Disney Removes the Ability to Leave Reviews on FB?

Many companies restrict comments that people leave on their FB pages or delete comments they don't like.

This. It is certainly not uncommon for businesses. Just surprised it took them this long. Social media has been overrun by rude comments, Disney would post pictures, special offers, announcements, to be inundated by filth and demanding posters. Can only imagine what it takes to keep those boards cleaned up.

Well. I'm disappointed. That said, I wasn't aware there was anywhere you could leave comments and/or ratings about Disney -- anywhere official. So I guess I'll go look. I've been on facebook for just over a year now, so relatively new at it. I have looked for some local businesses, restaurants, etc. just to get information. But I honestly never looked for Disney on facebook.
Sounds like someone trying to control free speech. And don't throw stuff at me because I understand no one wants their business to be slammed and for the public to read it. But if they don't want negative or neutral along with the good, maybe the page should come down.
It's sort of like Ebay. They really don't want you to post negative ratings or comments for sellers. They discourage it. They don't stop it, but the pop up messages trying to get you to reconsider. I don't do negative without a lot of thought. Anywhere.
One more disappointment.

I just checked 5 or 6 business pages I have "liked". Disney is the only one that doesn't allow comments/reviews on their page.

It is surprising that Disney has taken to this tactic, but it is hard to verify the information that people leave on something like FB.

It's possible that I may have never stepped foot on Disney property in my life, but I can suddenly become a "super special valued VIP" who has gone every year since birth, when I go on Facebook.

Disney sure didn't seem to worry about verifying a poster's "super special valued VIP" status when the reviews were glowing. :confused3 Now that the negative reviews are rolling in, they have a problem letting people express their honest views? Hmmmm....shady.

Sure many companies restrict comments on Facebook but Disney just started doing it.

Weak.

"Everyone else does it" is never an excuse, IMHO.

Wow is all I can say! :sad2: When honest feedback isn't welcome it is a shame. Management really has taken a bad turn!

ITA agree with these comments. Not cool, Disney. Not cool. Restricting the ability for the public to leave ratings/reviews of the current situation on the official page is weak. If FP+ is so great, it should be able to withstand public scrutiny; if it's not so great, well...I suppose censorship is one route to take. :rolleyes2

I posted a tread about this yeaterday but nobody replied...i thought it might have just been me who couldnt see them!!!

The thread is

Disney FB page....reviews hidden?

not sure how to link a thread.

Anyway...i posted waht the stats were for each star rating (1-5) as of presidents day.

I plan to check back weekly to see if the lower stars are increasing at a higher rate.

The star ratings have disappeared.

Yesterday I could only see the star ratings from a laptop, not my phone.

Are they now blocked totally?

They were still going up and up yesterday...50-10 ratings per hour.

I can't see them on either my PC or phone, so I think they have been removed completely.

I can understand why they would pull it. How many people here have complained on these boards without even using the system? Odds are people were giving one star ratings without stepping foot on property to test the system, so it makes sense that they would not want those reviews to be shown.

For the last month or so everytime I went on the site, 3 reviews would show and almost everytime there were 3 one stars listed. You only have my word to take...but almost all of them started with "I just got back and FP+ sucks".

An argument could be made that the 5 stars are overly inflated as well. For example, my mother has not been since 1987 and she would easily put 5 stars. The 5 stars could just as easily be based on 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 years ago.

I will say in the short 8 hrs I was monitoring them...the one stars were increasing at a higher rate than all others. Maybe Disney does snoop these boards and closed the stars down haha

From my phone just now I was able to leave a review. I didn't finalize it but the ability to leave one is there. But I can't see others reviews (just the overall rating and a number of ratings left) not can I post on their wall. Hmm...

I'm just interested to see how the next year goes with all the negative reviews.

With the amount of money spent, and the amount of people cancelling their trips, will they even make a financial loss this year?! Which of course in turn will mean more cost savings with reduced park hours, the removal of free dining, etc etc...

Not to be a harbinger of doom, but I've never seen such negativity in all my years at WDW. It's kind of worrying.

We are headed to WDW in 6 weeks. We stay offsite so no opportunity for FP+ ahead of time. We go often - once or twice a year. I haven't linked my UCT tickets to MDE yet because I am keeping the option in the back on my mind to exchange my tickets for Universal. I know for sure we won't book another trip until I feel that this mess has been cleaned up. So, they are losing existing customers!

I work with a guy who really doesn't like Disney - he is more of a Six Flags type of guy. He told me last week that he was thinking of going next summer as his 6 year old was begging to go. Guess what? I told him what was going on with FP (he has been before so knew the old system) and he is definitely thinking hard about whether he will make the committment. So, they will definitely be losing future customers as well.

I really hope they fix this soon.

It is true, there are many businesses fortunate enough to be able to leave them up. Also, many have few enough comments that they can have their admin delete them individually if necessary. This is true with several pages I follow and admin. On any given day, the Disney pages get many thousands of replies. As long as people weren't being rude, just honest, think it was fine. The ones that concerned me (and probably Disney) had nothing to do with honest input.

My place of employment does the same thing. We don't have staff to deal with "trolls" on facebook 24/7.

If too many Disney diehards and previous Disney supporters become naysayers, it will eventually affect Disney's bottom line. That seemingly endless stream of newbies/once-in-a-lifetimers will slow to a trickle. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but it will happen.

I agree. People can recognize entertainment value, no matter if they are newbie one timers or visit often. When they return home and say "Disney was great but I had to stand in long lines, etc, etc." that will persuade a lot of neighbors from spending thousands to stand in line. They can stand in line at Six Flags for a lot less money.

I wouldn't make a comment about an experience I haven't had but I've been to Disney enough to know I don't like what I'm hearing. I don't have to actually get punched in the stomach to figure out I will not like it.

Somebody ought to call NBC or CBS and have them run a story/editorial on this. They would jump on it and would eat this up. Its obvious Disney is running for cover.

Or make an unofficial FB page so people can comment and Disney cannot stop them.

On all my previous trips, I got an email, post trip, requesting feedback on my experience. I hope they don't do away with that.

I did notice on one of my trips the post trip questionnaire did not have an appropriate way to address a specific issue I had. I think I used this link to directly voice my concern:

WDW.Guest.Communications@disneyworld.com

If that is still valid it might be a good way to address issues you may experience with FP+ or others.

How is this topic related to theme park attractions and strategies?

Sadly, this forum has been overrun with topics that have nothing to do with attractions and strategies. Unless you count "I'm not going to Disney anymore" a strategy. :sad2:
