Ohhhh, I love the smell of Main Street! Also, we used a sunscreen on our 2004 trip with a distinctive fruity smell and the poor children were coated with it the entire trip being very fair and freckly so whenever we smell that suncreen we are transported back...sigh...
For me, the first great smell is the Florida air when I step out of the airport! Then, when we walk into the GF lobby...aaahhhh! There's no smell like that anywhere else!
I also love the smells that many rides have that are so distinctive: the Roman ruins in SE, El Rio del Tiempo, Soarin'...each pavilion in the WS has its own wonderful smell, too!
The smell that does it for me is right when you walk into the lobby of the Polynesian resort. That unmistakable floral/tropical smell just tells me I have finally arrived!
I haven't been to Disney in about 12 years, but the smell of black pavement on a hot day does it for me. I'll just get a sudden whiff and all of a sudden I am longing for DW. But, now when I go as a "grown up" I have a feeling I will be taking more of the scents of food as a reminder. When you are a kid, eating is just wasting time that you could have been riding Space Mountain. Now, I am looking just as forward to planning the meals as I am the parks! Oh, and I agree, the scent of that Disney Water! Not quite the same as the dingy, stale water of our local "amusement park".
Mine would have to be the smell of our room at the Boardwalk and the concierge lounge when we first get there. Stepping onto the balcony first thing in the morning and smelling the Boardwalk Bakery also. At the parks, definately the musty water smell on Pirates and Splash Mountain, and at EPCOT, Rome burning in Spaceship Earth. There are so many more and it is making me homesick thinking about them Why is my countdown timer so long???????
