago. Before that though their website said Proccessed...no email about pick up.

They haven't charged my CC but I do have pending charges...

Their cancellation email said they credited my credit card $31.47 but maybe that just means they will not charge or hold the amount since it really hasn't been charged yet.

Glad for all of you who were lucky enough to get such a cute TV at such a great price. Good luck to all of you who are upset and have filed complaints for their handling of this 'error'. Poor, poor customer service, IMHO. I'm sure they've lost quite a bit of business/customers with their handing of this.

i want one sooo bad and could not find it for that price..totally bummed.

I haven't read the entire thread. This post is probably directed to more than just annie.
You knew it was a pricing error and you knew your order probably wouldn't be honored. The fact that Sears didn't cancel the order quick enough really isn't grounds to complain.

Lewisc,

Yes, I'm sure some people did try and jump on the bandwagon and order the TV after we all found out from this site that it was a pricing error, but as for me, I ordered early Sat am, before this all came out. I too assumed that it was a markdown item, it never even occured to me that it was a mis- marked item. The problem with this that I am having is that it took them until late Monday afternoon to get the problem fixed, there is no excuse for that. And on top of that, people were somehow able to continue to order and pick them up. So that also makes it wrong. You either fix it or honor it for ALL who ordered.

I just received my cancellation email and promptly filed with the BBB. My complaint isnt so much the price error but the fact that they left it on their site for quite a while allowing orders to be placed while they were canceling some at the same time. That is just not good business. Some were able to get the TV and some werent and that isnt right either. They should have honored the orders placed since it was their mistake that they knew about and did nothing about.

I'm sure nothing will happen but at least it will go on their record

Hi ya'll
I just posted a new thread. The FTC is interested in hearing from anybody who had anything to do with the whole Sears mess. i told the guy I spoke to about the length of time the ad ran and also about the emails with the cancellations due to credit card "declines". See my post for more info.
