Very cool.
Rob with Passport to the Parks was doing a livestream today from Pop Century, showing the gondola testing, and at the end a cm came up to him and said videotaping wasn't allowed ANYWHERE at Disney without an escort! Ugh. Watch the last minute or so if you want to hear how it went down.
Yeah, I'm actually pretty shocked ANY cm thought it was possible that NO videotaping or photography were allowed on ALL of Disney property! It's possible the cm was specifically thinking of bloggers/vloggers, but that's certainly not what he said during the stream. I'm glad Rob got it all straightened out with management and hopefully that cm learned something today.
Wow. That's crazy! I mean, I could see where your particular situation could be seen as a safety hazard (pausing to take pictures while on a moving escalator), but to say that it isn't allowed to take ANY photos in the mall ANYWHERE? Um, yeah, good luck policing that one.Once I was at the mall and going to snap a pic of my kiddo on the escalator. Like she was cute. Security popped up and told me I couldn’t video her. I was like I’m not. They were like no photographing in the mall either. I’m like but I’m on my cellphone, I’m not a professional. I’m taking a picture of my 8 year old. And it’s the mall. With thousands of people every day taking pictures. “That’s policy mam. No pictures or video anywhere on property at any time. It’s private property.”
Ok then.
So....how in the world would they ever ever expect to enforce such a policy? I’m actually pretty sure this officer was wrong too but we were on our way out and just left. But really, why on earth would anyone think that’s an enforceable policy in this day and age? I understand a broadway play or the movies but the mall? Disney world? Really?
Ok rant over. Back to transportation and awesomeness.![]()
The best thing about this pic is clear windows on those gondola's, hope they stay clear...really looking forward to sight seeing with a clear view..

Actually I was ahead of her and had stepped off and to the side so I wasn’t in the way of the escalator and she was a few steps up. I think my teenager was right behind her though. Like she wasn’t alone. And I wasn’t in the way. It was weird. I think the escalators just are very visible to the security guard office. So they were close by. But it’s not like I’m the first person ever to snap a cell phone pic of my kid on an escalator.
Yeah, I didn't mean to imply you were being reckless or anything, just that I could kinda see it if they would have claimed it was a safety issue. But that wasn't what they said anyway.![]()
no photos or videos allowed on mall property. So weird.
This is BY FAR my favorite thread on the forums. I CANNOT wait to ride these things.I cannot believe how fascinated I have become with this project and this thread. I keep laughing about, but I’m finding myself checking this thread all the time - I wonder what’s new today??? So much for studying the arial photography of SWGE, because they’ve UNWRAPPED some gondolas. And I just grin watching it. Total dork here.
Um....I'm guessing a million other people have violated the law of taking photos on private property, then. I mean, I can't tell you how many photos I have of the Wilderness Lodge Christmas tree.....or of the MK castle......or of the Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom....or.......Once I was at the mall and going to snap a pic of my kiddo on the escalator. The opening of SWGE will mark our first time at POP too! I'm so excited! Since we've been to WDW many times before we are really concentrating on Star Wars stuff and of course a lot of relaxing at meals and resorts. After our stay at POP we will spend 2 days at Poly and CCV. I think we will need to chill aspect of our DVC stays after the craziness that will surely be SWGE!Same here! So excited. Glad we have reservations at Pop Century
Only a million? Maybe a million time 100 over the years. I'm sure just about every guest to WDW takes at least one picture somewhere along the way.guessing a million other people have violated the law of taking photos on private property, then.
