I just saw yesterday at my bank (Chase) that they are offering a new Visa rewards debit card. I do not have the Rewards visa, but I do use a "generic points" rewards debit card. I actually use it for everything and have earned numerous numerous cash rewards. My current card offers 4 points per dollar, and a $100 cash reward is 50,000 points. On the new Disney card, $200 = 1 Disney Dollar. Mathematically, it takes money spent to earn $100 cash reward than $100 in disney dollars. BUT, they are offering $25 Disney Dollars after 5 uses.

Has anyone signed up for/used this new card? Anyone have an opinion on the offer/program? TIA for any information you are willing to share!

The $25 Disney Dollars that you get back after 5 uses will be offset by the $25 annual fee for the card in just the first year. After that, you will need to spend $5000 with the card in order for the rewards to equal what it costs you just to have the card.

Of course, if you're already spending $25/year for the luxury of having a debit card this fee shouldn't deter you from getting the Chase Disney Debit Card. You're already getting 0.8 cents per dollar spent on your current debit card. The Disney Debit card would get you 0.5 cents for every dollar spent. And your reward would be limited to spending at Disney.

My opinion is that Chase is relying on the Disney brand and the warm fuzzies that we all get when we think of "Uncle Walt" to sell the idea of this card. There are much better debit card deals out there and you already have one.

Thanks for the input. That was what I was thinking, but you are right, the "warm fuzzies" are almost enough to remove practicality! I definitely benefit from my card now, as my rewards have far outweighed the annual fee. It helps that I can connect it with my bill pay, too...

I've been checking into this and will be doing it today. It's worth the $25 just to have the card with Disney on it...:cloud9: Anything extra is just gravy!!!

Just to give an update. I did get the Disney debit Visa ordered yesterday. If you don't have a Chase account, are going to get this card, and you do this before 10/16, it will make the card more worth it.

I went to Google and put in Chase checking offer and found a great offer! Open an account, put in atleast $100, set up direct deposit or use the debit card atleast 5 times in 60 days and a bonus $100 will be put in your account within 10 business days. When finishing up on the online sign up where you choose checks, debit cards, etc, the option is there to get the Disney Rewards debit card. Disney and an extra $100!! WOOHOO!!! You can sign up online or in the bank if you print off the code needed.

I'm curious if the Disney card gives points for portion of a dollar like the leisure rewards does. If I spend even one cent on the leisure rewards card I get 4pts. If the Disney card operates the same then the spending point to get the rewards drops a lot. I cash in my points for over $200/yr in rewards (I mostly get the $100 Amazon GC for 40k points) but I don't spend anywhere near $20k/yr on the card. I just cashed in for a $100 GC at the end of Aug and I'm already near enough points to get a $50 GC.

It appears that since the promo is winding down, they have removed many of the references to it. I have searched for it again for about 30 minutes now. The lucky part is that I still had my email where I had the coupon emailed to me and it had this link to apply online. Hope it works for you!! :goodvibes

I just want to remind everyone that you take a risk of your information being phished when you click on links rather than typing a website's URL into your browser. I don't think that anyone here would purposefully post a bad link but please be cautious about what websites you enter private information on.

Thanks for the reminder Mad. I didn't think of that and am always trying to be sure I don't give up my info to someone that I shouldn't. My DSD's DH just did that on one of the paypal scams! Talk about a wiped out checking account! :scared1:

The link I posted above is the link in the email from Chase that I followed. I received a confirmation email from it and I'm hoping my Disney debit Visa will be here this week. :goodvibes I picked the blue sparkley Mickey icon but had a hard time not getting the one with the blue background and the Mickey standing on it. They said it was free to change whenever you want to so I may have to do that sometimes to get a different view. :rolleyes1

That's more than a little freaky, shmily...I was just looking at cakewrecks, and rather than "wonderful time of the year", the page I was on was "most wonderful time".

And then I came over here. Weird....

Since this is a disney debit card post, I wanted to mention for those who get one and want to get the rewards card AT the parks...according to them, it's not going to be "live" until sometime in November. It was my plan and I had the PDFs telling me I could do it printed out to remind me on our DLR trip, and the people at DCA were happy to give me the card, but when I called to do it, nope, denied. Not yet live for the debit card to do that process.:headache:
