Disney Skyliner Accident

To the people who were actually on the crushed gondola, please contact Disney for your troubles!!! You could of been hurt and I would be furious if no one approached me after that. I would be contacting the news and calling a lawyer asap...and if they knew about it, even worse. If a cast member was playing trivia and you spoke to security afterwards, somebody in upper management should of been there when you got off. No excuse for this.

To the people who are saying a $100 gift card and a 1 day pass is reasonable....I disagree completely. If im on vacation (and a very expensive one at that), and im stuck in the air in a hot metal box with children, and having to use the bathroom infront of complete strangers with no air conditioning or ventilation for over 3 hours, with no updates from Disney, without knowing when im getting off or how im getting off and while learning that other people were on stretchers, scared ....im sorry but NO. The gondolas CRASHED into each other. Shouldn't of happened just 6 days after they open. Makes me question other rides at Disney.

I think this is huge. Sure, there will be bumps in the road, but this is very unprofessional. They are incredibly lucky no one was hurt. This reflects very poorly on doppelmayr. Where are they? Should All I heard on these boards leading up to this was about how the illustrious doppelmayr knew what they were doing. And this highlights the problem with no a/c. Very bad decision to skimp on a/c, Disney.
Not defending Disney AT ALL. Is it even possible power wise to have AC on a gondola? Where’s the power source for the unit?

This is a sad event, but in the grand scope of things, no one was seriously injured or (heaven forbid) killed. Rides (transportation) malfunction all the time. Do people always get compensated? no. If you consider a healthy group in car A (no one had to pee, no panic) the compensation would be (if a family of 4 - $400 and 4 tickets.) now my guess is the ticket is a (good for until you use it). But in car B you had a panic attack, crying etc. should car B be given more? how much more? and would car A people be angry that they didn't get more because they were able to "keep it together?"

Let the litigation begin... and this is why we here on Dis complain constantly about rising prices. This is exactly why things are getting more expensive. Sad.

We didn’t get Anything!!!
Maybe because you were at the location where the accident took place, no one in authority came quickly enough since you were able to leave the station fairly quickly. i'm not saying you shouldn't be offered anything for your awful experience, its just that you left before anyone knew that compensation was being offered? Did any cast member ask your name? I'm thinking MAYBE this was just a case of the cast member having no information about how to handle this yet.
But yeah, maybe not.
You could go to guest relations today and tell them your experience and see what they have to say.

Like after being in any crash, it might not be a bad idea to do this in case you do have any medical repercussions which I certainly hope does not occur.

I hope this accident, just brings up the real need for Disney to expand walking paths to all parks and resorts. I would love to see a walking path from AKV to AK and a walking path completely around the seven seas lagoon extended to Wilderness Lodge.

I don't think Disney is really putting the money in to personnel that is necessary to take care of these forms of transportation systems, monorail or skyliner. You need to have good mechanics and operators to keep these things running smoothly, not CM's who got a weeks worth of training from the manufactures. I say this as someone who literally puts my life in the hands of the mechanic and operator that I work with, they are worth their weight in gold, and worth the hourly rate they can charge.

Forget Guest Relations. They need to go higher.

I would assume a Disney has had a least conversations about lifting the resale restriction and under what circumstance they would do it. I agree this is a short term issue in aggregate. People will forget.
But if it slows sales enough on RIV to be apparent to the customer base, they might need to make a major move to keep sales momentum. Negative momentum on any product can make something look like the last dented can on the shelf. Even if someone wants it, they say to themselves “why are other people not buying it?”. I anticipate a major incentive soon or hopefully a sales restriction policy change. They have a lot of points to sell and the major question mark on RIV (besides sales restrictions) was the gondola. This is a major negative for the sales of RIV IMO. Disney needs to get ahead of this...
