Disney Snob Does Cedar Point

Great pictures! My DD always chooses to ride the white rabbit on the carousel too.:goodvibes I remember going to CP when I was 6 and loved those midway games! They used to have this room called Fascination where you roll these balls to try to get 5 in a row or something. I was obsessed! I saved up quarters all year for that place. Sadly, they took it away to make room for a restaurant.

I'm liking the photos, but I'm not digging the large red font of the text...is very hard to read...normal size, black text is much easier to read. Thanks.

Glad you had a nice time.

We stay at Camp Sandusky.. its only a couple minutes up the back roads. Really reasonable. It has a pool. Nothing major but a nice place.

I was just at Cedar Point on the day before you OP.. We were there with school. We are heading back there tomorrow for my boys to run the 1st ever 5k on Sunday!

I compare everything to Disney. Now my husband compares everything to Cedar Point! Everyone in my family is a thrill seeker!! Lovin your TR.. Its great!:goodvibes Your daughter is beautiful!!

We used to go on school trips too. I compare everything to Disney now too.

Yes! I never played, but I know what you are talking about. It now had Johnny Rockets there.

Sorry. I don't use black for my TR's I use blue for Disney and a form of red for my non disney stuff. I only go up 1 size too, it's easier for me to read that way

While in line I took a shot of the needle/pencil…what ever you call it. I know there is a real name but we have always called it pencil or needle. LOL

LOL - It's the Space Spiral!

I caught the remaining part from your blog. Can't wait to read the rest here!

In advance - Olaf is one of Snoopy's brothers from the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm. He wasn't in the comic strip very often. He's roly poly and too cute! Only Spike, the scraggly one from the desert with the hat and whiskers was featured somewhat regularly.

Hey Jen! Your pictures just keep getting better and better! I admit that I was so enthralled with the photos that I haven't even read the story yet! :lmao: Going back now to read, but just had to tell you how great you did on the pictures. They are REALLY excellent. The colors in all of them just pop! So pretty!

Thanks for reading my blog. It's good to know that someone is. :rotfl: I kind of remember that about Olef now. Not exactly his name, but that Snoopy had brothers. I should've bought him, he was so darn fluffy and cute.

i love CP and your pictures!! Thank you for sharing them.

Thanks for reading along!

I took a few pictures of the area while Claire tried to figure out what to ride next.

We rode the jeeps next. I had to sit in the backseat…..and of course no picture taking.

Claire decided to do some space shooting.

While Claire was ridding the galaxy of Aliens, which by the way are Peanuts Character Aliens, so probably talk like this…...mwah mwah, mwah mwah mwah, mwah mwah ,mwah waaaaah! I took a few other shots.

Claires next choice was the Balloons.

The guy in the background looks like he is doing some kind of Praying Mantis move….LOL! I know he’s just putting his backpack on, but it looks kind of funny.

And while I waited, another angle of the Ferris Wheel and a few other random shots.

Claires ride was finishing up then.

We decided to head out of that area and take a look in the Snoopy Gift shop near by.

Thanks so MUCH for the TR.

We leave for Cedar Point in 7 days 12 hours & counting.....

This will be our first time there and I'm hoping that the long range weather forecast is not right and it doesn't rain. We're driving from Central New Jersey and my DDs can NOT wait to ride all the coasters, heck so am I and my DH :lmao:

Thanks so much for the hint about going the speed limit :thumbsup2

Wow - I used to go to CP every summer when I was growing up - it sure has changed! We did take the kids there a couple of years ago and had a lot of fun doing all the thrill rides.

Can't wait to read about the rest of your trip!

You'll have fun, especially if yo uare coaster lovers. never beleive the weather...LOL!...They aren't even right most of the time on the same day...let alone 7 days out.
Do watch your speed on the Ohio Turnpike!

It has change...I think we missed the last 2 summers and it had changed even from then.

When we got into the gift shop, Claire discovered the “fake” characters and wanted a picture with each.

They had every character as a plush. They were so cute. There was one I almost bought for myself. He was so cute…he looked like a chubby Snoopy, but I think his name was Olef? I do not remember him from Peanuts at all. I used to be a big Fan of Peanuts too. Snoopy and Winnie the Pooh were always my favorites as a kid. When a “special” would come on…yes I grew up before cable and cartons 24 hours a day, so we got our dose of this through “specials” a few times a year…I would be so excited and watch them. But I don’t remember Olef…..I’m assuming he is a cousin of Snoopy’s.

Here’s Peppermint Patty. And I don’t get the pink shirt? I’m pretty sure she always wears green.

We walked out the front door to the main thoroughfare and debated on going on the old fashion cars.. I wanted to, but Claire didn’t. I even told her she could drive, but she still said no. We called Skip and he was on his way to meet up with us, so we just waited a few minutes in the area for him.

They decided to ride the Matterhorn. The line was very long. I, of course went on to take pictures while I waited. Again, I wasn’t up for spinning in a circle.

I decided on a snack while they were in line. I got the Mini Donuts. I can’t remember the price, but it was not cheap and you got very few donuts. I ate half and saved the rest for Claire and Skip.

Claire and Skip finally make it on. I try top shoot a few pictures of them…and notice Skips finger. He’s such a FUNNY guy. He was trying to make it look like he was picking his nose. Yes! I married a very classy guy! He was trying to pretend like he didn’t see me too.

My choice was next…whether my family wanted to let me or not! LOL! They insisted on Wild Cat, but I insisted on Iron Dragon…I won!

Of course I took pictures while waiting in line.

I rode by myself and Claire and Skip rode together. Once we got going , I did worry a little. This was a bit faster than I remembered and I hoped that Claire would be OK with it.

I think I actually rode one car before them, so I got off and waited outside the area. I saw this guy. I have never seen him here before. I’m not sure if he is new…or if I am just not observant.

theorindragon2.jpg

They met up with me, and Claire did mention that is was too fast, but she did OK.
They headed off to Wild Cat…I don’t mind this ride, but my neck and back had been really bothering me lately, and that ride does a LOT of jerking, so I pass on it and went to the bathrooms. Let’s just say, they are not very “magical”. I think Cedar Point forgot to clean all the bathrooms before they opened this year. I never found a single “clean” one.
For that matter, it looks like much of the park was in need of paint or small repairs, and were not done either.

While Claire and Skip waited in a very slow line for the Wild Cat, I sat on a bench and took a few pictures.

traondepot.jpg

I got bored quickly and set off for a walk.

One thing that struck me weird …walking through Frontier land and seeing a PF Changs’s? (I think it was one, or some other Chinese food chain) They kind of lost the idea of sticking with the theming back there over the years.

I decided it was time for another snack…yes mostly what I did this day was eat! LOL!
I walked into the icecream store and the fudge store, but neither was really calling me. I spotted a cart outside selling those glazed roasted almonds and decided on those. They were good, but not great. They were kind of soft, and I like them a bit crunchier.
I ate about half, saving the rest for Skip and Claire. I walked back towards the Wild Cat to see if they were done yet.

milleniumforce.jpg

I found them still in line and they still had a ways to go. I handed over the nuts to them and they finished them off. After talking to them a bit, I went back over to a bench and took more pictures while I waited.

And we stopped for these…but Claire refused to get one.

Man I remember when that place with the fake Peanuts characters used to be the Berenstain Bears area! I loved that place so much as a kid.

Haven't been to Cedar Point in years and years! Not much of a thrill seeker though, so even though I lived 45 minutes away for 25 years I stopped going in high school! Glad to see that in reality much of it is exactly as I remember it :)

thanks so much for the report!!

My dh and ds9 LOVE thrill rides (dd11 and I not so much), but I think Cedar Point is going to have to go on our 'list'. DD and I have no problem shopping and snacking while waiting for the boys to do their thing!

thanks again - great pics, and your dd is adorable!

I remember the Bears too. I think most of it was still there the first trip we took Claire on. (the year it became "the Poink") I know it was there when my Older two were young as well.

If you have thrill riders, it's a GREAT spot to go. I didn't mind waiting around either. I walked around in each area...and got a snack here and there. LOL! I even debated buying a sweathshirt I like, but ended up not getting int, though they run about $15 or so less than the Disney ones do. I tend to have a sweatshirt/hoodie obsession, but I held off!

I grew up with season passes to Cedar Point because we spent every weekend near Sandusky (we also had them to Geauga Lake because we lived 15 minutes from there during the week). My dad would never take me to Disney because my 4 brothers had no interest in it. Once I finally got to Disney at the age of 19, I've had no interest in Cedar Point anymore :lmao: DH and I went once 4 or 5 years ago, but then I dragged him to Disney and then he had no interest in Cedar Point anymore. Disney wins! :lmao:

Remember the big tree?? I loved Berenstein Bears land!

I to havent been to CP in years! We live about 45 minutes from Kennywood so its our "go to" home park.

Maybe in a couple years we will make a trip out to CP as my son gets older he gets more "thrill seeking" my hubby is somewhat and me well I just cant do it anymore :sad2:

I will go to picture take and snack! ;)popcorn::

Oh and can I say the pictures of that Wind seeker thingie...:sick::sick: and thats just from looking at it :rolleyes1

I was always so bummed out because it was never open when we went in there! I used to pray that when we went the tree would be open!! :rotfl:

We had to take a flashlight with us bc our ds wanted to "see" when he slid down the tree. lol
